1Foi para a liberdade que Cristo nos libertou. Portanto, permaneçam firmes e não se deixem submeter novamente a um jugo de escravidão.2Ouçam bem o que eu, Paulo, tenho a dizer: Caso se deixem circuncidar, Cristo de nada lhes servirá.3De novo declaro a todo homem que se deixa circuncidar que ele está obrigado a cumprir toda a Lei.4Vocês, que procuram ser justificados pela Lei, separaram-se de Cristo; caíram da graça.5Pois é mediante o Espírito que nós aguardamos pela fé a justiça, que é a nossa esperança.6Porque em Cristo Jesus nem circuncisão nem incircuncisão têm efeito algum, mas sim a fé que atua pelo amor.7Vocês corriam bem. Quem os impediu de continuar obedecendo à verdade?8Tal persuasão não provém daquele que os chama.9“Um pouco de fermento leveda toda a massa.”10Estou convencido no Senhor de que vocês não pensarão de nenhum outro modo. Aquele que os perturba, seja quem for, sofrerá a condenação.11Irmãos, se ainda estou pregando a circuncisão, por que continuo sendo perseguido? Nesse caso, o escândalo da cruz foi removido.12Quanto a esses que os perturbam, quem dera que se castrassem!13Irmãos, vocês foram chamados para a liberdade. Mas não usem a liberdade para dar ocasião à vontade da carne[1]; ao contrário, sirvam uns aos outros mediante o amor.14Toda a Lei se resume num só mandamento: “Ame o seu próximo como a si mesmo”.15Mas, se vocês se mordem e se devoram uns aos outros, cuidado para não se destruírem mutuamente.
Vida pelo Espírito
16Por isso digo: Vivam pelo Espírito, e de modo nenhum satisfarão os desejos da carne.17Pois a carne deseja o que é contrário ao Espírito; o Espírito, o que é contrário à carne. Eles estão em conflito um com o outro, de modo que vocês não fazem o que desejam[2].18Mas, se vocês são guiados pelo Espírito, não estão debaixo da Lei.19Ora, as obras da carne são manifestas: imoralidade sexual, impureza e libertinagem;20idolatria e feitiçaria; ódio, discórdia, ciúmes, ira, egoísmo, dissensões, facções21e inveja; embriaguez, orgias e coisas semelhantes. Eu os advirto, como antes já os adverti: Aqueles que praticam essas coisas não herdarão o Reino de Deus.22Mas o fruto do Espírito é amor, alegria, paz, paciência, amabilidade, bondade, fidelidade,23mansidão e domínio próprio. Contra essas coisas não há lei.24Os que pertencem a Cristo Jesus crucificaram a carne, com as suas paixões e os seus desejos.25Se vivemos pelo Espírito, andemos também pelo Espírito.26Não sejamos presunçosos, provocando uns aos outros e tendo inveja uns dos outros.

Keep in Step with the Spirit
16But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. (Rm 8:4; Rm 13:14; Gl 5:24; Ef 2:3)17For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. (Rm 7:15; Rm 7:18; Rm 7:23; Rm 8:5)18But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. (Rm 7:4; Rm 8:14)19Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, (Mt 15:18; 1 Co 3:3; Ef 5:3; Cl 3:5; Tg 3:14)20idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, (1 Co 11:19)21envy,[4] drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do[5] such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. (1 Co 6:9; Cl 3:6)22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, (Rm 5:1; Rm 7:4; Rm 8:5; 2 Co 6:6; Ef 5:9; Cl 3:12)23gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. (At 24:25; Ef 4:2; 1 Tm 1:9)24And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. (Rm 6:6; Rm 7:5; Gl 5:16)25If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. (Gl 5:16)26Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another. (Fp 2:3)
