De ninguna manera podrán escapar.4Ustedes, en cambio, hermanos, no están en la oscuridad para que ese día los sorprenda como un ladrón.5Todos ustedes son hijos de la luz y del día. No somos de la noche ni de la oscuridad.6No debemos, pues, dormirnos como los demás, sino mantenernos alerta y en nuestro sano juicio.7Los que duermen, de noche duermen, y los que se emborrachan, de noche se emborrachan.8Nosotros que somos del día, por el contrario, estemos siempre en nuestro sano juicio, protegidos por la coraza de la fe y del amor, y por el casco de la esperanza de salvación;9pues Dios no nos destinó a sufrir el castigo sino a recibir la salvación por medio de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.10Él murió por nosotros para que, en la vida o en la muerte,[1] vivamos junto con él.11Por eso, anímense y edifíquense unos a otros, tal como lo vienen haciendo.
Instrucciones finales
12Hermanos, les pedimos que sean considerados con los que trabajan arduamente entre ustedes, y los guían y amonestan en el Señor.13Ténganlos en alta estima, y ámenlos por el trabajo que hacen. Vivan en paz unos con otros.14Hermanos, también les rogamos que amonesten a los holgazanes, estimulen a los desanimados, ayuden a los débiles y sean pacientes con todos.15Asegúrense de que nadie pague mal por mal; más bien, esfuércense siempre por hacer el bien, no sólo entre ustedes sino a todos.16Estén siempre alegres,17oren sin cesar,18den gracias a Dios en toda situación, porque esta es su voluntad para ustedes en Cristo Jesús.19No apaguen el Espíritu,20no desprecien las profecías,21sométanlo todo a prueba, aférrense a lo bueno,22eviten toda clase de mal.23Que Dios mismo, el Dios de paz, los santifique por completo, y conserve todo su ser —espíritu, alma y cuerpo— irreprochable para la venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.24El que los llama es fiel, y así lo hará.25Hermanos, oren también por nosotros.26Saluden a todos los hermanos con un beso santo.27Les encargo delante del Señor que lean esta carta a todos los hermanos.28Que la gracia de nuestro Señor Jesucristo sea con ustedes.
1Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers,[1] you have no need to have anything written to you. Final Instructions and Benediction
12We ask you, brothers, to respect those who labor among you and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, (1 Co 16:16; 1 Co 16:18; Flp 2:29; Heb 13:17)13and to esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves. (Mr 9:50)14And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle,[3] encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all. (Is 35:4; Hch 20:35; Ro 15:1; 1 Co 13:4; 2 Ts 3:6; 2 Ts 3:11; Heb 12:12)15See that no one repays anyone evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to everyone. (Ro 12:9; Ro 12:17; Gl 6:10; 1 P 3:9)16Rejoice always, (Flp 4:4)17pray without ceasing, (Lc 18:1)18give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. (Ef 5:20)19Do not quench the Spirit. (1 Co 14:30; Ef 4:30; 1 Ti 4:14; 2 Ti 1:6)20Do not despise prophecies, (1 Co 11:4)21but test everything; hold fast what is good. (Job 34:4; Ef 5:10; 1 Jn 4:1)22Abstain from every form of evil.23Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
