1 Ein Psalmlied von David. Gebt Jahwe, ihr himmlischen Wesen, / gebt Jahwe Ehre und Macht! 2 Gebt Jahwe die Ehre, die ihm gebührt, / betet ihn an in heiliger Pracht. 3 Die Stimme Jahwes schallt über der Flut. / Der Gott der Herrlichkeit lässt Donner dröhnen, / Jahwe beherrscht das gewaltige Meer. 4 Die Stimme Jahwes voller Macht, / ist herrlich und furchtbar zugleich. 5 Die Stimme Jahwes spaltet mächtige Bäume, / Libanonzedern zersplittern vor ihm. 6 Der Libanon hüpft vor ihm wie ein Kalb, / wie ein junger Büffel springt der Hermon[1] auf. 7 Die Stimme Jahwes sprüht zuckende Flammen. 8 Die Stimme Jahwes lässt Wüsten erzittern. / Auch die Wüste von Kadesch[2] erbebt. 9 Die Stimme Jahwes wirbelt Eichen empor, / reißt ganze Wälder kahl. / Und in seinem Tempel ruft alles: „Ehre sei Gott!“ 10 Jahwe thront über den Fluten, / er herrscht als ewiger König! 11 Seinem Volk verleiht er Kraft / und segnet es mit Frieden!

1 A Psalm of David. Ascribe to the Lord, O heavenly beings,[1] ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. (1Chr 16,28; Ps 68,34; Ps 96,7) 2 Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness.[2] (2Mo 28,2; 1Chr 16,29; Ps 110,3) 3 The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the Lord, over many waters. (Hi 37,4; Ps 18,11) 4 The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty. (Ps 68,33) 5 The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars; the Lord breaks the cedars of Lebanon. (Ri 9,15; Ps 104,16) 6 He makes Lebanon to skip like a calf, and Sirion like a young wild ox. (4Mo 23,22; 5Mo 3,9; Ps 114,4; Ps 114,6) 7 The voice of the Lord flashes forth flames of fire. 8 The voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness; the Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh. (4Mo 13,26) 9 The voice of the Lord makes the deer give birth[3] and strips the forests bare, and in his temple all cry, “Glory!” (Hi 39,1) 10 The Lord sits enthroned over the flood; the Lord sits enthroned as king forever. (1Mo 6,17; Ps 10,16) 11 May the Lord give strength to his people! May the Lord bless[4] his people with peace! (Ps 68,35; Jes 40,29; Phil 4,7)
