1Poi Giacobbe chiamò i suoi figli e disse: «Radunatevi, e vi annuncerò ciò che vi avverrà nei giorni a venire.2Radunatevi e ascoltate, o figli di Giacobbe! Date ascolto a Israele, vostro padre!3Ruben, tu sei il mio primogenito, la mia forza, la primizia del mio vigore, eminente in dignità ed eminente in forza.4Impetuoso come l’acqua, tu non avrai la preminenza, perché sei salito sul letto di tuo padre e hai profanato il mio letto su cui eri salito.5Simeone e Levi sono fratelli: le loro spade sono strumenti di violenza.6Non entri l’anima mia nel loro consiglio segreto, non si unisca la mia gloria al loro convegno! Perché nella loro ira hanno ucciso degli uomini e nella loro malvagità hanno tagliato i garretti ai tori.7Maledetta la loro ira, perché è stata violenta, e il loro furore, perché è stato crudele! Io li dividerò in Giacobbe e li disperderò in Israele.8Giuda, te loderanno i tuoi fratelli; la tua mano sarà sul collo dei tuoi nemici; i figli di tuo padre s’inchineranno davanti a te.9Giuda è un giovane leone; tu risali dalla preda, figlio mio; egli si china, s’accovaccia come un leone, come una leonessa: chi lo farà alzare?10Lo scettro non sarà rimosso da Giuda, né sarà allontanato il bastone del comando dai suoi piedi, finché venga colui al quale esso appartiene e a cui ubbidiranno i popoli.11Egli lega il suo asinello alla vite e il puledro della sua asina alla vite migliore; lava la sua veste col vino e il suo mantello col sangue dell’uva.12Egli ha gli occhi rossi dal vino e i denti bianchi dal latte.13Zabulon abiterà sulla costa dei mari; sarà sulla costa dove approdano le navi, il suo fianco s’appoggerà a Sidone.14Issacar è un asino robusto sdraiato fra due ovili.15Egli ha visto che il riposo è buono e che il paese è ameno; ha curvato la spalla per portare il peso, ed è stato costretto ai lavori forzati.16Dan giudicherà il suo popolo, come ogni altra tribù d’Israele.17Dan sarà una serpe sulla strada, una vipera cornuta sul sentiero, che morde i garretti del cavallo e fa cadere il cavaliere all’indietro.18Io aspetto la tua salvezza, o Signore!19Gad sarà assalito da bande armate, ma egli, a sua volta, le assalirà e le inseguirà.20Da Ascer verrà il pane saporito, ed egli fornirà delizie regali.21Neftali è una cerva messa in libertà; egli dice delle belle parole.22Giuseppe è un albero fruttifero; un albero fruttifero vicino a una sorgente; i suoi rami si stendono sopra il muro.23Gli arcieri lo hanno provocato, gli hanno lanciato frecce, lo hanno perseguitato,24ma il suo arco è rimasto saldo; le sue braccia e le sue mani sono state rinforzate dalle mani del Potente di Giacobbe, da colui che è il pastore e la roccia d’Israele,25dal Dio di tuo padre che ti aiuterà e dall’Altissimo che ti benedirà con benedizioni del cielo di sopra, con benedizioni dell’abisso che giace di sotto, con benedizioni delle mammelle e del grembo materno.26Le benedizioni di tuo padre sorpassano le benedizioni dei miei progenitori, fino a raggiungere la cima delle colline eterne. Esse saranno sul capo di Giuseppe, sulla fronte del principe dei suoi fratelli.27Beniamino è un lupo rapace; la mattina divora la preda e la sera spartisce le spoglie».28Tutti costoro sono gli antenati delle dodici tribù d’Israele; questo è ciò che il loro padre disse loro, quando li benedisse. Li benedisse, dando a ciascuno la sua benedizione particolare.
Morte e sepoltura di Giacobbe
29Poi diede loro i suoi ordini e disse: «Io sto per essere riunito al mio popolo. Seppellitemi con i miei padri nella grotta che è nel campo di Efron l’Ittita,30nella grotta che è nel campo di Macpela, di fronte a Mamre, nel paese di Canaan, la quale Abraamo comprò con il campo da Efron l’Ittita, come sepolcro di sua proprietà.31Qui furono sepolti Abraamo e sua moglie Sara; furono sepolti Isacco e Rebecca sua moglie, e qui io seppellii Lea.32Il campo e la grotta che vi si trova furono comprati presso i figli di Chet».33Quando Giacobbe ebbe finito di dare questi ordini ai suoi figli, ritirò i piedi nel letto, spirò e fu riunito al suo popolo.

„Versammelt euch, damit ich verkünde, / was euch begegnet in künftiger Zeit.2Kommt und hört, ihr Jakobssöhne, / hört auf euren Vater Israel!3Ruben, du mein Erstgeborener, / meine Stärke und der Erstling meiner Kraft! / Erster an Hoheit und Erster an Macht.4Du brodeltest wie Wasser. / Du sollst nicht der Erste sein, / denn du bestiegst das Bett deines Vaters, / da hast du es entweiht, / du, der mein Lager bestieg!5Die Brüder Simeon und Levi, / ihre Waffen sind Werkzeuge der Gewalt.6Mit ihren Plänen habe ich nichts zu tun, / meine Ehre ist nicht eins mit ihrer Schar, / denn im Zorn haben sie Männer gemordet, / mutwillig Stiere gelähmt.7Verflucht sei ihr zorniges Wüten, / weil es roh und grausam ist! / Ich teile sie unter Jakob auf, / ich zerstreue sie in Israel.8Dich, Juda, preisen deine Brüder, / weil du den Feind im Nacken packst! / Dir beugen sich die Söhne deines Vaters.9Du gleichst dem jungen Löwen, Juda. / Vom Raub kommst du, mein Sohn, herauf. / Er kauert hingestreckt, / dem Löwen und der Löwin gleich. / Wer wagt ihn aufzustören?10Nie weicht das Zepter von Juda, / der Herrscherstab von seinem Schoß, / bis der kommt, dem er gehört. / Und ihm werden die Völker gehorchen.11Am Weinstock bindet er sein Reittier fest, / sein Eselsfohlen an der Edelrebe. / Sein Gewand wäscht er in Wein, / in Traubenblut den Mantel.12Die Augen sind dunkler als Wein, / die Zähne weißer als Milch.13Sebulon wohnt nah am Meer, / an der Küste bei den Schiffen, / den Rücken an Sidon[1] gelehnt.14Issachar ist ein knochiger Esel, / der zwischen seinen Sattelkörben liegt.[2]15Er sah die schöne Ruhe / und dieses freundliche Land, / da beugte er seine Schulter zum Tragen / und leistete Zwangsarbeit.16Dan wird Richter sein in seinem Volk / wie nur einer von Israels Stämmen.17Dan ist wie eine Schlange am Weg, / eine Hornotter am Pfad. / Sie beißt das Pferd in die Fesseln, / sein Reiter stürzt rücklings herab.18– Ich warte auf deine Hilfe, Jahwe! –19Gad wird von Räuberscharen umdrängt, / doch er bedrängt ihre Ferse.20Aschers Nahrung ist die beste, die es gibt, / er liefert Speise für den Tisch des Königs.21Naftali, die flüchtige Hirschkuh, / versteht sich auf gefällige Rede.22Ein junger Fruchtbaum ist Josef, / ein junger Fruchtbaum am Quell, / seine Zweige ranken über die Mauer.23Da reizten ihn die Bogenschützen, / feindselig beschossen sie ihn.24Aber sein Bogen bleibt fest, / mit rascher Hand schießt er zurück, / gelenkt von den Händen des Mächtigen, / von Jakobs Gott, / dem Hirten und dem Stein von Israel,25vom Gott deines Vaters, der dir hilft, / dem Allmächtigen, der dich segnet. / Er segnet dich mit Regen aus dem Himmel / und mit Wasser aus der Tiefe, / mit Überfluss aus Mutterbrüsten / und Fruchtbarkeit vom Mutterschoß.26Der Segen deines Vaters übertrifft den Segen der uralten Berge / und das Begehrenswerte der ewigen Hügel. / Dieser Segen sei auf Josefs Haupt, / dem Auserwählten seiner Brüder.27Benjamin ist wie ein reißender Wolf: / Am Morgen noch frisst er den Raub, / am Abend schon teilt er die Beute.“28Diese alle sind die Stämme Israels, zwölf an der Zahl, und das ist es, was ihr Vater zu ihnen sagte, als er sie segnete. Jeden von ihnen bedachte er mit dem Segen, der ihm zukam.29Dann befahl er ihnen: „Wenn ich zu meinem Volk eingeholt worden bin, begrabt mich bei meinen Vätern in der Höhle, die auf dem Feld des Hetiters Efron liegt;30in der Höhle auf dem Feld Machpela östlich von Mamre im Land Kanaan auf dem Grundstück, das Abraham als Grabstätte für seine Familie von dem Hetiter Efron erworben hat.31Dort wurden Abraham und seine Frau Sara begraben; dort liegen Isaak und Rebekka, und auch Lea habe ich dort beigesetzt.32Das Feld und die Höhle darauf sind unser rechtmäßiges Eigentum, das wir von den Hetitern erworben haben.“33Nachdem Jakob seinen Söhnen diese Anweisungen gegeben hatte, zog er seine Füße aufs Bett herauf. Er starb und wurde im Tod mit seinen Vorfahren vereint.

(Gen 17,1; Gen 35,3; Gen 35,11; Gen 50,17; De 33,13)26The blessings of your father are mighty beyond the blessings of my parents, up to the bounties of the everlasting hills.[9] May they be on the head of Joseph, and on the brow of him who was set apart from his brothers. Jacob’s Death and Burial
28All these are the twelve tribes of Israel. This is what their father said to them as he blessed them, blessing each with the blessing suitable to him.29Then he commanded them and said to them, “I am to be gathered to my people; bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite, (Gen 23,9; Gen 25,8; Gen 47,30; Gen 49,33; Gen 50,13)30in the cave that is in the field at Machpelah, to the east of Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field from Ephron the Hittite to possess as a burying place. (Gen 23,16)31There they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife. There they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife, and there I buried Leah— (Gen 23,19; Gen 25,9; Gen 35,29)32the field and the cave that is in it were bought from the Hittites.”33When Jacob finished commanding his sons, he drew up his feet into the bed and breathed his last and was gathered to his people. Se tiende al acecho como león, como leona que nadie se atreve a molestar.10El cetro no se apartará de Judá, ni de entre sus pies el bastón de mando, hasta que llegue el verdadero rey,[3] quien merece la obediencia de los pueblos.11Judá amarra su asno a la vid, y la cría de su asno a la mejor cepa; lava su ropa en vino; su manto, en la sangre de las uvas.12Sus ojos son más oscuros que el vino; sus dientes, más blancos que la leche.[4]13»Zabulón vivirá a la orilla del mar; será puerto seguro para las naves, y sus fronteras llegarán hasta Sidón.14»Isacar es un asno fuerte echado entre dos alforjas.15Al ver que el establo era bueno y que la tierra era agradable, agachó el hombro para llevar la carga y se sometió a la esclavitud.16»Dan hará justicia en su pueblo, como una de las tribus de Israel.17Dan es una serpiente junto al camino, una víbora junto al sendero, que muerde los talones del caballo y hace caer de espaldas al jinete.18»¡Señor, espero tu salvación!19»Las hordas atacan a Gad, pero él las atacará por la espalda.20»Aser disfrutará de comidas deliciosas; ofrecerá manjares de reyes.21»Neftalí es una gacela libre, que tiene hermosos cervatillos.[5]22»José es un retoño fértil, fértil retoño junto al agua, cuyas ramas trepan por el muro.23Los arqueros lo atacaron sin piedad; le tiraron flechas, lo hostigaron.24Pero su arco se mantuvo firme, porque sus brazos son fuertes. ¡Gracias al Dios fuerte de Jacob, al Pastor y Roca de Israel!25¡Gracias al Dios de tu padre, que te ayuda! ¡Gracias al Todopoderoso, que te bendice! ¡Con bendiciones de lo alto! ¡Con bendiciones del abismo! ¡Con bendiciones de los pechos y del seno materno!26Son mejores las bendiciones de tu padre que las de los montes de antaño, que la abundancia de las colinas eternas. ¡Que descansen estas bendiciones sobre la cabeza de José, sobre la frente del escogido entre sus hermanos!27»Benjamín es un lobo rapaz que en la mañana devora la presa y en la tarde reparte los despojos.»28Éstas son las doce tribus de Israel, y esto es lo que su padre les dijo cuando impartió a cada una de ellas su bendición.
Muerte de Jacob
29Además, Jacob les dio estas instrucciones: «Ya estoy a punto de reunirme con los míos. Entiérrenme junto a mis antepasados, en la cueva que está en el campo de Efrón el hitita.30Se trata de la cueva de Macpela, frente a Mamré, en la tierra de Canaán. Está en el campo que Abraham le compró a Efrón el hitita, para que fuera el sepulcro de la familia.31Allí fueron sepultados Abraham y su esposa Sara, Isaac y su esposa Rebeca, y allí también enterré a Lea.32Ese campo y su cueva se les compró a los hititas.»33Cuando Jacob terminó de dar estas instrucciones a sus hijos, volvió a acostarse, exhaló el último suspiro, y fue a reunirse con sus antepasados.
