Morire con Cristo per rinascere in Cristo

1 Che diremo dunque? Rimarremo forse nel peccato affinché la grazia abbondi? 2 No di certo! Noi che siamo morti al peccato, come vivremmo ancora in esso? 3 O ignorate forse che tutti noi, che siamo stati battezzati in Cristo Gesù, siamo stati battezzati nella sua morte? 4 Siamo dunque stati sepolti con lui mediante il battesimo nella sua morte, affinché, come Cristo è stato risuscitato dai morti mediante la gloria del Padre, così anche noi camminassimo in novità di vita. 5 Perché se siamo stati totalmente uniti a lui in una morte simile alla sua, lo saremo anche in una risurrezione simile alla sua. 6 Sappiamo infatti che il nostro vecchio uomo è stato crocifisso con lui affinché il corpo del peccato fosse annullato, e noi non serviamo più al peccato; 7 infatti colui che è morto è libero dal peccato. 8 Ora, se siamo morti con Cristo, crediamo pure che vivremo con lui, 9 sapendo che Cristo, risuscitato dai morti, non muore più; la morte non ha più potere su di lui. 10 Poiché il suo morire fu un morire al peccato, una volta per sempre; ma il suo vivere è un vivere a Dio. 11 Così anche voi fate conto di essere morti al peccato, ma viventi a Dio, in Cristo Gesù. 12 Non regni dunque il peccato nel vostro corpo mortale per ubbidire alle sue concupiscenze; 13 e non prestate le vostre membra al peccato, come strumenti d’iniquità; ma presentate voi stessi a Dio, come di morti fatti viventi, e le vostre membra come strumenti di giustizia a Dio; 14 infatti il peccato non avrà più potere su di voi, perché non siete sotto la legge ma sotto la grazia. 15 Che faremo dunque? Peccheremo forse perché non siamo sotto la legge, ma sotto la grazia? No di certo! 16 Non sapete voi che se vi offrite a qualcuno come schiavi per ubbidirgli, siete schiavi di colui a cui ubbidite: o del peccato che conduce alla morte o dell’ubbidienza che conduce alla giustizia? 17 Ma sia ringraziato Dio, che eravate schiavi del peccato, ma avete ubbidito di cuore a quella forma d’insegnamento che vi è stata trasmessa; 18 e, liberati dal peccato, siete diventati servi della giustizia. 19 Parlo alla maniera degli uomini, a causa della debolezza della vostra carne; poiché, come già prestaste le vostre membra a servizio dell’impurità e dell’iniquità per commettere l’iniquità, così prestate ora le vostre membra a servizio della giustizia per la santificazione. 20 Perché quando eravate schiavi del peccato, eravate liberi riguardo alla giustizia. 21 Quale frutto dunque avevate allora? Di queste cose ora vi vergognate, poiché la loro fine è la morte. 22 Ma ora, liberati dal peccato e fatti servi di Dio, avete per frutto la vostra santificazione e per fine la vita eterna; 23 perché il salario del peccato è la morte, ma il dono di Dio è la vita eterna in Cristo Gesù, nostro Signore.

1 Was wollen wir hierzu sagen? Sollen wir denn in der Sünde beharren, damit die Gnade umso mächtiger werde? (Ro 3,5) 2 Das sei ferne! Wir sind doch der Sünde gestorben. Wie können wir noch in ihr leben? 3 Oder wisst ihr nicht, dass alle, die wir auf Christus Jesus getauft sind, die sind in seinen Tod getauft? (Ga 3,27) 4 So sind wir ja mit ihm begraben durch die Taufe in den Tod, auf dass, wie Christus auferweckt ist von den Toten durch die Herrlichkeit des Vaters, so auch wir in einem neuen Leben wandeln. (2Co 5,17; Col 2,12) 5 Denn wenn wir mit ihm zusammengewachsen sind, ihm gleich geworden in seinem Tod, so werden wir ihm auch in der Auferstehung gleich sein. 6 Wir wissen ja, dass unser alter Mensch mit ihm gekreuzigt ist, damit der Leib der Sünde vernichtet werde, sodass wir hinfort der Sünde nicht dienen. (Ga 5,24) 7 Denn wer gestorben ist, der ist frei geworden von der Sünde. 8 Sind wir aber mit Christus gestorben, so glauben wir, dass wir auch mit ihm leben werden, 9 und wissen, dass Christus, von den Toten erweckt, hinfort nicht stirbt; der Tod wird hinfort über ihn nicht herrschen. 10 Denn was er gestorben ist, das ist er der Sünde gestorben ein für alle Mal; was er aber lebt, das lebt er Gott. (Eb 9,26) 11 So auch ihr: Haltet euch für Menschen, die der Sünde gestorben sind und für Gott leben in Christus Jesus. (2Co 5,15; Ga 2,19) 12 So lasst nun die Sünde nicht herrschen in eurem sterblichen Leibe, und leistet seinen Begierden keinen Gehorsam. (Gen 4,7) 13 Auch gebt nicht der Sünde eure Glieder hin als Waffen der Ungerechtigkeit, sondern gebt euch selbst Gott hin als solche, die tot waren und nun lebendig sind, und eure Glieder Gott als Waffen der Gerechtigkeit. (Ro 12,1; Ro 13,12) 14 Denn die Sünde wird nicht herrschen über euch, weil ihr ja nicht unter dem Gesetz seid, sondern unter der Gnade. 15 Wie nun? Sollen wir sündigen, weil wir nicht unter dem Gesetz, sondern unter der Gnade sind? Das sei ferne! 16 Wisst ihr nicht? Wem ihr euch zu Knechten macht, um ihm zu gehorchen, dessen Knechte seid ihr und dem gehorcht ihr – entweder als Knechte der Sünde zum Tode oder als Knechte des Gehorsams zur Gerechtigkeit. (Giov 8,34) 17 Gott sei aber gedankt: Ihr seid Knechte der Sünde gewesen, aber nun von Herzen gehorsam geworden der Gestalt der Lehre, an die ihr übergeben wurdet. 18 Denn indem ihr nun frei geworden seid von der Sünde, seid ihr Knechte geworden der Gerechtigkeit. (Giov 8,32; Giov 8,36) 19 Ich muss menschlich davon reden um der Schwachheit eures Fleisches willen: Wie ihr eure Glieder hingegeben hattet an den Dienst der Unreinheit und Ungerechtigkeit zu immer neuer Ungerechtigkeit, so gebt nun eure Glieder hin an den Dienst der Gerechtigkeit, dass sie heilig werden. 20 Denn als ihr Knechte der Sünde wart, da wart ihr frei von der Gerechtigkeit. 21 Was hattet ihr nun damals für Frucht? Früchte, derer ihr euch jetzt schämt; denn ihr Ende ist der Tod. (Ro 8,6; Ro 8,13) 22 Nun aber, da ihr von der Sünde frei und Gottes Knechte geworden seid, habt ihr darin eure Frucht, dass ihr heilig werdet; das Ende aber ist das ewige Leben. 23 Denn der Sünde Sold ist der Tod; die Gabe Gottes aber ist das ewige Leben in Christus Jesus, unserm Herrn. 1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? 3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? 4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: 6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. 7 For he that is dead is freed from sin. 8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: 9 Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. 10 For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. 11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. 12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. 13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. 14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. 15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? Muertos al pecado, vivos en Cristo

1 ¿Qué concluiremos? ¿Vamos a persistir en el pecado, para que la gracia abunde? 2 ¡De ninguna manera! Nosotros, que hemos muerto al pecado, ¿cómo podemos seguir viviendo en él? 3 ¿Acaso no saben ustedes que todos los que fuimos bautizados para unirnos con Cristo Jesús, en realidad fuimos bautizados para participar en su muerte? 4 Por tanto, mediante el bautismo fuimos sepultados con él en su muerte, a fin de que, así como Cristo resucitó por el poder^[1] del Padre, también nosotros llevemos una vida nueva. 5 En efecto, si hemos estado unidos con él en su muerte, sin duda también estaremos unidos con él en su resurrección. 6 Sabemos que nuestra vieja naturaleza fue crucificada con él para que nuestro cuerpo pecaminoso perdiera su poder, de modo que ya no siguiéramos siendo esclavos del pecado; 7 porque el que muere queda liberado del pecado. 8 Ahora bien, si hemos muerto con Cristo, confiamos que también viviremos con él. 9 Pues sabemos que Cristo, por haber sido levantado de entre los muertos, ya no puede volver a morir; la muerte ya no tiene dominio sobre él. 10 En cuanto a su muerte, murió al pecado una vez y para siempre; en cuanto a su vida, vive para Dios. 11 De la misma manera, también ustedes considérense muertos al pecado, pero vivos para Dios en Cristo Jesús. 12 Por lo tanto, no permitan ustedes que el pecado reine en su cuerpo mortal, ni obedezcan a sus malos deseos. 13 No ofrezcan los miembros de su cuerpo al pecado como instrumentos de injusticia; al contrario, ofrézcanse más bien a Dios como quienes han vuelto de la muerte a la vida, presentando los miembros de su cuerpo como instrumentos de justicia. 14 Así el pecado no tendrá dominio sobre ustedes, porque ya no están bajo la ley sino bajo la gracia.

Esclavos de la justicia

15 Entonces, ¿qué? ¿Vamos a pecar porque no estamos ya bajo la ley sino bajo la gracia? ¡De ninguna manera! 16 ¿Acaso no saben ustedes que, cuando se entregan a alguien para obedecerlo, son esclavos de aquel a quien obedecen? Claro que lo son, ya sea del pecado que lleva a la muerte, o de la obediencia que lleva a la justicia. 17 Pero gracias a Dios que, aunque antes eran esclavos del pecado, ya se han sometido de corazón a la enseñanza^[2] que les fue transmitida. 18 En efecto, habiendo sido liberados del pecado, ahora son ustedes esclavos de la justicia. 19 Hablo en términos humanos, por las limitaciones de su naturaleza humana. Antes ofrecían ustedes los miembros de su cuerpo para servir a la impureza, que lleva más y más a la maldad; ofrézcanlos ahora para servir a la justicia que lleva a la santidad. 20 Cuando ustedes eran esclavos del pecado, estaban libres del dominio de la justicia. 21 ¿Qué fruto cosechaban entonces? ¡Cosas que ahora los avergüenzan y que conducen a la muerte! 22 Pero ahora que han sido liberados del pecado y se han puesto al servicio de Dios, cosechan la santidad que conduce a la vida eterna. 23 Porque la paga del pecado es muerte, mientras que la dádiva de Dios es vida eterna en Cristo Jesús, nuestro Señor.
