1»Haz que comparezcan ante ti tu hermano Aarón y sus hijos Nadab, Abiú, Eleazar e Itamar. De entre todos los israelitas, ellos me servirán como sacerdotes.2Hazle a tu hermano Aarón vestiduras sagradas que le confieran honra y dignidad.3Habla con todos los expertos a quienes he dado habilidades especiales, para que hagan las vestiduras de Aarón, y así lo consagre yo como mi sacerdote.4»Las vestiduras que le harás son las siguientes: un pectoral, un efod, un manto, una túnica bordada, un turbante y una faja. Estas vestiduras sagradas se harán para tu hermano Aarón y para sus hijos, a fin de que me sirvan como sacerdotes.5Al efecto se usará oro, púrpura, carmesí, escarlata y lino.
El efod
6»El efod se bordará artísticamente con oro, púrpura, carmesí, escarlata y lino fino.7En sus dos extremos tendrá hombreras con cintas, para que pueda sujetarse.8El cinturón bordado con el que se sujeta el efod deberá ser del mismo material, es decir, de oro, púrpura, carmesí, escarlata y lino fino, y formará con el efod una sola pieza.9»Toma dos piedras de ónice, y graba en ellas los nombres de los doce hijos de Israel10por orden de nacimiento, seis nombres en una piedra, y seis en la otra.11Un joyero grabará los nombres en las dos piedras, como los orfebres graban sellos: engarzará las piedras en filigrana de oro12y las sujetará a las hombreras del efod. Así Aarón llevará en sus hombros los nombres de los hijos de Israel, para recordarlos ante el Señor.13Haz también engastes en filigrana de oro,14y dos cadenillas de oro puro, a manera de cordón, para fijar las cadenillas en los engastes.
El pectoral
15»El pectoral para impartir justicia lo bordarás artísticamente con oro, púrpura, carmesí, escarlata y lino fino, como hiciste con el efod.16Será doble y cuadrado, de veinte centímetros[1] de largo por veinte de ancho.17Engarzarás en él cuatro hileras de piedras preciosas. En la primera pondrás un rubí, un crisólito y una esmeralda;18en la segunda, una turquesa, un zafiro y un jade;19en la tercera, un jacinto, un ágata y una amatista,20y en la cuarta, un topacio, un ónice y un jaspe.[2]Engárzalas en filigrana de oro.21Deben ser doce piedras, una por cada uno de los doce hijos de Israel. Cada una de las piedras llevará grabada como un sello el nombre de una de las doce tribus.22»Haz unas cadenillas de oro puro, en forma de cordón, para el pectoral.23Ponle al pectoral dos anillos de oro, y sujétalos a sus dos extremos.24Sujeta las dos cadenillas de oro a los anillos del pectoral,25y une los extremos de las cadenillas a los dos engastes, para fijarlos por la parte delantera a las hombreras del efod.26»Haz otros dos anillos de oro, y fíjalos en los extremos del pectoral, en su borde interno cercano al efod.27Haz dos anillos más, también de oro, para fijarlos por el frente del efod, pero por debajo de las hombreras, cerca de la costura que va justamente arriba del cinturón.28Los anillos del pectoral deberán sujetarse a los anillos del efod con un cordón azul, trabándolo con el cinturón para que el pectoral y el efod queden unidos.29De este modo, siempre que Aarón entre en el Lugar Santo llevará sobre su corazón, en el pectoral para impartir justicia, los nombres de los hijos de Israel para recordarlos siempre ante el Señor.30Sobre el pectoral para impartir justicia pondrás el urim y el tumim. De esta manera, siempre que Aarón se presente ante el Señor, llevará en el pecho la causa de los israelitas.
Otras vestiduras sacerdotales
31»Haz de púrpura todo el manto del efod,32con una abertura en el centro para meter la cabeza. Alrededor de la abertura le pondrás un refuerzo, como el que se pone a los chalecos,[3] para que no se desgarre.33En torno al borde inferior del manto pondrás granadas de púrpura, carmesí y escarlata, alternándolas con campanillas de oro.34Por todo el borde del manto pondrás primero una campanilla y luego una granada.35Aarón debe llevar puesto el manto mientras esté ejerciendo su ministerio, para que el tintineo de las campanillas se oiga todo el tiempo que él esté ante el Señor en el Lugar Santo, y así él no muera.36»Haz una placa de oro puro, y graba en ella, a manera de sello: Consagarado al Señor.37Sujétala al turbante con un cordón púrpura, de modo que quede fija a éste por la parte delantera.38Esta placa estará siempre sobre la frente de Aarón, para que el Señor acepte todas las ofrendas de los israelitas, ya que Aarón llevará sobre sí el pecado en que ellos incurran al dedicar sus ofrendas sagradas.39»La túnica y el turbante los harás de lino. El cinturón deberá estar recamado artísticamente.40A los hijos de Aarón les harás túnicas, cinturones y mitras, para conferirles honra y dignidad.41Una vez que hayas vestido a tu hermano Aarón y a sus hijos, los ungirás para conferirles autoridad[4] y consagrarlos como mis sacerdotes.42»Hazles también calzoncillos de lino que les cubran el cuerpo desde la cintura hasta el muslo.43Aarón y sus hijos deberán ponérselos siempre que entren en la Tienda de reunión, o cuando se acerquen al altar para ejercer su ministerio en el Lugar Santo, a fin de que no incurran en pecado y mueran. Ésta es una ley perpetua para Aarón y sus descendientes.

They are to make these sacred garments for your brother Aaron and his sons, so that they may serve me as priests.5Make them use gold, and blue, purple and scarlet yarn, and fine linen.
The ephod
6‘Make the ephod of gold, and of blue, purple and scarlet yarn, and of finely twisted linen – the work of skilled hands.7It is to have two shoulder pieces attached to two of its corners, so that it can be fastened.8Its skilfully woven waistband is to be like it – of one piece with the ephod and made with gold, and with blue, purple and scarlet yarn, and with finely twisted linen.9‘Take two onyx stones and engrave on them the names of the sons of Israel10in the order of their birth – six names on one stone and the remaining six on the other.11Engrave the names of the sons of Israel on the two stones the way a gem cutter engraves a seal. Then mount the stones in gold filigree settings12and fasten them on the shoulder pieces of the ephod as memorial stones for the sons of Israel. Aaron is to bear the names on his shoulders as a memorial before the Lord.13Make gold filigree settings14and two braided chains of pure gold, like a rope, and attach the chains to the settings.
The breastpiece
15‘Fashion a breastpiece for making decisions – the work of skilled hands. Make it like the ephod: of gold, and of blue, purple and scarlet yarn, and of finely twisted linen.16It is to be square – a span[1] long and a span wide – and folded double.17Then mount four rows of precious stones on it. The first row shall be carnelian, chrysolite and beryl;18the second row shall be turquoise, lapis lazuli and emerald;19the third row shall be jacinth, agate and amethyst;20the fourth row shall be topaz, onyx and jasper.[2] Mount them in gold filigree settings.21There are to be twelve stones, one for each of the names of the sons of Israel, each engraved like a seal with the name of one of the twelve tribes.22‘For the breastpiece make braided chains of pure gold, like a rope.23Make two gold rings for it and fasten them to two corners of the breastpiece.24Fasten the two gold chains to the rings at the corners of the breastpiece,25and the other ends of the chains to the two settings, attaching them to the shoulder pieces of the ephod at the front.26Make two gold rings and attach them to the other two corners of the breastpiece on the inside edge next to the ephod.27Make two more gold rings and attach them to the bottom of the shoulder pieces on the front of the ephod, close to the seam just above the waistband of the ephod.28The rings of the breastpiece are to be tied to the rings of the ephod with blue cord, connecting it to the waistband, so that the breastpiece will not swing out from the ephod.29‘Whenever Aaron enters the Holy Place, he will bear the names of the sons of Israel over his heart on the breastpiece of decision as a continuing memorial before the Lord.30Also put the Urim and the Thummim in the breastpiece, so they may be over Aaron’s heart whenever he enters the presence of the Lord. Thus Aaron will always bear the means of making decisions for the Israelites over his heart before the Lord.
Other priestly garments
31‘Make the robe of the ephod entirely of blue cloth,32with an opening for the head in its centre. There shall be a woven edge like a collar[3] around this opening, so that it will not tear.33Make pomegranates of blue, purple and scarlet yarn around the hem of the robe, with gold bells between them.34The gold bells and the pomegranates are to alternate round the hem of the robe.35Aaron must wear it when he ministers. The sound of the bells will be heard when he enters the Holy Place before the Lord and when he comes out, so that he will not die.36‘Make a plate of pure gold and engrave on it as on a seal: Holy to the Lord.37Fasten a blue cord to it to attach it to the turban; it is to be on the front of the turban.38It will be on Aaron’s forehead, and he will bear the guilt involved in the sacred gifts the Israelites consecrate, whatever their gifts may be. It will be on Aaron’s forehead continually so that they will be acceptable to the Lord.39‘Weave the tunic of fine linen and make the turban of fine linen. The sash is to be the work of an embroiderer.40Make tunics, sashes and caps for Aaron’s sons to give them dignity and honour.41After you put these clothes on your brother Aaron and his sons, anoint and ordain them. Consecrate them so they may serve me as priests.42‘Make linen undergarments as a covering for the body, reaching from the waist to the thigh.43Aaron and his sons must wear them whenever they enter the tent of meeting or approach the altar to minister in the Holy Place, so that they will not incur guilt and die. ‘This is to be a lasting ordinance for Aaron and his descendants.
