1Então o SENHOR me dirigiu a palavra, dizendo:2“Não se case nem tenha filhos ou filhas neste lugar”;3porque assim diz o SENHOR a respeito dos filhos e filhas nascidos nesta terra e a respeito das mulheres que forem suas mães e dos homens que forem seus pais:4“Eles morrerão de doenças graves; ninguém pranteará por eles; não serão sepultados, mas servirão de esterco para o solo. Perecerão pela espada e pela fome, e os seus cadáveres serão o alimento das aves e dos animais”.5Porque assim diz o SENHOR: “Não entre numa casa onde há luto; não vá prantear nem apresentar condolências, porque retirei a minha paz, o meu amor leal e a minha compaixão deste povo”, declara o SENHOR.6“Tanto grandes como pequenos morrerão nesta terra; não serão sepultados nem se pranteará por eles; não se farão incisões nem se rapará a cabeça por causa deles.7Ninguém oferecerá comida para fortalecer os que pranteiam pelos mortos; ninguém dará de beber do cálice da consolação nem mesmo pelo pai ou pela mãe.8“Não entre numa casa em que há um banquete, para se assentar com eles a fim de comer e beber”.9Porque assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel: “Farei cessar neste lugar, diante dos olhos de vocês e durante a vida de vocês, a voz de júbilo e a voz de alegria, a voz do noivo e a voz da noiva.10“Quando você falar todas essas coisas a este povo e eles perguntarem a você: ‘Por que o SENHOR determinou uma desgraça tão terrível contra nós? Que delito ou pecado cometemos contra o SENHOR, contra o nosso Deus?’,11diga-lhes: Foi porque os seus antepassados me abandonaram”, diz o SENHOR, “e seguiram outros deuses, aos quais prestaram culto e adoraram. Eles me abandonaram e não obedeceram à minha lei.12Mas vocês têm feito coisas piores do que os seus antepassados: cada um segue a rebeldia do seu coração mau, em vez de obedecer-me.13Por isso eu os lançarei fora desta terra, para uma terra que vocês e os seus antepassados desconhecem; lá vocês servirão a outros deuses dia e noite, pois não terei misericórdia de vocês.14“Contudo, vêm dias”, declara o SENHOR, “quando já não mais se dirá: ‘Juro pelo nome do SENHOR, que trouxe os israelitas do Egito’.15Antes dirão: ‘Juro pelo nome do SENHOR, que trouxe os israelitas do norte e de todos os países para onde ele os havia expulsado’. Eu os conduzirei de volta para a sua terra, terra que dei aos seus antepassados.16“Mas agora mandarei chamar muitos pescadores”, declara o SENHOR, “e eles os pescarão. Depois disso mandarei chamar muitos caçadores, e eles os caçarão em cada monte e colina e nas fendas das rochas.17Os meus olhos veem todos os seus caminhos; eles não estão escondidos de mim, nem a sua iniquidade está oculta aos meus olhos.18Eu lhes retribuirei em dobro pela sua impiedade e pelo seu pecado, porque contaminaram a minha terra com as carcaças de seus ídolos detestáveis e encheram a minha herança com as suas abominações”.19SENHOR, minha força e minha fortaleza, meu abrigo seguro na hora da adversidade, a ti virão as nações desde os confins da terra e dirão: “Nossos antepassados possuíam deuses falsos, ídolos inúteis, que não lhes fizeram bem algum.20Pode o homem mortal fazer os seus próprios deuses? Sim, mas estes não seriam deuses!”21“Portanto eu lhes ensinarei; desta vez eu lhes ensinarei sobre o meu poder e sobre a minha força. Então saberão que o meu nome é SENHOR.
1The word of the Lord came to me:2“You shall not take a wife, nor shall you have sons or daughters in this place.3For thus says the Lord concerning the sons and daughters who are born in this place, and concerning the mothers who bore them and the fathers who fathered them in this land:4They shall die of deadly diseases. They shall not be lamented, nor shall they be buried. They shall be as dung on the surface of the ground. They shall perish by the sword and by famine, and their dead bodies shall be food for the birds of the air and for the beasts of the earth. (Ez 24:16)6Both great and small shall die in this land. They shall not be buried, and no one shall lament for them or cut himself or make himself bald for them. (Lv 19:28; Dt 14:1; Jó 1:20; Is 3:24; Jr 16:4)7No one shall break bread for the mourner, to comfort him for the dead, nor shall anyone give him the cup of consolation to drink for his father or his mother. (Dt 26:14; Is 58:7; Ez 24:17; Os 9:4)8You shall not go into the house of feasting to sit with them, to eat and drink.9For thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will silence in this place, before your eyes and in your days, the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride. (Jr 7:34)10“And when you tell this people all these words, and they say to you, ‘Why has the Lord pronounced all this great evil against us? What is our iniquity? What is the sin that we have committed against the Lord our God?’ (Jr 5:19)11then you shall say to them: ‘Because your fathers have forsaken me, declares the Lord, and have gone after other gods and have served and worshiped them, and have forsaken me and have not kept my law, (Dt 29:25; 2 Rs 22:17; 2 Cr 34:25; Jr 5:19; Jr 13:10; Jr 22:9)12and because you have done worse than your fathers, for behold, every one of you follows his stubborn, evil will, refusing to listen to me. (Jr 3:17; Jr 7:26)13Therefore I will hurl you out of this land into a land that neither you nor your fathers have known, and there you shall serve other gods day and night, for I will show you no favor.’ (Dt 4:26; Dt 28:36; Dt 28:64; Is 22:17; Jr 10:18; Jr 15:14; Jr 22:26)
The Lord Will Restore Israel
14“Therefore, behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when it shall no longer be said, ‘As the Lord lives who brought up the people of Israel out of the land of Egypt,’ (Jr 4:2; Jr 23:7)15but ‘As the Lord lives who brought up the people of Israel out of the north country and out of all the countries where he had driven them.’ For I will bring them back to their own land that I gave to their fathers. (Is 43:5; Jr 3:18; Jr 16:14; Jr 24:6; Jr 30:3; Jr 32:37)16“Behold, I am sending for many fishers, declares the Lord, and they shall catch them. And afterward I will send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain and every hill, and out of the clefts of the rocks. (Jr 13:4; Ez 12:13; Am 4:2; Hc 1:15)17For my eyes are on all their ways. They are not hidden from me, nor is their iniquity concealed from my eyes. (2 Cr 16:9; Jó 34:21; Sl 51:9; Sl 90:8; Pv 5:21; Jr 32:19)18But first I will doubly repay their iniquity and their sin, because they have polluted my land with the carcasses of their detestable idols, and have filled my inheritance with their abominations.” (Is 40:2; Is 65:4; Jr 17:18; Ez 43:7)19O Lord, my strength and my stronghold, my refuge in the day of trouble, to you shall the nations come from the ends of the earth and say: “Our fathers have inherited nothing but lies, worthless things in which there is no profit. (2 Sm 22:33; Sl 28:7; Sl 31:3; Is 9:2; Is 25:4; Is 49:6; Is 49:22; Jr 17:17; Jr 18:15)20Can man make for himself gods? Such are not gods!” (Jr 2:11; 1 Co 8:4)21“Therefore, behold, I will make them know, this once I will make them know my power and my might, and they shall know that my name is the Lord.” (Jr 33:2)
