1Aproximaram-se as filhas de Zelofeade, filho de Héfer, neto de Gileade, bisneto de Maquir, trineto de Manassés; pertencia aos clãs de Manassés, filho de José. Os nomes das suas filhas eram Maalá, Noa, Hogla, Milca e Tirza.2Elas se prostraram à entrada da Tenda do Encontro diante de Moisés, do sacerdote Eleazar, dos líderes de toda a comunidade, e disseram:3“Nosso pai morreu no deserto. Ele não estava entre os seguidores de Corá, que se ajuntaram contra o SENHOR, mas morreu por causa do seu próprio pecado e não deixou filhos.4Por que o nome de nosso pai deveria desaparecer de seu clã por não ter tido um filho? Dê-nos propriedade entre os parentes de nosso pai”.5Moisés levou o caso perante o SENHOR,6e o SENHOR lhe disse:7“As filhas de Zelofeade têm razão. Você lhes dará propriedade como herança entre os parentes do pai delas e lhes passará a herança do pai.8“Diga aos israelitas: Se um homem morrer e não deixar filho, transfiram a sua herança para a sua filha.9Se ele não tiver filha, deem a sua herança aos irmãos dele.10Se não tiver irmãos, deem-na aos irmãos de seu pai.11Se ainda seu pai não tiver irmãos, deem a herança ao parente mais próximo em seu clã”. Esta será uma exigência legal para os israelitas, como o SENHOR ordenou a Moisés.
Josué, Sucessor de Moisés
12Então o SENHOR disse a Moisés: “Suba este monte da serra de Abarim e veja a terra que dei aos israelitas.13Depois de vê-la, você também será reunido ao seu povo, como seu irmão Arão,14pois, quando a comunidade se rebelou nas águas do deserto de Zim, vocês dois desobedeceram à minha ordem de honrar minha santidade perante eles”. Isso aconteceu nas águas de Meribá, em Cades, no deserto de Zim.15Moisés disse ao SENHOR:16“Que o SENHOR, o Deus que a todos dá vida[1], designe um homem como líder desta comunidade17para conduzi-los em suas batalhas, para que a comunidade do SENHOR não seja como ovelhas sem pastor”.18Então o SENHOR disse a Moisés: “Chame Josué, filho de Num, homem em quem está o Espírito[2], e imponha as mãos sobre ele.19Faça-o apresentar-se ao sacerdote Eleazar e a toda a comunidade e o comissione na presença deles.20Dê-lhe parte da sua autoridade para que toda a comunidade de Israel lhe obedeça.21Ele deverá apresentar-se ao sacerdote Eleazar, que lhe dará diretrizes ao consultar o Urim[3] perante o SENHOR. Josué e toda a comunidade dos israelitas seguirão suas instruções quando saírem para a batalha”.22Moisés fez como o SENHOR lhe ordenou. Chamou Josué e o apresentou ao sacerdote Eleazar e a toda a comunidade.23Impôs as mãos sobre ele e o comissionou. Tudo conforme o SENHOR tinha dito por meio de Moisés.
1Then drew near the daughters of Zelophehad the son of Hepher, son of Gilead, son of Machir, son of Manasseh, from the clans of Manasseh the son of Joseph. The names of his daughters were: Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah. (Nm 26:33; Nm 36:11; Js 17:3)2And they stood before Moses and before Eleazar the priest and before the chiefs and all the congregation, at the entrance of the tent of meeting, saying,3“Our father died in the wilderness. He was not among the company of those who gathered themselves together against the LORD in the company of Korah, but died for his own sin. And he had no sons. (Nm 14:35; Nm 16:1; Nm 16:2; Nm 26:64; Nm 26:65; Ez 18:4)4Why should the name of our father be taken away from his clan because he had no son? Give to us a possession among our father’s brothers.” (Js 17:4)5Moses brought their case before the LORD. (Ex 18:19)6And the LORD said to Moses,7“The daughters of Zelophehad are right. You shall give them possession of an inheritance among their father’s brothers and transfer the inheritance of their father to them. (Nm 36:2; Nm 36:5)8And you shall speak to the people of Israel, saying, ‘If a man dies and has no son, then you shall transfer his inheritance to his daughter.9And if he has no daughter, then you shall give his inheritance to his brothers.10And if he has no brothers, then you shall give his inheritance to his father’s brothers.11And if his father has no brothers, then you shall give his inheritance to the nearest kinsman of his clan, and he shall possess it. And it shall be for the people of Israel a statute and rule, as the LORD commanded Moses.’” (Nm 35:29; Rt 4:3; Jr 32:6)
Joshua to Succeed Moses
12The LORD said to Moses, “Go up into this mountain of Abarim and see the land that I have given to the people of Israel. (Nm 21:11; Nm 33:44; Nm 33:47; Dt 3:27; Dt 32:49; Dt 34:1)13When you have seen it, you also shall be gathered to your people, as your brother Aaron was, (Nm 20:24)14because you rebelled against my word in the wilderness of Zin when the congregation quarreled, failing to uphold me as holy at the waters before their eyes.” (These are the waters of Meribah of Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.) (Ex 17:7; Nm 20:12; Nm 20:13; Nm 20:24; Dt 32:51)15Moses spoke to the LORD, saying,16“Let the LORD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the congregation (Nm 16:22)17who shall go out before them and come in before them, who shall lead them out and bring them in, that the congregation of the LORD may not be as sheep that have no shepherd.” (Dt 31:2; Js 14:11; 1 Sm 8:20; 1 Sm 18:13; 1 Rs 3:7; 1 Rs 22:17; 2 Cr 1:10; Ez 34:5; Zc 10:2; Mt 9:36; Mc 6:34)18So the LORD said to Moses, “Take Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him. (Gn 41:38; Nm 32:28; Dt 34:9; Jz 3:10)19Make him stand before Eleazar the priest and all the congregation, and you shall commission him in their sight. (Dt 3:28; Dt 31:7; Dt 31:8)20You shall invest him with some of your authority, that all the congregation of the people of Israel may obey. (Js 1:16)21And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall inquire for him by the judgment of the Urim before the LORD. At his word they shall go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he and all the people of Israel with him, the whole congregation.” (Ex 28:30)22And Moses did as the LORD commanded him. He took Joshua and made him stand before Eleazar the priest and the whole congregation,23and he laid his hands on him and commissioned him as the LORD directed through Moses. (Nm 19:1)
