1Înțelepciunea și‑a zidit casa, și‑a tăiat cei șapte stâlpi,2și‑a înjunghiat vitele, și‑a amestecat vinul; și‑a aranjat și masa.3Apoi și‑a trimis servitoarele și strigă de pe vârful înălțimilor cetății:4„Cine este naiv să vină aici!“ Iar celor fără minte le spune:5„Veniți să mâncați din pâinea mea și să beți din vinul pe care l‑am amestecat!6Părăsiți căile nesăbuite și veți trăi! Umblați pe calea priceperii!“7Cel ce disciplinează un batjocoritor își atrage dispreț, iar cel ce mustră pe cel rău se rănește singur.8Nu mustra pe cel batjocoritor ca să nu te urască! Mustră pe cel înțelept, și el te va iubi!9Dă‑i celui înțelept iar el va fi și mai înțelept! Învață‑l pe cel drept, și el va spori în învățătură.10„Începutul înțelepciunii este teama de DOMNUL, și cunoștința celor sfinți[1] este pricepere.11Căci prin mine ți se vor înmulți zilele și se vor adăuga ani la viața ta.12Dacă ești înțelept, pentru tine ești înțelept; dacă ești batjocoritor, tu singur vei suferi.“
Invitația prostiei
13Femeia „Prostie“[2] este gălăgioasă, nesăbuită și nu știe nimic.[3]14Ea se așază la ușa casei sale, pe un scaun, chiar pe vârful înălțimilor cetății,15ca să‑i cheme pe trecătorii care merg drept pe calea lor:16„Cine este naiv să vină aici!“ Iar celui fără minte îi spune:17„Apele furate sunt dulci, iar pâinea mâncată în locuri ascunse este plăcută!“18Dar el nu știe că acolo sunt umbrele, că oaspeții ei sunt în adâncimile Locuinței Morților.

The Way of Folly
13The woman Folly is loud; she is seductive[3] and knows nothing. (Prov 5:6; Prov 7:7; Prov 7:11)14She sits at the door of her house; she takes a seat on the highest places of the town, (Prov 9:3)15calling to those who pass by, who are going straight on their way, (Prov 9:6)16“Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!” And to him who lacks sense she says, (Prov 9:4)17“Stolen water is sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.” (Prov 5:15; Prov 20:17; Prov 30:20)18But he does not know that the dead[4] are there, that her guests are in the depths of Sheol.
