1 Das Wort, das von Jahwe zu Jeremia kam: 2 So spricht Jahwe, der Gott Israels: „Alles, was ich dir gesagt habe, schreibe in eine Schriftrolle! 3 Denn seht, es wird eine Zeit kommen, in der ich das Schicksal meines Volkes Israel und Juda wende“, spricht Jahwe. „Ich werde sie in das Land zurückbringen, das ich ihren Vorfahren gegeben habe; sie sollen es wieder in Besitz nehmen.“ 4 Folgendes hat Jahwe über Israel und Juda gesagt; 5 ja, so spricht Jahwe: „Wir hören Angstgeschrei. / Furcht ist da und kein Frieden! 6 Fragt doch nach und seht: / Bringt ein Mann jemals Kinder zur Welt? / Warum sehe ich da Männer / mit Händen auf den Hüften / wie Gebärende es tun? / Warum sind ihre Gesichter so blass? 7 Wehe, groß ist jener Tag, / keiner ist ihm gleich! / Die Nachkommen Jakobs sind in Not, / doch sie werden daraus befreit.“ 8 „Es geschieht an jenem Tag“, spricht Jahwe, der Allmächtige, „da zerbreche ich das Joch auf dir und zerreiße deine Fesseln. Fremde sollen dich nicht mehr versklaven! 9 Nur mir werdet ihr dienen, Jahwe, eurem Gott, und eurem König David, den ich euch erstehen lasse. 10 Und du, mein Diener Jakob, hab keine Angst!“, spricht Jahwe. „Israel, erschrick nicht! Denn ich will dich retten aus dem fernen Land, deine Nachkommen aus der Gefangenschaft. Jakob wird zurückkehren und in Frieden und Sicherheit leben. Niemand schreckt ihn mehr auf. 11 Denn ich bin bei dir“, spricht Jahwe, „um dir zu helfen. Die Völker, unter die ich euch versprengt habe, werde ich vernichten, nicht aber dich! Dich muss ich nur bestrafen, wie du es verdienst, denn ungestraft kann ich dich nicht lassen.“ 12 Ja, so spricht Jahwe: „Unheilbar ist dein Bruch, / eiterig deine Wunde! 13 Keiner tritt für dich ein, / keiner presst den Eiter aus. / Darüber wächst keine heilende Haut. 14 Deine Liebhaber vergaßen dich alle, / sie fragten nicht mehr nach dir. / Denn wie einen Feind habe ich dich verwundet, / grausam habe ich dich bestraft / wegen deiner riesigen Schuld / und deiner zahllosen Sünden. 15 Was schreist du über deinen Bruch / und deinen unheilbaren Schmerz? / Wegen deiner riesigen Schuld / und deiner zahllosen Sünden / tat ich dir das an. 16 Doch alle, die dich fraßen, / werden nun selbst verzehrt; / alle, die dich bedrängten, / müssen nun in Gefangenschaft; / alle, die dich beraubten, / werden nun selbst beraubt; / alle, die dich plünderten, / gebe ich nun der Plünderung preis. 17 Dir lasse ich die Wundhaut wachsen, / dich heile ich von deinen Wunden, spricht Jahwe, / weil sie dich eine Verstoßene nennen: / 'Das ist Zion, nach der keiner fragt!'“ 18 So spricht Jahwe: „Seht, ich stelle Jakobs Zelte wieder her, / erbarme mich über seine Wohnungen. / Auf Bergen von Schutt ersteht die Stadt neu, / der Palast auf seinem alten Platz. 19 Lobgesang wird dort zu hören sein, / die Stimme fröhlicher Menschen. / Ich lasse mein Volk wachsen, / ihre Zahl nimmt nicht mehr ab. / Ich verschaffe ihnen so viel Ehre, / dass niemand mehr sie verachtet. 20 Es wird ihnen gehen wie früher, / ihre Gemeinschaft besteht vor mir. / Und alle ihre Unterdrücker / ziehe ich zur Rechenschaft. 21 Ihr Führer kommt dann aus ihrer Mitte, / ihr Herrscher stammt von ihnen selbst. / Ich erlaube ihm den Zutritt zu mir, / er darf in meiner Nähe erscheinen. / Denn wer setzt sonst sein Leben aufs Spiel, / um in meine Nähe zu kommen? / Das sagt Jahwe. 22 Dann seid ihr wieder mein Volk, / und ich bin wieder euer Gott.“ 23 Passt auf! Ein verheerender Sturm Jahwes bricht los: sein Grimm. Ein Wirbelsturm entlädt sich über diese gottlosen Menschen. 24 Der Zorn Jahwes wird nicht nachlassen, bis Jahwe alles ausgeführt hat, was er sich vornahm. Ganz werdet ihr das erst verstehen, wenn es soweit ist.

Israel will return to the Lord

1 A message from the LORD came to Jeremiah. The LORD said, 2 ‘I am the LORD. I am the God of Israel. I say, “Write in a book all the words I have spoken to you. 3 A new day is coming,” ’ announces the LORD. ‘ “At that time I will bring my people Israel and Judah back from where they have been taken as prisoners. I will bring them back to this land. I gave it to their people of long ago to have as their own,” ’ says the LORD. 4 Here are the words the LORD spoke about Israel and Judah. He said, 5 ‘I am the LORD. I say, ‘ “Cries of fear are heard. There is terror. There isn’t any peace. 6 Ask and see. Can a man give birth to children? Then why do I see every strong man with his hands on his stomach? Each of them is acting like a woman having a baby. Every face is as pale as death. 7 How awful that day will be! No other day will be like it. It will be a time of trouble for the people of Jacob. But they will be saved out of it. 8 ‘ “At that time I will break the yoke off their necks,” announces the LORD who rules over all. “I will tear off the ropes that hold them. People from other lands will not make them slaves anymore. 9 Instead, they will serve me. And they will serve David their king. I will raise him up for them. I am the LORD their God. 10 ‘ “People of Jacob, do not be afraid. You are my servant. Israel, do not be terrified,” ’ announces the LORD. ‘ “You can be sure that I will save you. I will bring you out of a place far away. I will bring your children back from the land where they were taken. Your people will have peace and security again. And no one will make them afraid. 11 I am with you. I will save you,” ’ announces the LORD. ‘ “I will completely destroy all the nations among which I scatter you. But I will not completely destroy you. I will correct you. But I will be fair. I will not let you go without any punishment.” ’ 12 The LORD says, ‘Your wound can’t be cured. Your pain can’t be healed. 13 No one will stand up for you. There isn’t any medicine for your sore. There isn’t any healing for you. 14 All those who were going to help you have forgotten you. They do not care about you. I have struck you as if I were your enemy. I have punished you as if I were very mean. That is because your guilt is so great. You have sinned so much. 15 Why do you cry out about your wound? Your pain can’t be healed. Your guilt is very great. And you have committed many sins. That is why I have done all these things to you. 16 ‘But everyone who destroys you will be destroyed. All your enemies will be forced to leave their countries. Those who steal from you will be stolen from. I will take the belongings of those who take things from you. 17 But I will make you healthy again. I will heal your wounds,’ announces the LORD. ‘That’s because you have been thrown out. You are called Zion, the one no one cares about.’ 18 The LORD says, ‘I will bless Jacob’s people with great success again. I will show tender love to Israel. Jerusalem will be rebuilt where it was destroyed. The palace will stand in its proper place. 19 From those places the songs of people giving thanks will be heard. The sound of great joy will come from there. I will cause there to be more of my people. There will not be fewer of them. I will bring them honour. People will have respect for them. 20 Things will be as they used to be for Jacob’s people. I will make their community firm and secure. I will punish everyone who treats them badly. 21 Their leader will be one of their own people. Their ruler will rise up from among them. I will bring him near. And he will come close to me. He will commit himself to serve me,’ announces the LORD. 22 ‘So you will be my people. And I will be your God.’ 23 A storm will burst out because of the LORD’s great anger. A strong wind will sweep down on the heads of evil people. 24 The LORD’s great anger won’t turn back. He will accomplish everything his heart plans to do. In days to come you will understand this.
