Jeremias zweite Tempelrede

1 Kurz nachdem Jojakim Ben-Joschija König über Juda geworden war, kam folgendes Wort Jahwes: 2 „So spricht Jahwe: Stell dich in den Vorhof von Jahwes Haus und rede zu allen, die aus den Städten Judas kommen, um sich im Haus Jahwes niederzuwerfen! Sag ihnen alles, was ich dir befohlen habe! Lass nichts davon aus! 3 Vielleicht hören sie ja darauf und jeder kehrt von seinem bösen Weg um. Dann wird es mir leidtun und ich werde das Unheil, das ich ihnen wegen der Bosheit ihrer Taten angedroht habe, nicht über sie bringen. 4 Sag ihnen: 'So spricht Jahwe: Wenn ihr nicht auf mich hört und euch nicht an meine Weisungen haltet, 5 wenn ihr auch nicht auf die Worte meiner Diener, der Propheten, hört – auf die ihr nie gehört habt, obwohl ich sie immer wieder zu euch gesandt habe –, 6 dann werde ich mit diesem Haus dasselbe tun wie mit Schilo.^[1] Und diese Stadt werde ich zu einem Fluchwort für alle Völker der Erde machen.'“ 7 Die Priester, die Propheten und das ganze Volk hörten, was Jeremia im Haus Jahwes sagte. 8 Als er zu Ende war und den Auftrag Jahwes ausgeführt hatte, stürzten sich alle auf ihn. Sie packten ihn und schrien: „Dafür musst du sterben! 9 Weshalb verkündest du im Namen Jahwes, dass es diesem Haus wie Schilo ergehen und dass diese Stadt in Trümmern liegen und menschenleer sein wird?“ Das ganze Volk rottete sich im Vorhof des Tempels gegen Jeremia zusammen. 10 Als die führenden Männer Judas davon hörten, kamen sie vom Königspalast zum Haus Jahwes hinauf und nahmen am Eingang des Neuen Tores Platz. 11 Die Priester und Propheten klagten Jeremia vor ihnen und dem versammelten Volk an. „Dieser Mann verdient den Tod!“, sagten sie. „Er hat gegen diese Stadt geweissagt. Ihr habt es ja selbst gehört.“ 12 Darauf erwiderte Jeremia: „Jahwe hat mich beauftragt, gegen dieses Haus und gegen diese Stadt all das zu weissagen, was ihr gehört habt. 13 So bessert nun euer Leben und euer ganzes Tun und hört auf Jahwe, euren Gott. Dann wird es Jahwe leidtun und er wird das Unheil nicht über euch kommen lassen. 14 Ich selbst bin ja in eurer Hand. Macht mit mir, was ihr wollt. 15 Doch eins sollt ihr wissen: Wenn ihr mich tötet, bringt ihr unschuldiges Blut über euch, über diese Stadt und ihre Einwohner. Denn so wahr ich hier stehe: Jahwe hat mich zu euch geschickt, um euch genau diese Worte zu überbringen.“ 16 Da waren sich die Oberen und das ganze Volk einig: „Dieser Mann hat auf keinen Fall die Todesstrafe verdient, denn er hat im Namen Jahwes, unseres Gottes, zu uns gesprochen.“ 17 Es standen auch einige von den Ältesten des Landes auf und sagten: 18 „Micha von Moreschet hat zur Zeit des Königs Hiskija von Juda geweissagt und zum ganzen Volk gesagt: 'So spricht Jahwe, der Allmächtige: Zion wird umgepflügt wie ein Acker, Jerusalem wird zu einem Trümmerhaufen und der Tempelberg zu einem bewaldeten Hügel.' (Mi 1,1; Mi 3,12) 19 Haben ihn der König Hiskija und das ganze Volk damals etwa getötet? Nein, Hiskija hat sich Jahwe unterworfen und ihn angefleht, sodass es Jahwe leidtat und er das Unheil nicht über sie brachte. Aber wir sind dabei, durch ein großes Unrecht unser Leben in Gefahr zu bringen!“

Hinrichtung des Propheten Urija

20 Es gab damals noch einen anderen Propheten, der ganz ähnlich wie Jeremia im Namen Jahwes gegen diese Stadt und das Land Juda weissagte. Es war Urija Ben-Schemaja aus Kirjat-Jearim. 21 Als König Jojakim, seine Heerführer und Oberen dessen Worte hörten, wollte der König ihn töten lassen. Urija erfuhr davon, bekam Angst und floh nach Ägypten. 22 Da schickte Jojakim Elnatan Ben-Achbor mit einigen Männern dorthin. 23 Sie holten Urija aus Ägypten zurück und brachten ihn vor den König. Der ließ ihn mit dem Schwert hinrichten und seine Leiche auf die Gräber des einfachen Volkes werfen. 24 Doch Jeremia entging der Hinrichtung, weil Ahikam Ben-Schafan ihn in Schutz nahm und nicht zuließ, dass er vom Volk getötet wurde.

1 وَفِي بِدَايَةِ حُكْمِ يَهُويَاقِيمَ بْنِ يُوشِيَّا مَلِكِ يَهُوذَا، أَوْحَى الرَّبُّ بِهَذَا الْكَلامِ قَائِلاً: 2 هَذَا مَا يُعْلِنُهُ الرَّبُّ: «قِفْ فِي سَاحَةِ هَيْكَلِ الرَّبِّ، وَبَلِّغْ كُلَّ أَهْلِ مُدُنِ يَهُوذَا الْقَادِمِينَ لِلْعِبَادَةِ فِي هَيْكَلِ الرَّبِّ بِجَمِيعِ الْكَلامِ الَّذِي أَمَرْتُكَ أَنْ تُخَاطِبَهُمْ بِهِ. وَإِيَّاكَ أَنْ تَحْذِفَ كَلِمَةً. 3 لَعَلَّهُمْ يَسْمَعُونَ وَيَرْجِعُ كُلُّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمْ عَنْ طَرِيقِهِ الأَثِيمِ، فَأَمْتَنِعَ عَنِ الشَّرِّ الَّذِي نَوَيْتُ أَنْ أُوْقِعَهُ بِهِمْ لِسُوءِ أَعْمَالِهِمْ». 4 خَاطِبْهُمْ قَائِلاً: «هَذَا مَا يُعْلِنُهُ الرَّبُّ: إِنْ لَمْ تُطِيعُونِي فَتَسْلُكُوا فِي شَرِيعَتِي الَّتِي جَعَلْتُهَا أَمَامَكُمْ، 5 وَإِنْ لَمْ تَسْمَعُوا لِتَحْذِيرَاتِ عَبِيدِي الأَنْبِياءِ الَّذِينَ أَرْسَلْتُهُمْ مُنْذُ الْبِدَايَةِ إِلَيْكُمْ، وَلَمْ تُصْغُوا إِلَيْهِمْ، 6 فَإِنِّي أَجْعَلُ هَذَا الْهَيْكَلَ نَظِيرَ شِيلُوهَ، وَهَذِهِ الْمَدِينَةَ لَعْنَةً لِجَمِيعِ أُمَمِ الأَرْضِ». 7 فَسَمِعَ الْكَهَنَةُ وَالأَنْبِياءُ وَسَائِرُ الشَّعْبِ إِرْمِيَا يُرَدِّدُ هَذَا الْكَلامَ فِي هَيْكَلِ الرَّبِّ. 8 فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ إِرْمِيَا مِنَ الإِدْلاءِ بِكُلِّ مَا أَمَرَهُ الرَّبُّ أَنْ يُخَاطِبَ بِهِ الشَّعْبَ، قَبَضَ الْكَهَنَةُ وَالأَنْبِيَاءُ وَسَائِرُ الشَّعْبَ عَلَيْهِ قَائِلِينَ: «لابُدَّ أَنْ تَمُوتَ. 9 لِمَاذَا تَنَبَّأْتَ بِاسْمِ الرَّبِّ قَائِلاً: إِنَّ مَصِيرَ هَذَا الْهَيْكَلِ سَيَكُونُ كَمَصِيرِ شِيلُوهَ، وَهَذِهِ الْمَدِينَةُ تَصِيرُ خِرَباً مَهْجُورَةً؟». وَأَحَاطَ الشَّعْبُ كُلُّهُ بِإِرْمِيَا فِي بَيْتِ الرَّبِّ. 10 وَعِنْدَمَا سَمِعَ بِذَلِكَ رُؤَسَاءُ يَهُوذَا، أَقْبَلُوا مِنْ قَصْرِ الْمَلِكِ إِلَى هَيْكَلِ الرَّبِّ وَجَلَسُوا فِي مَدْخَلِ بَوَّابَةِ هَيْكَلِ الرَّبِّ الْجَدِيدَةِ، 11 ثُمَّ خَاطَبَ الْكَهَنَةُ وَالأَنْبِيَاءُ رُؤَسَاءَ يَهُوذَا وَسَائِرَ الشَّعْبِ قَائِلِينَ: «هَذَا الرَّجُلُ يَسْتَحِقُّ حُكْمَ الْمَوْتِ. لأَنَّهُ تَنَبَّأَ عَلَى هَذِهِ الْمَدِينَةِ بِالدَّمَارِ كَمَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِآذَانِكُمْ». 12 فَقَالَ إِرْمِيَا لِجَمِيعِ الرُّؤَسَاءِ وَكُلِّ الشَّعْبِ: «الرَّبُّ قَدْ بَعَثَنِي لأَتَنَبَّأَ عَلَى هَذَا الْهَيْكَلِ وَعَلَى هَذِهِ الْمَدِينَةِ بِكُلِّ الْقَضَاءِ الَّذِي سَمِعْتُمُوهُ. 13 فَالآنَ قَوِّمُوا طُرُقَكُمْ وَأَعْمَالَكُمْ، وَأَطِيعُوا صَوْتَ الرَّبِّ إِلَهِكُمْ، فَيَمْتَنِعَ عَنِ الشَّرِّ الَّذِي قَضَى بِهِ عَلَيْكُمْ. 14 أَمَّا أَنَا فَإِنِّي فِي أَيْدِيكُمْ. اصْنَعُوا بِي مَا يَحْلُو لَكُمْ. 15 وَلَكِنْ تَيَقَّنُوا أَنَّكُمْ إِنْ قَتَلْتُمُونِي فَإِنَّكُمْ تَجْلِبُونَ دَماً بَرِيئاً عَلَى أَنْفُسِكُمْ وَعَلَى هَذِهِ الْمَدِينَةِ وَعَلَى أَهْلِهَا، لأَنَّ الرَّبَّ قَدْ بَعَثَنِي حَقّاً لأُعْلِنَ قَضَاءَهُ فِي مَسَامِعِكُمْ». 16 عِنْدَئِذٍ قَالَ الرُّؤَسَاءُ وَكُلُّ الشَّعْبِ لِلْكَهَنَةِ وَالأَنْبِيَاءِ: «هَذَا الرَّجُلُ لَا يَسْتَحِقُّ حُكْمَ الْمَوْتِ لأَنَّهُ خَاطَبَنَا بِاسْمِ الرَّبِّ إِلَهِنَا». 17 ثُمَّ قَامَ رِجَالٌ مِنْ شُيُوخِ الْبِلادِ وَقَالُوا لِجَمَاعَةِ الشَّعْبِ: 18 «إِنَّ مِيخَا الْمُورَشْتِيَّ تَنَبَّأَ فِي عَهْدِ حَزَقِيَّا مَلِكِ يَهُوذَا، وَخَاطَبَ كُلَّ شَعْبِ يَهُوذَا قَائِلاً هَذَا مَا يُعْلِنُهُ الرَّبُّ الْقَدِيرُ: إِنَّ صِهْيَوْنَ سَتُحْرَثُ كَحَقْلٍ وَتَصِيرُ أُورُشَلِيمُ كَوْمَةً مِنَ الْخَرَائِبِ، وَجَبَلُ الْهَيْكَلِ مُرْتَفَعاً تَنْمُو عَلَيْهِ أَشْجَارُ الْغَابِ. 19 فَهَلْ قَتَلَهُ حَزَقِيَّا مَلِكُ يَهُوذَا وَكُلُّ شَعْبِ يَهُوذَا؟ أَمَا اتَّقَى الرَّبَّ وَاسْتَعْطَفَهُ، فَامْتَنَعَ الرَّبُّ عَنِ الشَّرِّ الَّذِي قَضَى بِهِ عَلَيْهِمْ؟ إِنَّنَا نَكَادُ نَجْلِبُ بَلاءً عَظِيماً عَلَى أَنْفُسِنَا». 20 وَكَانَ هُنَاكَ أَيْضاً رَجُلٌ آخَرُ يُدْعَى أُورِيَّا بْنَ شِمْعِيَا مِنْ قَرْيَةِ يَعَارِيمَ يَتَنَبَّأُ بِاسْمِ الرَّبِّ، فَتَنَبَّأَ عَلَى هَذِهِ الْمَدِينَةِ وَعَلَى هَذِهِ الأَرْضِ بِمِثْلِ نُبُؤَةِ إِرْمِيَا. 21 فَبَلَغَ كَلامُهُ مَسَامِعَ الْمَلِكِ يَهُويَاقِيمَ وَجَمِيعِ مُحَارِبِيهِ الأَشِدَّاءِ وَسَائِرِ الرُّؤَسَاءِ، فَطَلَبَ الْمَلِكُ قَتْلَهُ، فَلَمَّا سَمِعَ أُورِيَّا بِذَلِكَ خَافَ وَهَرَبَ إِلَى مِصْرَ. 22 فَبَعَثَ الْمَلِكُ يَهُويَاقِيمُ رِجَالاً إِلَى مِصْرَ، مِنْهُمْ أَلْنَاثَانُ بْنُ عَكْبُورَ يَصْحَبُهُ نَفَرٌ مِنَ الْمُرَافِقِينَ، 23 فَأَخْرَجُوا أُورِيَّا مِنْ مِصْرَ وَأَتَوْا بِهِ إِلَى الْمَلِكِ يَهُويَاقِيمَ فَقَتَلَهُ بِالسَّيْفِ، وَطَرَحَ جُثَّتَهُ فِي مَقَابِرِ عَامَّةِ النَّاسِ. 24 أَمَّا إِرْمِيَا فَقَدْ حَظِيَ بِحِمَايَةِ أَخِيقَامَ بِنْ شَافَانَ فَلَمْ يُسَلَّمْ لأَيْدِي الشَّعْبِ لِيَقْتُلُوهُ.

Jeremiah threatened with death

1 Early in the reign of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, this word came from the Lord: 2 ‘This is what the Lord says: Stand in the courtyard of the Lord’s house and speak to all the people of the towns of Judah who come to worship in the house of the Lord. Tell them everything I command you; do not omit a word. 3 Perhaps they will listen and each will turn from their evil ways. Then I will relent and not inflict on them the disaster I was planning because of the evil they have done. 4 Say to them, “This is what the Lord says: if you do not listen to me and follow my law, which I have set before you, 5 and if you do not listen to the words of my servants the prophets, whom I have sent to you again and again (though you have not listened), 6 then I will make this house like Shiloh and this city a curse^[1] among all the nations of the earth.” ’ 7 The priests, the prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speak these words in the house of the Lord. 8 But as soon as Jeremiah finished telling all the people everything the Lord had commanded him to say, the priests, the prophets and all the people seized him and said, ‘You must die! 9 Why do you prophesy in the Lord’s name that this house will be like Shiloh and this city will be desolate and deserted?’ And all the people crowded around Jeremiah in the house of the Lord. 10 When the officials of Judah heard about these things, they went up from the royal palace to the house of the Lord and took their places at the entrance of the New Gate of the Lord’s house. 11 Then the priests and the prophets said to the officials and all the people, ‘This man should be sentenced to death because he has prophesied against this city. You have heard it with your own ears!’ 12 Then Jeremiah said to all the officials and all the people: ‘The Lord sent me to prophesy against this house and this city all the things you have heard. 13 Now reform your ways and your actions and obey the Lord your God. Then the Lord will relent and not bring the disaster he has pronounced against you. 14 As for me, I am in your hands; do with me whatever you think is good and right. 15 Be assured, however, that if you put me to death, you will bring the guilt of innocent blood on yourselves and on this city and on those who live in it, for in truth the Lord has sent me to you to speak all these words in your hearing.’ 16 Then the officials and all the people said to the priests and the prophets, ‘This man should not be sentenced to death! He has spoken to us in the name of the Lord our God.’ 17 Some of the elders of the land stepped forward and said to the entire assembly of people, 18 ‘Micah of Moresheth prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah. He told all the people of Judah, “This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘ “Zion will be ploughed like a field, Jerusalem will become a heap of rubble, the temple hill a mound overgrown with thickets.” (Mi 3,12) 19 ‘Did Hezekiah king of Judah or anyone else in Judah put him to death? Did not Hezekiah fear the Lord and seek his favour? And did not the Lord relent, so that he did not bring the disaster he pronounced against them? We are about to bring a terrible disaster on ourselves!’ 20 (Now Uriah son of Shemaiah from Kiriath Jearim was another man who prophesied in the name of the Lord; he prophesied the same things against this city and this land as Jeremiah did. 21 When King Jehoiakim and all his officers and officials heard his words, the king was determined to put him to death. But Uriah heard of it and fled in fear to Egypt. 22 King Jehoiakim, however, sent Elnathan son of Akbor to Egypt, along with some other men. 23 They brought Uriah out of Egypt and took him to King Jehoiakim, who had him struck down with a sword and his body thrown into the burial place of the common people.) 24 Furthermore, Ahikam son of Shaphan supported Jeremiah, and so he was not handed over to the people to be put to death.
