1 Der Hunger lastete schwer auf dem Land. 2 Das Getreide, das sie aus Ägypten geholt hatten, war inzwischen völlig aufgezehrt. Da sagte ihr Vater zu ihnen: „Geht noch einmal hin und kauft uns etwas zu essen!“ 3 Juda entgegnete: „Der Mann hat uns ernstlich verwarnt und gesagt: 'Kommt mir nicht unter die Augen ohne euren Bruder!' 4 Wenn du unseren Bruder mitgehen lässt, ziehen wir hin und kaufen Nahrung für dich; 5 wenn nicht, bleiben wir hier, denn der Mann hat gesagt: 'Kommt mir nicht unter die Augen ohne euren Bruder!'“ 6 Da sagte Israel: „Warum habt ihr mir das Leid angetan und ihm verraten, dass ihr noch einen Bruder habt?“ 7 Sie erwiderten: „Der Mann erkundigte sich genau nach uns und unserer Familie. 'Lebt euer Vater noch?', wollte er wissen. 'Habt ihr noch einen Bruder?' Da haben wir ihm gesagt, wie es sich verhält. Wir konnten doch nicht ahnen, dass er sagen würde: 'Bringt euren Bruder her!'“ 8 Da sagte Juda zu seinem Vater Israel: „Schick den Jungen mit mir, damit wir aufbrechen können und nicht alle sterben müssen, wir und du und unsere Kinder. 9 Ich selbst will Bürge für ihn sein. Von mir sollst du ihn zurückfordern. Mein Leben lang will ich vor dir schuldig sein, wenn ich ihn nicht lebend zu dir zurückbringe! 10 Hätten wir nicht so lange gezögert, wären wir schon zweimal wieder da.“ 11 Da sagte Israel, ihr Vater, zu ihnen: „Wenn es also sein muss, nehmt ihn mit. Aber nehmt dem Mann ein Geschenk vom Besten unseres Landes mit: ein wenig Mastix, Tragakant und Ladanum,^[1] ein wenig Traubenhonig,^[2] Pistazien und Mandeln! (1Mo 37,25) 12 Nehmt auch den doppelten Geldbetrag mit und bringt das Geld, das sich oben in euren Säcken fand, eigenhändig zurück. Vielleicht war es ein Versehen. 13 Und dann nehmt euren Bruder mit und kehrt zu dem Mann zurück! 14 El-Schaddai, der allmächtige Gott, lasse euch Erbarmen finden bei dem Mann, dass er euren anderen Bruder und Benjamin wieder mit euch heimkehren lässt. Und ich – wenn ich kinderlos sein soll, muss ich eben kinderlos sein.“

Zweite Reise nach Ägypten

15 Dann packten die Männer das doppelte Geld und die Geschenke ein und reisten mit Benjamin nach Ägypten. So kamen sie zu Josef. 16 Als Josef Benjamin bei ihnen sah, sagte er zu seinem Hausverwalter: „Lass die Männer ins Haus kommen, lass schlachten und zurichten, denn sie sollen bei mir zu Mittag essen!“ 17 Der gehorchte und führte die Männer zum Haus Josefs. 18 Als sie merkten, dass sie dorthin geführt wurden, bekamen sie Angst und sagten zueinander: „Das ist wegen des Geldes, das wieder in unsere Säcke geraten ist. Sie werden über uns herfallen, uns die Esel wegnehmen und uns zu Sklaven machen.“ 19 Darum wandten sie sich an den Verwalter Josefs und sprachen ihn noch vor dem Tor an. 20 „Bitte Herr“, sagten sie zu ihm, „wir sind das vorige Mal wirklich nur hergekommen, um Getreide zu kaufen. 21 Als wir dann aber in die Herberge kamen und unsere Säcke öffneten, fanden wir das ganze Geld, das wir bezahlt hatten, oben im Sack liegen. Darum haben wir es wieder mitgebracht 22 und dazu neues Geld, um Nahrungsmittel zu kaufen. Wir wissen nicht, wer uns das Geld wieder in die Säcke gelegt hat.“ 23 Doch er sagte: „Friede sei mit euch! Habt keine Angst! Euer Gott, der Gott eures Vaters, hat euch einen Schatz in eure Säcke gegeben! Euer Geld habe ich erhalten.“ Dann brachte er Simeon zu ihnen 24 und führte sie alle miteinander in Josefs Haus. Er ließ ihnen Wasser bringen, damit sie ihre Füße waschen konnten, und ihren Eseln ließ er Futter geben. 25 Sie legten inzwischen die Geschenke zurecht, bis Josef am Mittag käme, denn sie hatten gehört, dass sie dort essen sollten. 26 Als Josef nach Hause kam, brachten sie ihm die Geschenke und warfen sich vor ihm auf den Boden. 27 Josef erkundigte sich nach ihrem Wohlergehen und fragte dann: „Geht es eurem alten Vater wohl, von dem ihr gesprochen habt? Lebt er noch?“ 28 Sie sagten: „Es geht deinem Diener, unserem Vater, gut. Ja, er lebt noch.“ Und noch einmal warfen sie sich vor ihm nieder. 29 Da erblickte er seinen Bruder Benjamin, den Sohn seiner eigenen Mutter. „Ist das euer jüngster Bruder, von dem ihr gesprochen habt?“, fragte er und sagte: „Gott segne dich, mein Sohn!“ 30 Dann lief er schnell hinaus, denn beim Anblick seines Bruders wurde er sehr bewegt und war nahe daran zu weinen. Er ging in sein Privatzimmer und weinte dort. 31 Dann wusch er sich das Gesicht und kam zurück. Er nahm sich zusammen und befahl: „Tragt das Essen auf!“ 32 Man trug das Essen auf, getrennt für ihn, für sie und für die anwesenden Ägypter. Ägypter essen nicht an einem Tisch mit Hebräern, denn das gilt ihnen als Gräuel. 33 Die Brüder kamen vor Josef zu sitzen, genau nach ihrem Alter geordnet. Da sahen sie sich staunend an. 34 Josef ließ ihnen von den Gerichten servieren, die auf seinem eigenen Tisch aufgetragen wurden. Die Portion Benjamins war fünfmal größer als die der anderen. Sie tranken mit ihm, bis sie in ausgelassener Stimmung waren.

1 وَتَفَاقَمَتِ الْمَجَاعَةُ فِي الأَرْضِ. 2 وَلَمَّا اسْتَهْلَكُوا الْقَمْحَ الَّذِي أَحْضَرُوهُ مِنْ مِصْرَ، قَالَ لَهُمْ أَبُوهُمْ: «ارْجِعُوا وَاشْتَرُوا لَنَا قَلِيلاً مِنَ الطَّعَامِ». 3 فَقَالَ يَهُوذَا: «لَقَدْ حَذَّرَنَا الرَّجُلُ أَشَدَّ تَحْذِيرٍ وَقَالَ: لَنْ تَرَوْا وَجْهِي مَا لَمْ يَكُنْ أَخُوكُمْ مَعَكُمْ. 4 فَإِنْ كُنْتَ تُرْسِلُ أَخَانَا مَعَنَا، نَمْضِي وَنَشْتَرِي لَكَ طَعَاماً 5 وَإلَّا فَلَنْ نَذْهَبَ لأَنَّ الرَّجُلَ قَالَ لَنَا: لَا تَرَوْا وَجْهِي مَا لَمْ يَكُنْ أَخُوكُمْ مَعَكُمْ». 6 فَقَالَ إِسْرَائِيلُ: «لِمَاذَا أَسَأْتُمْ إِلَيَّ فَأَخْبَرْتُمُ الرَّجُلَ أَنَّ لَكُمْ أَخاً أَيْضاً؟» 7 فَأَجَابُوا: «إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ قَدْ دَقَّقَ فِي اسْتِجْوَابِنَا عَنْ أَنْفُسِنَا وَعَنْ عَشِيرَتِنَا سَائِلاً: هَلْ أَبُوكُمْ حَيٌّ بَعْدُ؟ هَلْ لَكُمْ أَخٌ؟ فَأَجَبْنَاهُ حَسَبَ أَسْئِلَتِهِ. فَمِنْ أَيْنَ لَنَا أَنْ نَعْرِفَ أَنَّهُ سَيَقُولُ: أَحْضِرُوا أَخَاكُمْ إِلَى هُنَا؟» 8 وَقَالَ يَهُوذَا لإِسْرَائِيلَ أَبِيهِ: «أَرْسِلِ الْغُلامَ مَعِي فَنَقُومَ وَنَذْهَبَ فَنَحْيَا وَلا نَمُوتَ نَحْنُ وَأَنْتَ وَأَوْلادُنَا جَمِيعاً. 9 وَأَنَا ضَامِنٌ لَهُ. مِنْ يَدِي تَطْلُبُهُ. فَإِنْ لَمْ أَرُدَّهُ إِلَيْكَ وَأُوقِفْهُ أَمَامَكَ، أَكُنْ مُذْنِباً إِلَيْكَ كُلَّ الأَيَّامِ. 10 فَلَوْ لَمْ نَتَوَانَ فِي السَّفَرِ لَكُنَّا قَدْ رَجَعْنَا مَرَّتَيْنِ». 11 فَقَالَ لَهُمْ أَبُوهُمْ: «إِنْ كَانَ لابُدَّ مِنْ ذَلِكَ فَافْعَلُوا. وَخُذُوا مَعَكُمْ هَدِيَّةً لِلرَّجُلِ: وَامْلَأُوا أَوْعِيَتَكُمْ مِنْ أَحْسَنِ مَا تُنْتِجُهُ الأَرْضُ وَقَلِيلاً مِنَ الْبَلَسَانِ وَالْعَسَلِ وِالتَّوَابِلِ الْمُرِّ وَالْفُسْتُقِ وَاللَّوْزِ. 12 وَخُذُوا مَعَكُمْ فِضَّةً أُخْرَى، وَالْفِضَّةَ الْمَرْدُودَةَ فِي أَفْوَاهِ أَكْيَاسِكُمْ وَأَعِيدُوهَا. فَلَعَلَّ فِي الأَمْرِ سَهْواً. 13 وَاسْتَصْحِبُوا مَعَكُمْ أَيْضاً أَخَاكُمْ وَقُومُوا ارْجِعُوا إِلَى الرَّجُلِ. 14 وَلْيُنْعِمْ عَلَيْكُمُ اللهُ الْقَدِيرُ بِالرَّحْمَةِ لَدَى الرَّجُلِ، فَيُطْلِقَ لَكُمْ أَخَاكُمُ الآخَرَ وَبَنْيَامِينَ أَيْضاً. وَأَنَا إِنْ ثَكِلْتُهُمَا، أَكُونُ قَدْ ثَكِلْتُهُمَا». 15 فَأَخَذَ الرِّجَالُ تِلْكَ الْهَدِيَّةَ، وَضِعْفَ الْفِضَّةِ، وَبَنْيَامِينَ، وَسَافَرُوا إِلَى مِصْرَ وَمَثَلُوا أَمَامَ يُوسُفَ. 16 وَعِنْدَمَا شَاهَدَ يُوسُفُ بِنْيَامِينَ مَعَهُمْ قَالَ لِمُدَبِّرِ بَيْتِهِ: «أَدْخِلِ الرِّجَالَ إِلَى الْبَيْتِ وَاذْبَحْ ذَبِيحَةً وَهَيِّئْهَا، لأَنَّ هَؤُلاءِ الرِّجَالَ سَيَتَنَاوَلُونَ مَعِي الطَّعَامَ فِي سَاعَةِ الْغَذَاءِ». 17 فَفَعَلَ الرَّجُلُ كَمَا أَمَرَ يُوسُفُ، وَأَدْخَلَ الرِّجَالَ إِلَى بَيْتِ يُوسُفَ. 18 وَلَمَّا أُدْخِلُوا إِلَى بَيْتِ يُوسُفَ اعْتَرَاهُمُ الْخَوْفُ وَقَالُوا: «لَقَدْ جِيءَ بِنَا إِلَى هُنَا لِيَهْجُمَ عَلَيْنَا وَيَقَعَ بِنَا وَيَسْتَعْبِدَنَا وَيَسْتَوْلِيَ عَلَى حَمِيرِنَا، بِسَبَبِ الْفِضَّةِ الأُولَى الْمَرْدُودَةِ فِي أَكْيَاسِنَا». 19 فَتَقَدَّمُوا إِلَى مُدَبِّرِ بَيْتِ يُوسُفَ وَقَالُوا لَهُ عِنْدَ مَدْخَلِ الْبَابِ: 20 «اسْتَمِعْ يَا سَيِّدِي، لَقَدْ قَدِمْنَا إِلَى هُنَا فِي الْمَرَّةِ الأُولَى لِنَشْتَرِيَ طَعَاماً، 21 وَلَكِنَّنَا حِينَ نَزَلْنَا فِي الْخَانِ وَفَتَحْنَا أَكْيَاسَنَا عَثَرَ كُلُّ رَجُلٍ مِنَّا عَلَى فِضَّتِهِ بِكَامِلِ وَزْنِهَا فِي فَمِ كِيسِهِ، فَأَحْضَرْنَاهَا مَعَنَا لِنَرُدَّهَا. 22 وَجِئْنَا مَعَنَا بِفِضَّةٍ أُخْرَى لِنَشْتَرِيَ طَعَاماً. وَلَسْنَا نَدْرِي مَنْ وَضَعَ فِضَّتَنَا فِي أَكْيَاسِنَا». 23 فَقَالَ: «سَلامٌ لَكُمْ، لَا تَخَافُوا، فَإِنَّ إِلَهَكُمْ وَإِلَهَ أَبِيكُمْ قَدْ وَهَبَكُمْ كَنْزاً فِي أَكْيَاسِكُمْ، أَمَّا فِضَّتُكُمْ فَقَدْ وَصَلَتْ إِلَيَّ». ثُمَّ أَخْرَجَ إِلَيْهِمْ شِمْعُونَ. 24 وَأَدْخَلَ الرَّجُلُ الْقَوْمَ إِلَى بَيْتِ يُوسُفَ وَقَدَّمَ لَهُمْ مَاءً لِيَغْسِلُوا أَرْجُلَهُمْ، وَعَلِيقاً لِحَمِيرِهِمْ. 25 وَأَعَدُّوا الْهَدِيَّةَ فِي انْتِظَارِ مَجِيءِ يُوسُفَ عِنْدَ الظُّهْرِ، لأَنَّهُمْ سَمِعُوا أَنَّهُمْ سَيَتَنَاوَلُونَ الطَّعَامَ هُنَاكَ. 26 فَلَمَّا أَقْبَلَ يُوسُفُ إِلَى الْبَيْتِ أَحْضَرُوا إِلَيْهِ الْهَدِيَّةَ الَّتِي حَمَلُوهَا مَعَهُمْ إِلَى الْبَيْتِ، وَانْحَنَوْا أَمَامَهُ إِلَى الأَرْضِ. 27 فَسَأَلَهُمْ عَنْ أَحْوَالِهِمْ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: «هَلْ أَبُوكُمُ الشَّيْخُ الَّذِي أَخْبَرْتُمْ عَنْهُ بِخَيْرٍ؟ أَمَازَالَ حَيًّا؟» 28 فَأَجَابُوا: «عَبْدُكَ أَبُونَا بِخَيْرٍ، وَهُوَ مَازَالَ حَيًّا». وَانْحَنَوْا وَسَجَدُوا. 29 وَتَلَفَّتَ فَرَأَى أَخَاهُ الشَّقِيقَ بِنْيَامِينَ، فَقَالَ: «أَهَذَا أَخُوكُمُ الأَصْغَرُ الَّذِي أَخْبَرْتُمُونِي عَنْهُ؟» ثُمَّ قَالَ: «لِيُنْعِمِ اللهُ عَلَيْكَ يَا ابْنِي». 30 وَانْدَفَعَ يُوسُفُ إِلَى مُخْدَعِهِ وَبَكَى هُنَاكَ لأَنَّ عَوَاطِفَهُ حَنَّتْ إِلَى أَخِيهِ. 31 ثُمَّ غَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ وَخَرَجَ مُمْسِكاً نَفْسَهُ عَنْ الْبُكَاءِ، وَقَالَ: «قَدِّمُوا الطَّعَامَ». 32 فَقَدَّمُوا لَهُ وَحْدَهُ، وَلَهُمْ وَحْدَهُمْ، وَلِلْمِصْرِيِّينَ الآكِلِينَ مَعَهُ وَحْدَهُمْ، إِذْ أَنَّهُ مَحْظُورٌ عَلَى الْمِصْرِيِّينَ أَنْ يَأْكُلُوا مَعَ الْعِبْرَانِيِّينَ، لأَنَّ ذَلِكَ رِجْسٌ عِنْدَهُمْ. 33 فَجَلَسُوا فِي مَحْضَرِهِ، كُلٌّ وَفْقاً لِعُمْرِهِ، مِنَ الْبِكْرِ حَتَّى الصَّغِيرِ. فَنَظَرُوا بَعْضُهُمْ إِلَى بَعْضٍ مُتَعَجِّبِين. 34 وَقَدَّمَ إِلَيْهِمْ حِصَصاً مِنْ مَائِدَتِهِ، فَكَانَتْ حِصَّةُ بِنْيَامِينَ خَمْسَةَ أَضْعَافِ حِصَصِ إِخْوَتِهِ. وَاحْتَفُوا وَشَرِبُوا مَعَهُ.

Joseph’s Brothers Return to Egypt

1 Now the famine was severe in the land. (1Mo 41,54; 1Mo 41,57) 2 And when they had eaten the grain that they had brought from Egypt, their father said to them, “Go again, buy us a little food.” 3 But Judah said to him, “The man solemnly warned us, saying, ‘You shall not see my face unless your brother is with you.’ (1Mo 42,20; 1Mo 44,23) 4 If you will send our brother with us, we will go down and buy you food. 5 But if you will not send him, we will not go down, for the man said to us, ‘You shall not see my face, unless your brother is with you.’” 6 Israel said, “Why did you treat me so badly as to tell the man that you had another brother?” 7 They replied, “The man questioned us carefully about ourselves and our kindred, saying, ‘Is your father still alive? Do you have another brother?’ What we told him was in answer to these questions. Could we in any way know that he would say, ‘Bring your brother down’?” 8 And Judah said to Israel his father, “Send the boy with me, and we will arise and go, that we may live and not die, both we and you and also our little ones. (1Mo 42,2) 9 I will be a pledge of his safety. From my hand you shall require him. If I do not bring him back to you and set him before you, then let me bear the blame forever. (1Mo 42,37; 1Mo 44,32) 10 If we had not delayed, we would now have returned twice.” 11 Then their father Israel said to them, “If it must be so, then do this: take some of the choice fruits of the land in your bags, and carry a present down to the man, a little balm and a little honey, gum, myrrh, pistachio nuts, and almonds. (1Mo 37,25) 12 Take double the money with you. Carry back with you the money that was returned in the mouth of your sacks. Perhaps it was an oversight. (1Mo 42,25; 1Mo 42,27; 1Mo 42,35) 13 Take also your brother, and arise, go again to the man. 14 May God Almighty^[1] grant you mercy before the man, and may he send back your other brother and Benjamin. And as for me, if I am bereaved of my children, I am bereaved.” (1Mo 17,1; 1Mo 42,36; Neh 1,11) 15 So the men took this present, and they took double the money with them, and Benjamin. 17 The man did as Joseph told him and brought the men to Joseph’s house. 18 And the men were afraid because they were brought to Joseph’s house, and they said, “It is because of the money, which was replaced in our sacks the first time, that we are brought in, so that he may assault us and fall upon us to make us servants and seize our donkeys.” 19 So they went up to the steward of Joseph’s house and spoke with him at the door of the house, 20 and said, “Oh, my lord, we came down the first time to buy food. (1Mo 42,3; 1Mo 42,10; 1Mo 44,18) 21 And when we came to the lodging place we opened our sacks, and there was each man’s money in the mouth of his sack, our money in full weight. So we have brought it again with us, (1Mo 42,27) 22 and we have brought other money down with us to buy food. We do not know who put our money in our sacks.” 23 He replied, “Peace to you, do not be afraid. Your God and the God of your father has put treasure in your sacks for you. I received your money.” Then he brought Simeon out to them. 24 And when the man had brought the men into Joseph’s house and given them water, and they had washed their feet, and when he had given their donkeys fodder, (1Mo 18,4) 25 they prepared the present for Joseph’s coming at noon, for they heard that they should eat bread there. (1Mo 43,11) 26 When Joseph came home, they brought into the house to him the present that they had with them and bowed down to him to the ground. (1Mo 37,5; 1Mo 42,6) 27 And he inquired about their welfare and said, “Is your father well, the old man of whom you spoke? Is he still alive?” (1Mo 42,11; 1Mo 42,13) 28 They said, “Your servant our father is well; he is still alive.” And they bowed their heads and prostrated themselves. (1Mo 43,26) 29 And he lifted up his eyes and saw his brother Benjamin, his mother’s son, and said, “Is this your youngest brother, of whom you spoke to me? God be gracious to you, my son!” (1Mo 35,18; 1Mo 43,27) 30 Then Joseph hurried out, for his compassion grew warm for his brother, and he sought a place to weep. And he entered his chamber and wept there. (1Mo 42,24; 1Kön 3,26; Jer 31,20) 31 Then he washed his face and came out. And controlling himself he said, “Serve the food.” (1Mo 45,1) 32 They served him by himself, and them by themselves, and the Egyptians who ate with him by themselves, because the Egyptians could not eat with the Hebrews, for that is an abomination to the Egyptians. (1Mo 46,34; 2Mo 8,26) 33 And they sat before him, the firstborn according to his birthright and the youngest according to his youth. And the men looked at one another in amazement. 34 Portions were taken to them from Joseph’s table, but Benjamin’s portion was five times as much as any of theirs. And they drank and were merry^[2] with him. (1Mo 45,22; 2Sam 11,8)

15 Они взяли подарки и вдвое больше серебра, затем взяли Вениамина, немедля отправились в Египет и предстали перед Юсуфом. 16 Когда Юсуф увидел, что Вениамин с ними, он сказал своему управляющему: – Отведи этих людей ко мне в дом, заколи что-нибудь из скота и приготовь обед; они будут есть со мной в полдень. 17 Человек сделал, как ему было велено, и привёл их в дом Юсуфа. 18 Они испугались, когда их привели к нему в дом, потому что подумали: «Нас привели сюда из-за серебра, которое вернулось в наши мешки в первый раз. Он хочет напасть на нас, и одолеть, и взять в рабство, и забрать наших ослов». 19 Они подошли к управляющему Юсуфа и заговорили с ним у входа в дом: 20 – Послушай, господин, – сказали они, – мы уже приходили сюда один раз купить еды, 21 но когда мы остановились на ночь и развязали мешки, каждый из нас нашёл там своё серебро полным весом; поэтому мы принесли его обратно. 22 Мы принесли с собой и ещё серебра, чтобы купить еды, и мы не знаем, кто в прошлый раз положил наше серебро к нам в мешки. 23 Он ответил: – Всё в порядке, не бойтесь. Ваш Бог – Бог вашего отца – положил это сокровище в ваши мешки, а я получил ваше серебро. Затем он вывел к ним Шимона. 24 Управляющий привёл братьев в дом Юсуфа, дал им воды вымыть ноги и дал корма их ослам. 25 Они приготовили подарки к прибытию Юсуфа в полдень, потому что им сказали, что они будут там обедать. 26 Когда Юсуф пришёл домой, они преподнесли ему подарки и склонились перед ним до земли. 27 Он спросил их о здоровье, потом сказал: – А как ваш престарелый отец, о котором вы говорили мне? Жив ли он ещё? 28 Они ответили: – Раб твой, наш отец, ещё жив и здоров. И почтительно поклонились ему. 29 Он оглянулся и увидел своего брата Вениамина, сына своей матери. Он спросил: – Это ваш младший брат, тот, о котором вы говорили мне? Всевышний да будет милостив к тебе, мой сын. 30 Глубоко тронутый видом брата, он поспешно ушёл и искал укромного места. Он вошёл к себе в комнату и там разрыдался. 31 Затем, умыв лицо, он вновь вышел к гостям и, взяв себя в руки, сказал: – Подавайте еду. 32 Ему подали отдельно, братьям отдельно и египтянам, которые ели с ним, отдельно, потому что египтяне не могли есть с евреями, это было мерзко для египтян. 33 Братьев усадили перед ним по возрасту, от первенца до младшего; и они глядели друг на друга в изумлении. 34 Им подавали кушанья со стола Юсуфа, и доля Вениамина была впятеро больше, чем у других. Они пировали и пили с ним вволю.
