1 Revelação de Jesus Cristo, que Deus lhe deu para mostrar aos seus servos[1] o que em breve há de acontecer. Ele enviou o seu anjo para torná-la conhecida ao seu servo João, 2 que dá testemunho de tudo o que viu, isto é, a palavra de Deus e o testemunho de Jesus Cristo. 3 Feliz aquele que lê as palavras desta profecia e felizes aqueles que ouvem e guardam o que nela está escrito, porque o tempo está próximo. 4 João, às sete igrejas da província da Ásia: A vocês, graça e paz da parte daquele que é, que era e que há de vir, dos sete espíritos[2] que estão diante do seu trono 5 e de Jesus Cristo, que é a testemunha fiel, o primogênito dentre os mortos e o soberano dos reis da terra[3]. Ele nos ama e nos libertou dos nossos pecados por meio do seu sangue, 6 e nos constituiu reino e sacerdotes para servir a seu Deus e Pai. A ele sejam glória e poder para todo o sempre! Amém. 7 Eis que ele vem com as nuvens, e todo olho o verá, até mesmo aqueles que o traspassaram; e todos os povos da terra se lamentarão por causa dele. Assim será! Amém. 8 “Eu sou o Alfa e o Ômega”, diz o Senhor Deus, “o que é, o que era e o que há de vir, o Todo-poderoso.” 9 Eu, João, irmão e companheiro de vocês no sofrimento, no Reino e na perseverança em Jesus, estava na ilha de Patmos por causa da palavra de Deus e do testemunho de Jesus. 10 No dia do Senhor achei-me no Espírito e ouvi por trás de mim uma voz forte, como de trombeta, 11 que dizia: “Escreva num livro[4] o que você vê e envie a estas sete igrejas: Éfeso, Esmirna, Pérgamo, Tiatira, Sardes, Filadélfia e Laodiceia”. 12 Voltei-me para ver quem falava comigo. Voltando-me, vi sete candelabros de ouro 13 e entre os candelabros alguém “semelhante a um filho de homem”, com uma veste que chegava aos seus pés e um cinturão de ouro ao redor do peito. 14 Sua cabeça e seus cabelos eram brancos como a lã, tão brancos quanto a neve, e seus olhos eram como chama de fogo. 15 Seus pés eram como o bronze numa fornalha ardente e sua voz como o som de muitas águas. 16 Tinha em sua mão direita sete estrelas, e da sua boca saía uma espada afiada de dois gumes. Sua face era como o sol quando brilha em todo o seu fulgor. 17 Quando o vi, caí aos seus pés como morto. Então ele colocou sua mão direita sobre mim e disse: “Não tenha medo. Eu sou o Primeiro e o Último. 18 Sou Aquele que Vive. Estive morto, mas agora estou vivo para todo o sempre! E tenho as chaves da morte e do Hades[5]. 19 “Escreva, pois, as coisas que você viu, tanto as presentes como as que acontecerão.[6] 20 Este é o mistério das sete estrelas que você viu em minha mão direita e dos sete candelabros: as sete estrelas são os anjos das sete igrejas, e os sete candelabros são as sete igrejas.

1 The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show to his servants[1] the things that must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, (Jo 8:26; Jo 14:10; Jo 17:7; Ap 22:6; Ap 22:16) 2 who bore witness to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw. (Jo 19:35; 1 Co 1:6; Ap 1:11; Ap 1:19; Ap 6:9; Ap 12:17; Ap 19:10) 3 Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near. (Lc 11:28; Jo 8:51; Rm 13:11; 1 Jo 2:3; 1 Jo 2:18; Ap 22:7; Ap 22:10) 4 John to the seven churches that are in Asia: Grace to you and peace from him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits who are before his throne, (Ex 3:14; Jo 1:1; Hb 13:8; Ap 1:8; Ap 3:1; Ap 4:5; Ap 4:8; Ap 5:6) 5 and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood (Sl 89:27; Sl 89:37; Is 55:4; Jo 13:34; Jo 15:9; Jo 18:37; At 26:23; 1 Co 15:20; Cl 1:18; 1 Tm 6:13; 1 Pe 1:18; Ap 2:13; Ap 3:14; Ap 17:14; Ap 19:16) 6 and made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. (Rm 11:36; Rm 15:6; 1 Pe 2:9; 1 Pe 4:11; Ap 5:10; Ap 20:6) 7 Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail[2] on account of him. (Jo 16:33; Fp 4:14; 2 Tm 2:12; Ap 1:2; Ap 3:10) 10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet (1 Rs 18:12; Ez 3:12; Mt 22:43; At 20:7; 1 Co 16:2; 2 Co 12:2; Ap 4:1; Ap 4:2; Ap 17:3; Ap 21:10) 11 saying, “Write what you see in a book and send it to the seven churches, to Ephesus and to Smyrna and to Pergamum and to Thyatira and to Sardis and to Philadelphia and to Laodicea.” (Ap 1:2; Ap 1:19) 12 Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking to me, and on turning I saw seven golden lampstands, (Ex 25:37; 2 Cr 4:20; Zc 4:2; Ap 1:20; Ap 2:1; Ap 11:4) 13 and in the midst of the lampstands one like a son of man, clothed with a long robe and with a golden sash around his chest. (Dn 7:13; Dn 10:5; Dn 10:16; Ap 14:14; Ap 15:6) 14 The hairs of his head were white, like white wool, like snow. His eyes were like a flame of fire, (Dn 7:9; Dn 10:6; Ap 2:18; Ap 19:12) 15 his feet were like burnished bronze, refined in a furnace, and his voice was like the roar of many waters. (Ez 1:7; Ez 43:2; Dn 10:6; Ap 14:2; Ap 19:6) 16 In his right hand he held seven stars, from his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword, and his face was like the sun shining in full strength. (Jz 5:31; Is 49:2; Mt 17:2; Ef 6:17; Hb 4:12; Ap 1:20; Ap 2:1; Ap 2:12; Ap 2:16; Ap 3:1; Ap 19:15) 17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last, (Is 41:4; Is 44:6; Is 48:12; Dn 8:17; Dn 10:9; Dn 10:15; Mt 17:7; Lc 24:37; Jo 21:12; Ap 2:8; Ap 22:13) 18 and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades. (Rm 6:9; Rm 14:9; Ap 9:1; Ap 20:1) 19 Write therefore the things that you have seen, those that are and those that are to take place after this. (Ap 1:2; Ap 1:11; Ap 1:12) 20 As for the mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand, and the seven golden lampstands, the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches. (Mt 5:14; Ap 1:12)
