Psalm 84

New International Reader’s Version

von Biblica
1 LORD who rules over all, how lovely is the place where you live!2 I can’t wait to be in the courtyards of the LORD’s temple. I really want to be there. My whole being cries out for the living God.3 LORD who rules over all, even the sparrow has found a home near your altar. My King and my God, the swallow also has a nest there, where she may have her young.4 Blessed are those who live in your house. They are always praising you.5 Blessed are those whose strength comes from you. They have firmly decided to travel to your temple.6 As they pass through the dry Valley of Baka, they make it a place where water flows. The rain in the fall covers it with pools.7 Those people get stronger as they go along, until each of them appears in Zion, where God lives.8 LORD God who rules over all, hear my prayer. God of the people of Jacob, listen to me.9 God, may you be pleased with your anointed king. You appointed him to be like a shield that keeps us safe.10 A single day in your courtyards is better than a thousand anywhere else. I would rather guard the door of the house of my God than live in the tents of sinful people.11 The LORD God is like the sun that gives us light. He is like a shield that keeps us safe. The LORD blesses us with favour and honour. He doesn’t hold back anything good from those whose lives are without blame.12 LORD who rules over all, blessed is the person who trusts in you.

Psalm 84

English Standard Version

1 To the choirmaster: according to The Gittith.[1] A Psalm of the Sons of Korah. How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord of hosts! (Ps 8,1; Ps 27,4; Ps 42,1; Ps 43,3; Ps 81,1; Ps 132,5)2 My soul longs, yes, faints for the courts of the Lord; my heart and flesh sing for joy to the living God. (Hi 19,27; Ps 42,1; Ps 42,2; Ps 63,1; Ps 73,26; Ps 119,81; Ps 143,6)3 Even the sparrow finds a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, at your altars, O Lord of hosts, my King and my God. (Ps 5,2)4 Blessed are those who dwell in your house, ever singing your praise! (Ps 42,5; Ps 42,11; Ps 43,5; Ps 65,4)5 Blessed are those whose strength is in you, in whose heart are the highways to Zion.[2] (Ps 122,1)6 As they go through the Valley of Baca they make it a place of springs; the early rain also covers it with pools. (Hes 34,26; Joe 2,23)7 They go from strength to strength; each one appears before God in Zion. (Ps 42,2; Spr 4,18; Jes 40,31; Joh 1,16; 2Kor 3,18)8 O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer; give ear, O God of Jacob! (Ps 59,5)9 Behold our shield, O God; look on the face of your anointed! (Ps 3,3; Ps 80,14)10 For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness. (1Chr 26,19; Ps 84,2)11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly. (Ps 15,2; Ps 27,1; Ps 34,9; Ps 84,9; Ps 85,12; Spr 2,7; Jes 60,19; Mal 4,2; Mt 6,33; Mt 7,11; Offb 21,23)12 O Lord of hosts, blessed is the one who trusts in you! (Ps 2,12)
