1Depois vi o Cordeiro em pé sobre o monte Sião e com ele estavam 144 000 que tinham escrito nas suas testas o nome dele e de seu Pai.2E ouvi um som vindo do céu como o ruído duma grande catarata ou como o estrondo de um enorme trovão. Era como se fosse o som de muitas harpas tocando ao mesmo tempo.3Este grande coro cantava um novo cântico maravilhoso, diante do trono de Deus, dos quatro seres viventes e dos vinte e quatro anciãos. E ninguém podia entender este cântico exceto aqueles 144 000 que tinham sido resgatados da Terra.4Estes são espiritualmente limpos, puros como virgens, e seguem o Cordeiro para onde quer que ele vá. Foram comprados de entre o povo na Terra como uma oferta especial para Deus e para o Cordeiro.5Não podiam ser acusados de mentira; são irrepreensíveis.
Os três anjos
6E vi outro anjo voando pelos céus, levando as boas novas eternas, pregando a todos os que estão na Terra, de toda a nação, tribo, língua e povo.7“Temam a Deus!”, dizia numa voz muito forte. “Louvem a sua grandeza! Porque chegou o momento de ele fazer justiça. Adorem pois aquele que criou o céu, a Terra, o mar e todas as fontes!”8E um outro anjo seguiu-o, através dos céus, dizendo: “Caiu, caiu a grande Babilónia, porque seduziu todas as nações, e as fez beber o vinho do frenesi da sua imoralidade sexual.”9Veio ainda um terceiro anjo clamando: “Todo aquele que adorar o monstro e a sua estátua, e aceitar a sua marca na testa ou na mão,10terá de beber o vinho da ira de Deus. Este lhe será dado a beber, sem mistura, na taça da severidade de Deus. E serão atormentados com fogo e enxofre incandescente, na presença dos santos anjos e do Cordeiro.11O fumo desse suplício subirá para todo o sempre, pois que o tormento é eterno; nem de noite, nem de dia terão alívio esses que adoraram o monstro e a sua estátua, e que aceitaram receber o código do seu nome.12Que isto sirva para animar o povo de Deus a suportar com perseverança todas as provações e perseguições; esse povo santo são os que permanecem firmes na obediência à vontade de Deus, e nunca enfraquecem na sua fé em Jesus.”13Ouvi então uma voz do céu que me dizia: “Escreve o seguinte: Felizes aqueles que, daqui em diante, morrem fiéis ao Senhor, pois poderão receber a plena recompensa que lhes é reservada! Sim, diz o Espírito de Deus, eles poderão enfim descansar de todas as fadigas e provações, porque as suas obras justas acompanham-nos!”
A colheita da terra
14Depois vi uma nuvem branca sobre a qual estava o Filho do Homem, com uma coroa de ouro na cabeça e uma foice bem afiada na mão.15Um outro anjo saiu do templo e dirigiu-se a ele clamando: “Começa a usar a tua foice, porque chegou o momento de ceifares, pois a colheita da Terra está madura.”16Então, aquele que estava sentado na nuvem fez passar a foice sobre a Terra e foi feita a colheita.17A seguir veio outro anjo do templo no céu que trazia também uma foice afiada.18Nessa altura um anjo que tinha a seu cargo a utilização do fogo saiu do altar e gritou para o anjo que tinha a foice: “Usa agora a tua foice para cortar os cachos de uvas das vinhas da Terra, pois estão maduros.”19O anjo passou a foice sobre a Terra e encheu de uvas o grande lagar da ira de Deus.20As uvas foram esmagadas nesse lagar, que era fora da cidade. E o sangue que daí saiu formou uma torrente de uns 300 quilómetros de comprimento, e tão alta que chegava até aos freios dos cavalos.
1Then I looked, and behold, on Mount Zion stood the Lamb, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads. (Sl 2:6; Hb 12:22; Ap 3:12; Ap 5:6; Ap 7:3; Ap 7:4)2And I heard a voice from heaven like the roar of many waters and like the sound of loud thunder. The voice I heard was like the sound of harpists playing on their harps, (Ap 1:15; Ap 5:8; Ap 6:1; Ap 15:2; Ap 19:6)3and they were singing a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and before the elders. No one could learn that song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth. (Ap 2:17; Ap 5:9; Ap 19:12)4It is these who have not defiled themselves with women, for they are virgins. It is these who follow the Lamb wherever he goes. These have been redeemed from mankind as firstfruits for God and the Lamb, (2 Co 11:2; Tg 1:18; Ap 3:4; Ap 17:14)5and in their mouth no lie was found, for they are blameless. (Sl 32:2; Is 63:8; Sf 3:13; Jo 1:47; Jd 1:24)
The Messages of the Three Angels
6Then I saw another angel flying directly overhead, with an eternal gospel to proclaim to those who dwell on earth, to every nation and tribe and language and people. (Ap 3:10; Ap 8:13)7And he said with a loud voice, “Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come, and worship him who made heaven and earth, the sea and the springs of water.” (Ne 9:6; Ap 4:11; Ap 8:10; Ap 11:13; Ap 15:4; Ap 16:4)8Another angel, a second, followed, saying, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great, she who made all nations drink the wine of the passion[1] of her sexual immorality.” (Is 21:9; Jr 51:7; Jr 51:8; Dn 4:30; Ap 16:19; Ap 17:5; Ap 18:2; Ap 18:3; Ap 18:10)9And another angel, a third, followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone worships the beast and its image and receives a mark on his forehead or on his hand, (Ap 13:15; Ap 13:16)10he also will drink the wine of God’s wrath, poured full strength into the cup of his anger, and he will be tormented with fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. (Jó 21:20; Is 1:22; Ap 16:19; Ap 18:6; Ap 20:10)11And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever, and they have no rest, day or night, these worshipers of the beast and its image, and whoever receives the mark of its name.” (Gn 19:28; Is 34:10; Ap 4:8; Ap 14:9; Ap 18:18; Ap 19:3)12Here is a call for the endurance of the saints, those who keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus.[2] (Ap 12:17; Ap 13:10)13And I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Blessed indeed,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!” (Ec 4:2; 1 Co 15:18; 1 Ts 4:16; Ap 6:11; Ap 20:6)
The Harvest of the Earth
14Then I looked, and behold, a white cloud, and seated on the cloud one like a son of man, with a golden crown on his head, and a sharp sickle in his hand. (Ap 1:13; Ap 6:2)15And another angel came out of the temple, calling with a loud voice to him who sat on the cloud, “Put in your sickle, and reap, for the hour to reap has come, for the harvest of the earth is fully ripe.” (Jr 51:33; Jl 3:13; Mt 13:39; Mc 4:29; Ap 14:18; Ap 15:6; Ap 16:17)16So he who sat on the cloud swung his sickle across the earth, and the earth was reaped.17Then another angel came out of the temple in heaven, and he too had a sharp sickle.18And another angel came out from the altar, the angel who has authority over the fire, and he called with a loud voice to the one who had the sharp sickle, “Put in your sickle and gather the clusters from the vine of the earth, for its grapes are ripe.” (Jl 3:13; Ap 16:8)19So the angel swung his sickle across the earth and gathered the grape harvest of the earth and threw it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. (Ap 19:15)20And the winepress was trodden outside the city, and blood flowed from the winepress, as high as a horse’s bridle, for 1,600 stadia.[3] (Is 63:3; Lm 1:15; Hb 13:12; Ap 19:14)
