Vocazione di Samuele

1 Il piccolo Samuele serviva il Signore sotto gli occhi di Eli. La parola del Signore era rara a quei tempi, e le visioni non erano frequenti. 2 In quel medesimo tempo, Eli, la cui vista cominciava a intorbidarsi e non gli consentiva di vedere, se ne stava un giorno coricato nel suo luogo consueto; 3 la lampada di Dio non era ancora spenta e Samuele era coricato nel tempio del Signore dove si trovava l’arca di Dio. 4 Il Signore chiamò Samuele, il quale rispose: «Eccomi!» 5 Poi corse da Eli e disse: «Eccomi, poiché tu mi hai chiamato». Eli rispose: «Io non ti ho chiamato, torna a coricarti». Ed egli andò a coricarsi. 6 Il Signore chiamò Samuele di nuovo. Samuele si alzò, andò da Eli e disse: «Eccomi, poiché tu mi hai chiamato». Egli rispose: «Figlio mio, io non ti ho chiamato; torna a coricarti». 7 Ora Samuele non conosceva ancora il Signore e la parola del Signore non gli era ancora stata rivelata. 8 Il Signore chiamò di nuovo Samuele, per la terza volta. Ed egli si alzò, andò da Eli e disse: «Eccomi, poiché tu mi hai chiamato». Allora Eli comprese che il Signore chiamava il bambino. 9 Ed Eli disse a Samuele: «Va’ a coricarti; e, se sarai chiamato ancora, dirai: “Parla, Signore, poiché il tuo servo ascolta”». Samuele andò dunque a coricarsi al suo posto. 10 Il Signore venne, si fermò accanto a lui e chiamò come le altre volte: «Samuele, Samuele!» E Samuele rispose: «Parla, poiché il tuo servo ascolta». 11 Allora il Signore disse a Samuele: «Ecco, io sto per fare in Israele una cosa tale che chi la udrà ne avrà intronati tutti e due gli orecchi. 12 In quel giorno io compirò contro Eli, dal principio fino alla fine, tutto ciò che ho detto circa la sua casa. 13 Gli ho predetto che avrei esercitato i miei giudizi sulla sua casa per sempre, a causa dell’iniquità che egli ben conosce, poiché i suoi figli hanno attirato su di sé la maledizione ed egli non li ha sgridati. 14 Perciò io giuro alla casa di Eli che l’iniquità della casa di Eli non sarà mai espiata né con sacrifici né con oblazioni». 15 Samuele rimase coricato fino alla mattina, poi aprì le porte della casa del Signore. Egli temeva di raccontare a Eli la visione. 16 Ma Eli chiamò Samuele e disse: «Samuele, figlio mio!» Egli rispose: «Eccomi». 17 Ed Eli: «Qual è la parola che egli ti ha detto? Ti prego, non me la nascondere! Dio ti tratti con il massimo rigore, se mi nascondi qualcosa di tutto quello che egli ti ha detto». 18 Samuele allora gli raccontò tutto, senza nascondergli nulla. Allora Eli disse: «Egli è il Signore: faccia quello che gli parrà bene». 19 Samuele intanto cresceva e il Signore era con lui e non lasciò andare a vuoto nessuna delle sue parole. 20 Tutto Israele, da Dan fino a Beer-Sceba, riconobbe che Samuele era stabilito come profeta del Signore. 21 Il Signore continuò ad apparire a Silo, poiché a Silo il Signore si rivelava a Samuele mediante la sua parola.

1 Und zu der Zeit, als der Knabe Samuel dem HERRN diente unter Eli, war des HERRN Wort selten, und es gab kaum noch Offenbarung. (Am 8,11) 2 Und es begab sich zur selben Zeit, dass Eli lag an seinem Ort, und seine Augen fingen an, schwach zu werden, sodass er nicht mehr sehen konnte. 3 Die Lampe Gottes war noch nicht verloschen. Und Samuel hatte sich gelegt im Tempel des HERRN, wo die Lade Gottes war. (Eso 27,21; Nu 7,89) 4 Und der HERR rief Samuel. Er aber antwortete: Siehe, hier bin ich!, 5 und lief zu Eli und sprach: Siehe, hier bin ich! Du hast mich gerufen. Er aber sprach: Ich habe nicht gerufen; geh wieder hin und lege dich schlafen. Und er ging hin und legte sich schlafen. 6 Der HERR rief abermals: Samuel! Und Samuel stand auf und ging zu Eli und sprach: Siehe, hier bin ich! Du hast mich gerufen. Er aber sprach: Ich habe nicht gerufen, mein Sohn; geh wieder hin und lege dich schlafen. 7 Aber Samuel kannte den HERRN noch nicht, und des HERRN Wort war ihm noch nicht offenbart. 8 Und der HERR rief Samuel wieder, zum dritten Mal. Und er stand auf und ging zu Eli und sprach: Siehe, hier bin ich! Du hast mich gerufen. Da merkte Eli, dass der HERR den Knaben rief. 9 Und Eli sprach zu Samuel: Geh wieder hin und lege dich schlafen; und wenn du gerufen wirst, so sprich: Rede, HERR, denn dein Knecht hört. Samuel ging hin und legte sich an seinen Ort. 10 Da kam der HERR und trat herzu und rief wie vorher: Samuel, Samuel! Und Samuel sprach: Rede, denn dein Knecht hört. 11 Und der HERR sprach zu Samuel: Siehe, ich werde etwas tun in Israel, dass jedem, der davon hört, beide Ohren gellen. (2Re 21,12; Ger 19,3) 12 An dem Tage will ich über Eli kommen lassen, was ich gegen sein Haus geredet habe; ich will es anfangen und vollenden. 13 Denn ich hab’s ihm angesagt, dass ich sein Haus für immer richten will um der Schuld willen, dass er wusste, wie seine Söhne sich schändlich verhielten, und hat ihnen nicht gewehrt. (1Sam 2,27) 14 Darum habe ich dem Hause Eli geschworen, dass die Schuld des Hauses Eli niemals gesühnt werden solle, weder mit Schlachtopfern noch mit Speisopfern. 15 Und Samuel lag bis an den Morgen und tat dann die Türen auf am Hause des HERRN. Samuel aber fürchtete sich, Eli von der Erscheinung zu berichten. 16 Da rief ihn Eli und sprach: Samuel, mein Sohn! Er antwortete: Siehe, hier bin ich! 17 Er sprach: Was war das für ein Wort, das er dir gesagt hat? Verschweige mir nichts. Gott tue dir dies und das, wenn du mir etwas verschweigst von all dem, das er dir gesagt hat. 18 Da sagte ihm Samuel alles und verschwieg ihm nichts. Er aber sprach: Es ist der HERR; er tue, was ihm wohlgefällt. (2Sam 10,12; 2Sam 15,26) 19 Samuel aber wuchs heran, und der HERR war mit ihm und ließ keines von allen seinen Worten zur Erde fallen. 20 Und ganz Israel von Dan bis Beerscheba erkannte, dass Samuel damit betraut war, Prophet des HERRN zu sein. 21 Und der HERR erschien weiterhin zu Silo, denn der HERR offenbarte sich Samuel zu Silo durch das Wort des HERRN.

1 And the child Samuel ministered unto the LORD before Eli. And the word of the LORD was precious in those days; there was no open vision. 2 And it came to pass at that time, when Eli was laid down in his place, and his eyes began to wax dim, that he could not see; 3 And ere the lamp of God went out in the temple of the LORD, where the ark of God was , and Samuel was laid down to sleep ; 4 That the LORD called Samuel: and he answered, Here am I. 5 And he ran unto Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou calledst me. And he said, I called not; lie down again. And he went and lay down. 6 And the LORD called yet again, Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And he answered, I called not, my son; lie down again. 7 Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD, neither was the word of the LORD yet revealed unto him. 8 And the LORD called Samuel again the third time. And he arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And Eli perceived that the LORD had called the child. 9 Therefore Eli said unto Samuel, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call thee, that thou shalt say, Speak, LORD; for thy servant heareth. So Samuel went and lay down in his place. 10 And the LORD came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth. 11 And the LORD said to Samuel, Behold, I will do a thing in Israel, at which both the ears of every one that heareth it shall tingle. 12 In that day I will perform against Eli all things which I have spoken concerning his house: when I begin, I will also make an end. 13 For I have told him that I will judge his house for ever for the iniquity which he knoweth; because his sons made themselves vile, and he restrained them not. 14 And therefore I have sworn unto the house of Eli, that the iniquity of Eli' house shall not be purged with sacrifice nor offering for ever. 15 And Samuel lay until the morning, and opened the doors of the house of the LORD. And Samuel feared to shew Eli the vision. 16 Then Eli called Samuel, and said, Samuel, my son. And he answered, Here am I. 17 And he said, What is the thing that the LORD hath said unto thee? I pray thee hide it not from me: God do so to thee, and more also, if thou hide any thing from me of all the things that he said unto thee. 18 And Samuel told him every whit, and hid nothing from him. And he said, It is the LORD: let him do what seemeth him good. 19 And Samuel grew, and the LORD was with him, and did let none of his words fall to the ground. 20 And all Israel from Dan even to Beersheba knew that Samuel was established to be a prophet of the LORD. 21 And the LORD appeared again in Shiloh: for the LORD revealed himself to Samuel in Shiloh by the word of the LORD.

Un día, mientras él descansaba en su habitación, 3 Samuel dormía en el santuario, donde se encontraba el arca de Dios. La lámpara de Dios todavía estaba encendida. 4 El Señor llamó a Samuel, y éste respondió: —Aquí estoy. 5 Y en seguida fue corriendo adonde estaba Elí, y le dijo: —Aquí estoy; ¿para qué me llamó usted? —Yo no te he llamado —respondió Elí—. Vuelve a acostarte. Y Samuel volvió a su cama. 6 Pero una vez más el Señor lo llamó: —¡Samuel! Él se levantó, fue adonde estaba Elí y le dijo: —Aquí estoy; ¿para qué me llamó usted? —Hijo mío —respondió Elí—, yo no te he llamado. Vuelve a acostarte. 7 Samuel todavía no conocía al Señor, ni su palabra se le había revelado. 8 Por tercera vez llamó el Señor a Samuel. Él se levantó y fue adonde estaba Elí. —Aquí estoy —le dijo—; ¿para qué me llamó usted? Entonces Elí se dio cuenta de que el Señor estaba llamando al muchacho. 9 —Ve y acuéstate —le dijo Elí—. Si alguien vuelve a llamarte, dile: “Habla, Señor, que tu siervo escucha.” Así que Samuel se fue y se acostó en su cama. 10 Entonces el Señor se le acercó y lo llamó de nuevo: —¡Samuel! ¡Samuel! —Habla, que tu siervo escucha —respondió Samuel. 11 —Mira —le dijo el Señor—, estoy por hacer en Israel algo que a todo el que lo oiga le quedará retumbando en los oídos. 12 Ese día llevaré a cabo todo lo que he anunciado en contra de Elí y su familia. 13 Ya le dije que por la maldad de sus hijos he condenado a su familia para siempre; él sabía que estaban blasfemando contra Dios^[1] y, sin embargo, no los refrenó. 14 Por lo tanto, hago este juramento en contra de su familia: ¡Ningún sacrificio ni ofrenda podrá expiar jamás el pecado de la familia de Elí! 15 Samuel se acostó, y a la mañana siguiente abrió las puertas de la casa del Señor, pero no se atrevía a contarle a Elí la visión. 16 Así que Elí tuvo que llamarlo. —¡Samuel, hijo mío! —Aquí estoy —respondió Samuel. 17 —¿Qué fue lo que te dijo el Señor? —le preguntó Elí—. Te pido que no me lo ocultes. ¡Que Dios te castigue sin piedad, si me ocultas una sola palabra de todo lo que te ha dicho! 18 Samuel se lo refirió todo, sin ocultarle nada, y Elí dijo: —Él es el Señor; que haga lo que mejor le parezca. 19 Mientras Samuel crecía, el Señor estuvo con él y confirmó todo lo que le había dicho. 20 Y todo Israel, desde Dan hasta Berseba, se dio cuenta de que el Señor había confirmado a Samuel como su profeta. 21 Además, el Señor siguió manifestándose en Siló; allí se revelaba a Samuel y le comunicaba su palabra.
