1Preghiera di Davide. Porgi orecchio, Signore, e rispondimi, perché io sono povero e bisognoso.2Proteggi l’anima mia, perché ti amo. Dio mio, salva il tuo servo che confida in te!3Abbi pietà di me, Signore, perché io grido a te tutto il giorno.4Rallegra l’anima del tuo servo, perché a te, Signore, io elevo l’anima mia.5Poiché tu, o Signore, sei buono, pronto a perdonare e misericordioso verso quanti t’invocano.6Porgi orecchio, Signore, alla mia preghiera e sii attento alla voce delle mie suppliche.7Io t’invoco nel giorno della mia angustia, perché tu mi risponderai.8Non c’è nessuno pari a te fra gli dèi, o Signore, e non ci sono opere pari alle tue.9Tutte le nazioni che hai fatte verranno a prostrarsi davanti a te, Signore, e glorificheranno il tuo nome.10Poiché tu sei grande e operi meraviglie; tu solo sei Dio.11O Signore, insegnami la tua via; io camminerò nella tua verità; unisci il mio cuore al timore del tuo nome.12Io ti loderò, Signore, Dio mio, con tutto il mio cuore, e glorificherò il tuo nome in eterno,13perché grande è la tua bontà verso di me; tu hai salvato l’anima mia dal soggiorno dei morti.14O Dio, gente superba è insorta contro di me e una banda di violenti cerca l’anima mia, e non pongono te davanti agli occhi loro.15Ma tu, Signore, sei un Dio pietoso e misericordioso, lento all’ira e grande in bontà e in verità.16Volgiti a me e abbi pietà di me; da’ la tua forza al tuo servo e salva il figlio della tua serva.17Mostrami un segno del tuo favore! Così quelli che mi odiano si vergogneranno, vedendo che tu, Signore, mi soccorri e mi consoli.

You are my God;3have mercy on me, Lord, for I call to you all day long.4Bring joy to your servant, Lord, for I put my trust in you.5You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you.6Hear my prayer, Lord; listen to my cry for mercy.7When I am in distress, I call to you, because you answer me.8Among the gods there is none like you, Lord; no deeds can compare with yours.9All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, Lord; they will bring glory to your name.10For you are great and do marvellous deeds; you alone are God.11Teach me your way, Lord, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.12I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name for ever.13For great is your love towards me; you have delivered me from the depths, from the realm of the dead.14Arrogant foes are attacking me, O God; ruthless people are trying to kill me – they have no regard for you.15But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.16Turn to me and have mercy on me; show your strength on behalf of your servant; save me, because I serve you just as my mother did.17Give me a sign of your goodness, that my enemies may see it and be put to shame, for you, Lord, have helped me and comforted me.
