1După aceea, Isus a călătorit prin fiecare cetate și sat, predicând și vestind Evanghelia Împărăției lui Dumnezeu. Împreună cu El erau cei doisprezece,2precum și niște femei care fuseseră vindecate de duhuri rele și de neputințe: Maria, numită Magdalena, din care ieșiseră șapte demoni,3Ioana – soția lui Cuza, administratorul lui Irod[1] –, Suzana și încă multe altele care Îi[2] slujeau cu ceea ce aveau.
Pilda semănătorului
4Când s‑a adunat o mare mulțime de oameni și au venit la El de prin fiecare cetate, Isus le‑a vorbit printr‑o pildă: (Mat 13:1; Mar 4:1)5„Semănătorul a ieșit să‑și semene sămânța. În timp ce semăna el, o parte din sămânță a căzut lângă drum, unde a fost călcată în picioare și au mâncat‑o păsările cerului.6Alta a căzut pe stâncă și cum a încolțit, s‑a uscat, pentru că nu avea umezeală.7Alta a căzut în mijlocul spinilor, iar spinii au crescut împreună cu ea și au sufocat‑o.[3]8Alta însă a căzut într‑un pământ bun, a încolțit și a făcut rod însutit.“ Și zicând acestea, El striga: „Cine are urechi de auzit, să audă!“
Isus explică pilda semănătorului
9Ucenicii Lui L‑au întrebat ce înseamnă această pildă. (Mat 13:10; Mar 4:10)10Isus a zis: „Vouă v‑a fost dat să cunoașteți tainele[4] Împărăției lui Dumnezeu, dar celorlalți toate sunt în pilde, pentru ca, «Privind, să nu vadă și auzind, să nu înțeleagă!»[5] (Is 6:9)11Acesta este înțelesul pildei: sămânța este Cuvântul lui Dumnezeu.12Cei de lângă drum sunt cei care aud. Atunci vine diavolul și ia Cuvântul din inima lor, ca să nu creadă pentru a fi mântuiți.13Cei de pe stâncă sunt cei care, atunci când aud Cuvântul, îl primesc cu bucurie, dar aceștia nu au rădăcină. Ei cred doar pentru o vreme, iar în vreme de încercare[6], se depărtează.14Cât despre sămânța căzută între spini, aceștia sunt cei care aud, dar, în timp ce merg[7], sunt sufocați de îngrijorările, bogățiile și plăcerile vieții și nu aduc rod copt.15Iar cât despre sămânța din pământul bun, aceștia sunt cei care, atunci când aud Cuvântul, îl țin strâns într‑o inimă frumoasă și bună și aduc rod cu răbdare[8].
Candela așezată pe un sfeșnicar
16Nimeni nu aprinde o candelă ca s‑o acopere cu un vas sau s‑o pună sub pat, ci o pune pe un sfeșnicar, astfel încât cei ce intră, să vadă lumina. (Mar 4:21)17Căci nu este nimic ascuns care nu va fi dezvăluit și nimic tăinuit care să nu fie făcut cunoscut și care să nu iasă la iveală.18Luați seama deci la felul cum ascultați. Căci celui ce are, i se va da, însă de la cel ce n‑are, se va lua chiar și ceea ce i se pare că are.“
Mama și frații lui Isus
19Atunci mama și frații Lui au venit la El,[9] dar nu puteau ajunge la El din cauza mulțimii. (Mat 12:46; Mar 3:21; Mar 3:31)20Isus a fost anunțat: – Mama Ta și frații Tăi stau afară, dorind să Te vadă.21Dar Isus, răspunzând, le‑a zis: – Mama Mea și frații Mei sunt cei ce ascultă Cuvântul lui Dumnezeu și‑l împlinesc.
Isus liniștește furtuna
22Într‑una din zile, Isus S‑a urcat în barcă împreună cu ucenicii Lui și le‑a zis: – Să traversăm în partea cealaltă a lacului! Și au plecat. (Mat 8:23; Mar 4:36)23În timp ce vâsleau ei, Isus a adormit. Atunci a coborât pe lac un vârtej de vânt[10], iar ei au fost acoperiți de ape și erau în pericol.24Ei s‑au apropiat și L‑au trezit, zicând: – Stăpâne, Stăpâne, pierim! Atunci El, ridicându‑Se, a mustrat vântul și apa învolburată, iar ele au încetat și s‑a făcut liniște.25Apoi i‑a întrebat: – Unde vă este credința?! Ei s‑au temut, au rămas uimiți și și‑au zis unii altora: – Cine deci este Acesta, de poruncește până și vânturilor, și apei, iar ele Îl ascultă?![11] (Iov 38:8; Ps 65:5; Ps 89:9; Ps 107:23)
Vindecarea unui om demonizat
26Au vâslit mai departe, înspre ținutul gherasenilor[12], care se află în dreptul Galileei. (Is 65:1; Mat 8:28; Mar 5:1)27Când a coborât pe țărm, L‑a întâmpinat un anumit om din cetate, care avea în el demoni. De multă vreme acesta nu[13] purta haine și nu locuia într‑o casă, ci în morminte.28Când L‑a văzut pe Isus, a strigat, I s‑a închinat și a zis cu glas tare: – Ce am eu de‑a face cu Tine, Isuse, Fiu al Dumnezeului cel Preaînalt? Te rog fierbinte să nu mă chinui!29Căci Isus îi poruncise duhului necurat să iasă din om. Căci de multe ori duhul îl înșfăca și, deși omul era legat cu lanțuri și cătușe și ținut sub pază, el totuși rupea legăturile și era dus de către demon în locuri pustii.30Isus l‑a întrebat: – Care‑ți este numele? El a zis: – „Legiune“.[14] Căci în el intraseră mulți demoni.31Aceștia îl rugau să nu le poruncească să se ducă în Adânc[15]. (Gen 1:2; Gen 7:11)32Acolo, pe munte, era o turmă mare de porci care pășteau. Demonii L‑au rugat să le dea voie să intre în porcii aceia, iar El le‑a dat voie.33Demonii au ieșit din om și au intrat în porci. Atunci turma s‑a repezit de pe râpă în jos, în lac, și s‑a înecat.34Păzitorii turmei, văzând ce s‑a întâmplat, au fugit și i‑au anunțat pe oameni în cetate și în cătune.35Aceștia au ieșit să vadă ce s‑a întâmplat și au venit la Isus. Când l‑au găsit pe omul din care ieșiseră demonii, stând jos la picioarele lui Isus, îmbrăcat și întreg la minte, s‑au înspăimântat.36Cei ce văzuseră cum a fost salvat cel ce fusese demonizat, le‑au istorisit totul.37Atunci toată mulțimea din vecinătatea gherasenilor L‑a rugat pe Isus să plece de la ei, pentru că îi cuprinsese o mare frică. El S‑a urcat în barcă și S‑a întors în cetatea Sa.38Omul din care ieșiseră demonii Îl rugase fierbinte să‑l lase să vină cu El, dar Isus l‑a trimis înapoi, zicând:39„Întoarce‑te acasă și istorisește cât de mult a făcut Dumnezeu pentru tine!“[16] El a plecat și a proclamat prin toată cetatea cât de mult a făcut Isus pentru el.
Vindecarea unei femei și învierea unei fetițe
40La întoarcere, mulțimea I‑a urat lui Isus bun venit, pentru că toți Îl așteptau. (Mat 9:18; Mar 5:22)41Și iată că un om, numit Iair, care era conducătorul sinagogii, a venit, a căzut la picioarele lui Isus și L‑a rugat să vină până la el acasă,42pentru că singura lui fiică, în vârstă de vreo doisprezece ani, era pe moarte. În timp ce mergea, mulțimile se adunau grămadă în jurul Lui.43Era acolo o femeie care de doisprezece ani avea o scurgere de sânge și care cheltuise pe la doctori tot ce avusese fără să fi putut fi vindecată de cineva.44Apropiindu‑se prin spate, s‑a atins de marginea hainei Lui și deodată scurgerea ei de sânge s‑a oprit.45Isus a întrebat: – Cine M‑a atins? Pentru că toți negau, Petru I‑a zis: – Stăpâne, mulțimile se îngrămădesc în jurul Tău și se înghesuie, iar Tu întrebi: „Cine M‑a atins?!“46Dar Isus a zis: – M‑a atins cineva, pentru că știu că a ieșit o putere din Mine!47Când femeia a văzut că n‑a scăpat neobservată, a venit tremurând și a căzut înaintea Lui. Apoi a istorisit înaintea întregii mulțimi din ce cauză s‑a atins de El și cum fusese vindecată deodată.48El i‑a zis: „Fiică, credința ta te‑a vindecat! Du‑te în pace!“49În timp ce El încă vorbea, a venit cineva din casa conducătorului sinagogii și a zis: – Fiica ta a murit. Nu‑L mai deranja pe Învățător!50Dar Isus, auzind, i‑a zis lui Iair: – Nu te teme! Crede doar, și ea va fi vindecată!51Când a ajuns la casa lui Iair, n‑a lăsat pe nimeni să intre împreună cu El, în afară de Petru, de Ioan, de Iacov și de tatăl și mama copilului.52Toți plângeau și o jeleau, însă Isus le‑a zis: „Nu mai plângeți, pentru că ea n‑a murit, ci doarme!“53Ei însă râdeau de El, pentru că știau că fetița murise.54Isus, după ce i‑a scos afară pe toți, a apucat‑o de mână și a strigat, zicând: „Copilă, scoală‑te!“55Duhul ei s‑a întors, și ea s‑a ridicat deodată. Isus a dat îndrumări să i se dea fetiței să mănânce.56Părinții ei au rămas înmărmuriți. Isus le‑a poruncit să nu spună nimănui ce s‑a întâmplat.
1Soon afterward he went on through cities and villages, proclaiming and bringing the good news of the kingdom of God. And the twelve were with him, (Mar 6:6; Lu 4:43)2and also some women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, (Mat 27:55; Mat 27:56; Mat 27:61; Mat 28:1; Mar 15:40; Mar 16:9; Lu 23:49; Lu 23:55; Lu 24:10; Ioan 19:25; Ioan 20:1; Ioan 20:18; Fapte 1:14)3and Joanna, the wife of Chuza, Herod’s household manager, and Susanna, and many others, who provided for them[1] out of their means. (Lu 24:10)
The Parable of the Sower
4And when a great crowd was gathering and people from town after town came to him, he said in a parable, (Mat 13:1; Mar 4:1)5“A sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell along the path and was trampled underfoot, and the birds of the air devoured it. (Is 55:10; Amos 9:13)6And some fell on the rock, and as it grew up, it withered away, because it had no moisture. (Ioan 15:6)7And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up with it and choked it. (Ier 4:3)8And some fell into good soil and grew and yielded a hundredfold.” As he said these things, he called out, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.” (Gen 26:12; Mat 11:15)
The Purpose of the Parables
9And when his disciples asked him what this parable meant,10he said, “To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of God, but for others they are in parables, so that ‘seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.’ (Is 6:9; Mat 11:25; Mat 13:13; Mat 19:11; Ro 16:25; 1 Cor 2:6; Col 1:27; 1 Ioan 2:20; 1 Ioan 2:27)11Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. (Mat 13:18; Mar 2:2; Mar 4:13; Mar 4:33; Lu 1:2; Fapte 8:4; Iac 1:21)12The ones along the path are those who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved. (Mar 16:16)13And the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear the word, receive it with joy. But these have no root; they believe for a while, and in time of testing fall away. (Is 58:2; Ez 33:31; Os 6:4; Mar 6:20; Ioan 5:35; Gal 1:6; Gal 5:7; 1 Tim 4:1; Ev 3:12)14And as for what fell among the thorns, they are those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by the cares and riches and pleasures of life, and their fruit does not mature. (Mat 6:25; Iac 1:11)15As for that in the good soil, they are those who, hearing the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with patience. (Os 14:8; Ioan 15:5; Filip 1:11; Col 1:6; Ev 10:36; Iac 5:7)
A Lamp Under a Jar
16“No one after lighting a lamp covers it with a jar or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a stand, so that those who enter may see the light. (Mat 5:15; Mar 4:21; Lu 11:33)17For nothing is hidden that will not be made manifest, nor is anything secret that will not be known and come to light. (Mat 10:26; Lu 12:2; 1 Tim 5:25)18Take care then how you hear, for to the one who has, more will be given, and from the one who has not, even what he thinks that he has will be taken away.” (Mat 13:12; Lu 8:11)
22One day he got into a boat with his disciples, and he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side of the lake.” So they set out, (Mat 8:23; Mar 4:36; Lu 5:1; Lu 8:33; Ioan 6:16)23and as they sailed he fell asleep. And a windstorm came down on the lake, and they were filling with water and were in danger. (Lu 8:22)24And they went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we are perishing!” And he awoke and rebuked the wind and the raging waves, and they ceased, and there was a calm. (Ps 65:7; Ps 104:7; Mat 14:32; Mar 6:51; Lu 4:39)25He said to them, “Where is your faith?” And they were afraid, and they marveled, saying to one another, “Who then is this, that he commands even winds and water, and they obey him?” (Mar 1:27; Lu 5:9; Ioan 14:27)
Jesus Heals a Man with a Demon
26Then they sailed to the country of the Gerasenes,[3] which is opposite Galilee. (Mat 8:28; Mar 5:1)27When Jesus[4] had stepped out on land, there met him a man from the city who had demons. For a long time he had worn no clothes, and he had not lived in a house but among the tombs. (Apo 18:2)28When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell down before him and said with a loud voice, “What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg you, do not torment me.” (Gen 14:18; Num 24:16; Ps 57:2; Is 14:14; Dan 3:26; Mat 14:33; Mar 1:23; Mar 1:26; Lu 1:32; Lu 4:3; Lu 4:9; Lu 4:33; Lu 6:35; Fapte 8:7; Fapte 16:17)29For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. (For many a time it had seized him. He was kept under guard and bound with chains and shackles, but he would break the bonds and be driven by the demon into the desert.) (Mat 12:43; Lu 11:24)30Jesus then asked him, “What is your name?” And he said, “Legion,” for many demons had entered him. (Mat 26:53)31And they begged him not to command them to depart into the abyss. (Apo 9:1)32Now a large herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside, and they begged him to let them enter these. So he gave them permission.33Then the demons came out of the man and entered the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and drowned. (Lu 8:22)34When the herdsmen saw what had happened, they fled and told it in the city and in the country.35Then people went out to see what had happened, and they came to Jesus and found the man from whom the demons had gone, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind, and they were afraid. (Lu 8:27; Lu 10:39)36And those who had seen it told them how the demon-possessed[5] man had been healed.37Then all the people of the surrounding country of the Gerasenes asked him to depart from them, for they were seized with great fear. So he got into the boat and returned. (Lu 5:8; Fapte 16:39)38The man from whom the demons had gone begged that he might be with him, but Jesus sent him away, saying,39“Return to your home, and declare how much God has done for you.” And he went away, proclaiming throughout the whole city how much Jesus had done for him. (Ps 66:16; Lu 5:14)
Jesus Heals a Woman and Jairus’s Daughter
40Now when Jesus returned, the crowd welcomed him, for they were all waiting for him. (Lu 9:11)41And there came a man named Jairus, who was a ruler of the synagogue. And falling at Jesus’ feet, he implored him to come to his house, (Mat 9:18; Mar 5:22; Lu 13:14; Fapte 13:15; Fapte 18:8; Fapte 18:17)42for he had an only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she was dying. As Jesus went, the people pressed around him. (Mar 3:9; Lu 7:12; Lu 8:45)43And there was a woman who had had a discharge of blood for twelve years, and though she had spent all her living on physicians,[6] she could not be healed by anyone. (Lev 15:25; Mar 12:44; Lu 21:4)44She came up behind him and touched the fringe of his garment, and immediately her discharge of blood ceased. (Num 15:38; Deut 22:12; Mat 14:36; Mat 15:28; Mat 17:18; Mat 23:5)45And Jesus said, “Who was it that touched me?” When all denied it, Peter[7] said, “Master, the crowds surround you and are pressing in on you!”46But Jesus said, “Someone touched me, for I perceive that power has gone out from me.” (Lu 5:17; Lu 6:19; Fapte 10:38)47And when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling, and falling down before him declared in the presence of all the people why she had touched him, and how she had been immediately healed.48And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace.” (Lu 7:50)49While he was still speaking, someone from the ruler’s house came and said, “Your daughter is dead; do not trouble the Teacher any more.” (Lu 7:6; Lu 8:41; Ioan 11:28)50But Jesus on hearing this answered him, “Do not fear; only believe, and she will be well.”51And when he came to the house, he allowed no one to enter with him, except Peter and John and James, and the father and mother of the child. (Mar 3:17; Mar 14:33; Lu 9:28)52And all were weeping and mourning for her, but he said, “Do not weep, for she is not dead but sleeping.” (Mat 11:17; Lu 7:13; Lu 23:27; Ioan 11:4; Ioan 11:11; Fapte 20:10)53And they laughed at him, knowing that she was dead.54But taking her by the hand he called, saying, “Child, arise.” (Mat 11:5; Mar 1:31; Lu 7:14; Lu 7:22; Ioan 11:43)55And her spirit returned, and she got up at once. And he directed that something should be given her to eat. (Jud 15:19; 1 Sam 30:12)56And her parents were amazed, but he charged them to tell no one what had happened. (Mat 8:4)
