Ierusalimul, nefolositor asemenea lemnului de viță
1Cuvântul DOMNULUI mi‑a vorbit, zicând:2„Fiul omului, prin ce se deosebește lemnul de viță de orice altă ramură a vreunui copac din pădure?3Se ia lemn de viță pentru a se face vreo lucrare anume? Se ia cumva lemn de viță pentru a se face din el măcar un țăruș, de care să se atârne tot felul de vase?4Iată că este aruncat în foc să ardă. Iar după ce focul îi arde cele două capete și îi mistuie mijlocul, mai poate fi el bun pentru vreo lucrare?5Deci, dacă atunci când era întreg nu s‑a putut face nimic din el, cu cât mai puțin acum după ce l‑a ars focul și l‑a mistuit!?“6De aceea, așa vorbește Stăpânul DOMN: „Așa cum deosebesc lemnul de viță de lemnul oricărui copac din pădure, ca să‑l pun pe foc să fie ars, tot așa voi face și cu locuitorii Ierusalimului.7Îmi voi îndrepta fața împotriva lor. Din foc au scăpat, dar tot focul îi va mistui! Când Îmi voi îndrepta privirea împotriva lor, veți ști că Eu sunt DOMNUL.8Voi preface țara într‑un pustiu, pentru că au fost necredincioși, zice Stăpânul DOMN.“
1A message from the LORD came to me. Here is what the LORD said.2‘Son of man, how is the wood of a vine different from the wood of any tree in the forest?3Can its wood ever be made into anything useful? Can pegs be made from it to hang things on?4Suppose it is thrown in the fire to be burned. And the fire burns both ends and blackens the middle. Then is the wood useful for anything?5It was not useful when it was whole. So how can it be made into something useful now? The fire has burned it and blackened it.’6Here is what the LORD and King says. ‘Instead of the wood of any tree in the forest, I have given the vine to burn in the fire. I will treat the people who live in Jerusalem the same way.7I will turn against them. They might have come out of the fire. But the fire will destroy them anyway. I will turn against them. Then you will know that I am the LORD.8I will make the land a dry and empty desert. My people have not been faithful to me,’ announces the LORD and King.
