1 Ouve-me, ó Deus, quando faço a minha queixa; protege a minha vida do inimigo ameaçador. 2 Defende-me da conspiração dos ímpios e da ruidosa multidão de malfeitores. 3 Eles afiam a língua como espada e apontam, como flechas, palavras envenenadas. 4 De onde estão emboscados atiram no homem íntegro; atiram de surpresa, sem nenhum temor. 5 Animam-se uns aos outros com planos malignos, combinam como ocultar as suas armadilhas, e dizem: “Quem as[1] verá?” 6 Tramam a injustiça e dizem: “Fizemos[2] um plano perfeito!” A mente e o coração de cada um deles o escondem![3] 7 Mas Deus atirará neles suas flechas; repentinamente serão atingidos. 8 Pelas próprias palavras farão cair uns aos outros; menearão a cabeça e zombarão deles todos os que os virem. 9 Todos os homens temerão e proclamarão as obras de Deus, refletindo no que ele fez. 10 Alegrem-se os justos no SENHOR e nele busquem refúgio; congratulem-se todos os retos de coração!

1 To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. Hear my voice, O God, in my complaint; preserve my life from dread of the enemy. (Sl 55:2) 2 Hide me from the secret plots of the wicked, from the throng of evildoers, (Sl 55:14) 3 who whet their tongues like swords, who aim bitter words like arrows, (Sl 11:2; Sl 57:4) 4 shooting from ambush at the blameless, shooting at him suddenly and without fear. (Sl 10:8; Sl 55:19) 5 They hold fast to their evil purpose; they talk of laying snares secretly, thinking, “Who can see them?” (Jó 22:13; Sl 140:5; Jr 23:14; Ez 13:22) 6 They search out injustice, saying, “We have accomplished a diligent search.” For the inward mind and heart of a man are deep. (Sl 49:11) 7 But God shoots his arrow at them; they are wounded suddenly. (Sl 7:12; Sl 58:7) 8 They are brought to ruin, with their own tongues turned against them; all who see them will wag their heads. (Sl 22:7; Sl 40:3; Pv 12:13; Pv 18:7; Jr 18:16; Jr 48:27) 9 Then all mankind fears; they tell what God has brought about and ponder what he has done. (Sl 64:8; Jr 50:28; Jr 51:10) 10 Let the righteous one rejoice in the Lord and take refuge in him! Let all the upright in heart exult! (Jó 22:19; Sl 7:10; Sl 11:1; Sl 32:11)
