A Origem dos Povos Os Jafetitas
2Estes foram os filhos[1] de Jafé: Gômer, Magogue, Madai, Javã, Tubal, Meseque e Tirás.3Estes foram os filhos de Gômer: Asquenaz, Rifate e Togarma.4Estes foram os filhos de Javã: Elisá, Társis, Quitim e Rodanim[2].5Deles procedem os povos marítimos, os quais se separaram em seu território, conforme a sua língua, cada um segundo os clãs de suas nações.
Os Camitas
6Estes foram os filhos de Cam: Cuxe, Mizraim[3], Fute e Canaã.7Estes foram os filhos de Cuxe: Sebá, Havilá, Sabtá, Raamá e Sabtecá. Estes foram os filhos de Raamá: Sabá e Dedã.8Cuxe gerou[4] também Ninrode, o primeiro homem poderoso na terra.9Ele foi o mais valente dos caçadores[5], e por isso se diz: “Valente como Ninrode”.10No início o seu reino abrangia Babel, Ereque, Acade e Calné[6], na terra de Sinear[7].11Dessa terra ele partiu para a Assíria, onde fundou Nínive, Reobote-Ir[8], Calá12e Resém, que fica entre Nínive e Calá, a grande cidade.13Mizraim gerou os luditas, os anamitas, os leabitas, os naftuítas,14os patrusitas, os casluítas, dos quais se originaram os filisteus, e os caftoritas.15Canaã gerou Sidom, seu filho mais velho, e Hete[9],16como também os jebuseus, os amorreus, os girgaseus,17os heveus, os arqueus, os sineus,18os arvadeus, os zemareus e os hamateus. (Posteriormente, os clãs cananeus se espalharam.19As fronteiras de Canaã estendiam-se desde Sidom, iam até Gerar, e chegavam a Gaza e, de lá, prosseguiam até Sodoma, Gomorra, Admá e Zeboim, chegando até Lasa.)20São esses os descendentes de Cam, conforme seus clãs e línguas, em seus territórios e nações.
Os Semitas
21Sem, irmão mais velho de Jafé[10], também gerou filhos. Sem foi o antepassado de todos os filhos de Héber.22Estes foram os filhos de Sem: Elão, Assur, Arfaxade, Lude e Arã.23Estes foram os filhos de Arã: Uz, Hul, Géter e Meseque[11].24Arfaxade gerou Salá[12], e este gerou Héber.25A Héber nasceram dois filhos: um deles se chamou Pelegue, porque em sua época a terra foi dividida; seu irmão chamou-se Joctã.26Joctã gerou Almodá, Salefe, Hazarmavé, Jerá,27Adorão, Uzal, Dicla,28Obal, Abimael, Sabá,29Ofir, Havilá e Jobabe. Todos esses foram filhos de Joctã.30A região onde viviam estendia-se de Messa até Sefar, nas colinas ao leste.31São esses os descendentes de Sem, conforme seus clãs e línguas, em seus territórios e nações.32São esses os clãs dos filhos de Noé, distribuídos em suas nações, conforme a história da sua descendência. A partir deles, os povos se dispersaram pela terra, depois do Dilúvio.

(Dt 2:23; Jr 47:4; Am 9:7)15Canaan fathered Sidon his firstborn and Heth, (Gn 15:18)16and the Jebusites, the Amorites, the Girgashites,17the Hivites, the Arkites, the Sinites,18the Arvadites, the Zemarites, and the Hamathites. Afterward the clans of the Canaanites dispersed.19And the territory of the Canaanites extended from Sidon in the direction of Gerar as far as Gaza, and in the direction of Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, as far as Lasha.20These are the sons of Ham, by their clans, their languages, their lands, and their nations.21To Shem also, the father of all the children of Eber, the elder brother of Japheth, children were born.22The sons of Shem: Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud, and Aram. (1 Cr 1:19)26Joktan fathered Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah,27Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah,28Obal, Abimael, Sheba,29Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab; all these were the sons of Joktan. (1 Rs 9:28; 1 Rs 10:11)30The territory in which they lived extended from Mesha in the direction of Sephar to the hill country of the east.31These are the sons of Shem, by their clans, their languages, their lands, and their nations.32These are the clans of the sons of Noah, according to their genealogies, in their nations, and from these the nations spread abroad on the earth after the flood.
