1O hätte ich nur in der Wüste / einen Platz zum Übernachten. / Dann würde ich mein Volk verlassen, / ich würde von ihnen gehen! / Denn sie sind alle Ehebrecher, / eine Bande voller Treulosigkeit!2„Ihre Zunge ist ein gespannter Bogen, / der Lügen im ganzen Land verschießt. / Nicht durch Wahrheit wurden sie stark. / Eine Bosheit folgte der nächsten; / mich aber kennen sie nicht“, / spricht Jahwe.3„Seid auf der Hut vor euren Freunden, / und traut selbst eurem Bruder nicht. / Denn jeder Bruder betrügt, / und ein Freund legt den andern herein.4Jeder täuscht den anderen, / die Wahrheit sagen sie nicht. / Sie haben ihre Zunge ans Lügen gewöhnt / und können das Böse nicht lassen.5– Du wohnst mitten unter Betrügern. – Sie wollen mich nicht kennen“, spricht Jahwe.6Darum spricht Jahwe, der Allmächtige: / „Ich werde sie schmelzen und läutern! / Denn was soll ich sonst mit meinem Volk tun?7Ihre Worte sind tödliche Pfeile, / sie lügen unentwegt. / Nach außen täuschen sie Freundschaft vor, / doch im Herzen planen sie den Überfall.8Sollte ich das etwa nicht bestrafen?“, spricht Jahwe. / „Muss ich solch ein Volk nicht zur Rechenschaft ziehen?“9Über das Bergland muss ich weinen, / über die Weiden in der Steppe / stimme ich ein Klagelied an. / Denn alles ist verwüstet und verbrannt. / Kein Hirte zieht hindurch, / und man hört auch keine Herden mehr. / Die Tiere sind geflohen, / selbst die Vögel sind fort.10„So mache ich Jerusalem zum Trümmerhaufen, / zur Behausung für Schakale. / Judas Städte werden zum Ödland / wo niemand mehr wohnt.“11Wer ist der weise Mann, der das versteht? Zu wem hat Jahwe geredet, dass er uns erklären kann, warum das Land zugrunde geht, warum es verbrannt wird wie eine Wüste, die niemand durchzieht?12Da erwiderte Jahwe: „Weil sie meine Weisung in den Wind schlugen, weil sie nicht auf das hörten, was ich sagte,13sondern taten, wozu ihr Trotz sie trieb. Sie liefen den Baalen nach, wie sie es von ihren Vorfahren gelernt hatten.“14Darum sagt Jahwe, der Allmächtige, Israels Gott: „Passt auf! Ich werde diesem Volk Bitteres zu essen und Giftiges zu trinken geben.15Ich werde sie unter fremde Völker zerstreuen, die weder sie noch ihre Vorfahren gekannt haben. Und ich schicke ihnen das Schwert hinterher, bis ich sie vernichtet habe.“16So spricht Jahwe, der Allmächtige: / „Begreift es! Ruft die Klagefrauen her, / lasst die weisen Frauen kommen! /17Beeilen sollen sie sich / und mit dem Klagen beginnen, / dass unsere Augen schwimmen / und die Tränen fließen.18Aus Zion hört man schon die Klage: / 'Ach, wir können es nicht fassen! / Wie jämmerlich sind wir geschändet! / Wir mussten unser Land verlassen, / alle Häuser riss man ein.'“19Ihr Frauen, hört das Wort Jahwes! / Nehmt auf, was er gesagt hat! / Singt euren Töchtern das Klagelied vor, / und bringt es euch gegenseitig bei:20„Der Tod ist durch unsere Fenster gestiegen, / er drang in unsere Paläste ein. / Er raffte das Kind von der Straße weg, / von den Märkten die jungen Männer.“21Sag: „So spricht Jahwe: / 'Die Leichen der Leute / fallen wie Dünger auf das Feld, / wie Garben hinter dem Schnitter, / und niemand sammelt sie ein.'“
Worauf man nicht stolz sein kann
22So spricht Jahwe: / „Der Weise rühme sich nicht seiner Weisheit, / der Starke sei nicht stolz auf seine Stärke, / und der Reiche gebe nicht an mit seinem Geld.23Grund zum Rühmen hat nur, / wer mich erkennt und begreift, was ich will; / wer einsieht, dass ich Jahwe bin,[1] / der auf der Erde Gnade, Recht und Gerechtigkeit schafft! / Denn das gefällt mir“, spricht Jahwe. (1Kor 1,31; 2Kor 10,17)
Israel ein unbeschnittenes Volk
24„Passt auf! Es wird eine Zeit kommen“, spricht Jahwe, „da ziehe ich alle zur Rechenschaft, die nur äußerlich beschnitten sind:25Ägypten und Juda, die Edomiter und die Ammoniter,[2] die Moabiter[3] und die Wüstenstämme, die sich die Schläfenlocken stutzen. Denn alle nichtjüdischen Völker sind für mich unbeschnitten, und auch Israel hat ein unbeschnittenes Herz.“

I would weep day and night for the slain of my people.2Oh, that I had in the desert a lodging place for travellers, so that I might leave my people and go away from them; for they are all adulterers, a crowd of unfaithful people.3‘They make ready their tongue like a bow, to shoot lies; it is not by truth that they triumph[2] in the land. They go from one sin to another; they do not acknowledge me,’ declares the Lord.4‘Beware of your friends; do not trust anyone in your clan. For every one of them is a deceiver,[3] and every friend a slanderer.5Friend deceives friend, and no-one speaks the truth. They have taught their tongues to lie; they weary themselves with sinning.6You[4] live in the midst of deception; in their deceit they refuse to acknowledge me,’ declares the Lord.7Therefore this is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘See, I will refine and test them, for what else can I do because of the sin of my people?8Their tongue is a deadly arrow; it speaks deceitfully. With their mouths they all speak cordially to their neighbours, but in their hearts they set traps for them.9Should I not punish them for this?’ declares the Lord. ‘Should I not avenge myself on such a nation as this?’10I will weep and wail for the mountains and take up a lament concerning the wilderness grasslands. They are desolate and untravelled, and the lowing of cattle is not heard. The birds have all fled and the animals are gone.11‘I will make Jerusalem a heap of ruins, a haunt of jackals; and I will lay waste the towns of Judah so that no-one can live there.’12Who is wise enough to understand this? Who has been instructed by the Lord and can explain it? Why has the land been ruined and laid waste like a desert that no-one can cross?13The Lord said, ‘It is because they have forsaken my law, which I set before them; they have not obeyed me or followed my law.14Instead, they have followed the stubbornness of their hearts; they have followed the Baals, as their ancestors taught them.’15Therefore this is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: ‘See, I will make this people eat bitter food and drink poisoned water.16I will scatter them among nations that neither they nor their ancestors have known, and I will pursue them with the sword until I have made an end of them.’17This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘Consider now! Call for the wailing women to come; send for the most skilful of them.18Let them come quickly and wail over us till our eyes overflow with tears and water streams from our eyelids.19The sound of wailing is heard from Zion: “How ruined we are! How great is our shame! We must leave our land because our houses are in ruins.” ’20Now, you women, hear the word of the Lord; open your ears to the words of his mouth. Teach your daughters how to wail; teach one another a lament.21Death has climbed in through our windows and has entered our fortresses; it has removed the children from the streets and the young men from the public squares.22Say, ‘This is what the Lord declares: ‘ “Dead bodies will lie like dung on the open field, like cut corn behind the reaper, with no-one to gather them.” ’23This is what the Lord says: ‘Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches,24but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,’ declares the Lord.25‘The days are coming,’ declares the Lord, ‘when I will punish all who are circumcised only in the flesh –26Egypt, Judah, Edom, Ammon, Moab and all who live in the wilderness in distant places.[5] For all these nations are really uncircumcised, and even the whole house of Israel is uncircumcised in heart.’

Они приучили свой язык лгать и грешат до изнеможения.6Ты живёшь среди коварного народа, и из-за своего коварства они не желают знать Меня, – возвещает Вечный.7Поэтому так говорит Вечный, Повелитель Сил: – Я переплавлю и испытаю их, а как ещё Мне поступить с Моим грешным народом?8Их язык – гибельная стрела, он источает коварство. Научите плачу своих дочерей и друг друга – горестным песням.21Потому что смерть входит в наши окна и вторгается в наши дворцы, чтобы истребить детей на улицах и юношей на площадях.22– Скажи: Так возвещает Вечный: «Будут трупы людские лежать, как навоз на открытом поле, как снопы позади жнеца, и некому будет собрать их».23Так говорит Вечный: – Пусть мудрец не хвалится мудростью, сильный – силою, а богатый – своим богатством;24тот, кто хвалится, пусть хвалится тем, что понимает и знает Меня, тем, что Я – Вечный, творящий милость, правосудие и праведность на земле, потому что только это Мне угодно, – возвещает Вечный.25– Настанут дни, – возвещает Вечный, – когда Я накажу всех, кто обрезан только по плоти –26жителей Египта, Иудеи, Эдома, Аммона и Моава и всех, живущих в отдалённых местах пустыни и стригущих волосы на висках[2].
