Dacă nu păzește DOMNUL o cetate, degeaba veghează cel ce o păzește.2Degeaba vă sculați dis‑de‑dimineață și vă culcați târziu, mâncând o pâine câștigată cu durere[1]. Preaiubitului Său însă El îi dă cu adevărat odihnă.[2]3Iată, fiii sunt o moștenire de la DOMNUL, rodul pântecului este o răsplată.4Ca săgețile în mâna unui viteaz, așa sunt fiii din anii tinereții.5Ferice de bărbatul care își umple tolba cu ei; ei nu se vor rușina când vor vorbi cu dușmanii la poartă.
