1 Господь сделал так, что Иону проглотила огромная рыба, и Иона пробыл в желудке рыбы три дня и три ночи. 

2 Находясь в желудке рыбы, Иона помолился Господу, своему Богу. 

3 Он сказал: – В горе я к Господу воззвал, и Он ответил мне. Я закричал – и Ты услышал мой крик из глубин мира мертвых. 

4 Ты в пучину меня вверг, в самое сердце морей; окружили меня потоки. Все Твои волны, все Твои валы надо мной прошли. 

5 Я сказал: «Изгнан я от глаз Твоих; однако я вновь увижу святой храм Твой». 

6 Воды надо мной сомкнулись, бездна меня обступила, и водоросли голову оплели. 

7 На дно, к самым корням гор я нисшел, засовы земли закрылись за мной навек, но Ты, Господи, Бог мой, извлек меня из ямы живым! 

8 Когда жизнь угасала во мне, я Господа вспомнил, и дошла молитва моя к Тебе, в святой храм Твой. 

9 Те, кто ничтожных идолов чтит, лишились милости, что могли получить. 

10 А я с хвалебными песнями буду жертвы Тебе приносить. Что обещал – исполню. Спасение – от Господа! 

11 Господь повелел рыбе, и она изрыгнула Иону на сушу.

Jonah’s Prayer

1 Then Jonah prayed to the LORD his God from the belly of the fish, 

2 saying, “I called out to the LORD, out of my distress, and he answered me; out of the belly of Sheol I cried, and you heard my voice. (Пс 3:4; Пс 118:5; Пс 120:1; Плач 3:55; Плач 3:56) 

3 For you cast me into the deep, into the heart of the seas, and the flood surrounded me; all your breakers and your waves passed over me. (Пс 42:7; Пс 88:6; Пс 88:7) 

4 Then I said, ‘I am driven away from your sight; yet I shall again look upon your holy temple.’ (3Цар 8:35; 3Цар 8:38; Пс 31:22) 

5 The waters closed in over me to take my life; the deep surrounded me; weeds were wrapped about my head. (Пс 69:1; Плач 3:54) 

6 To the roots of the mountains I went down, to the land whose bars closed upon me forever. Yet you brought up my life from the pit, O LORD my God. 

7 When my life was fainting away, I remembered the LORD, and my prayer came to you, into your holy temple. (2Пар 30:27) 

8 Those who pay regard to vain idols forsake their hope of steadfast love. (4Цар 17:15; Пс 31:6; Иер 2:5; Иер 2:13) 

9 But I with the voice of thanksgiving will sacrifice to you; what I have vowed I will pay. Salvation belongs to the LORD!” (Пс 3:8; Пс 50:14; Ос 14:2; Евр 13:15) 

10 And the LORD spoke to the fish, and it vomited Jonah out upon the dry land.
