Il totale delle persone della famiglia di Giacobbe che vennero in Egitto era di settanta.28Giacobbe mandò davanti a sé Giuda verso Giuseppe, perché questi lo guidasse nel paese di Goscen. Giunsero nella terra di Goscen.29Giuseppe fece attaccare il suo carro e salì in Goscen a incontrare Israele, suo padre; gli si presentò, gli si gettò al collo e pianse a lungo sul suo collo.30Israele disse a Giuseppe: «Ora, che io muoia pure, giacché ho visto il tuo volto e tu vivi ancora!»31Giuseppe disse ai suoi fratelli e alla famiglia di suo padre: «Io andrò a informare il faraone e gli dirò: “I miei fratelli e la famiglia di mio padre, che erano nel paese di Canaan, sono venuti da me.32Questi uomini sono pastori, perché sono sempre stati allevatori di bestiame e hanno condotto con sé le loro greggi, i loro armenti e tutto quello che posseggono”.33Quando il faraone vi farà chiamare e vi dirà: “Qual è la vostra occupazione?”, risponderete:34“I tuoi servi sono stati allevatori di bestiame dalla loro infanzia fino ad ora: noi come i nostri padri”. Così abiterete nella terra di Goscen, perché gli Egiziani hanno in abominio tutti i pastori».

Als er nach Beerscheba kam, schlachtete er ein Tier und opferte es dem Gott seines Vaters Isaak.2Nachts hatte er eine Vision und hörte Gott rufen: »Jakob! Jakob!« »Ja, Herr?«3»Ich bin Gott«, bekam er zur Antwort, »der Gott deines Vaters. Hab keine Angst davor, nach Ägypten zu ziehen! Nachkommen von Jakob und Lea: Ruben, der Erstgeborene,9und seine Söhne Henoch, Pallu, Hezron und Karmi;10Simeon und seine Söhne Jemuël, Jamin, Ohad, Jachin, Zohar und Schaul; Schauls Mutter war eine Kanaaniterin;11Levi und seine Söhne Gerschon, Kehat und Merari;12Juda und seine Söhne Er, Onan, Schela, Perez und Serach; Er und Onan waren schon in Kanaan gestorben; Perez hatte zwei Söhne: Hezron und Hamul;13Issachar und seine Söhne Tola, Puwa, Jaschub und Schimron;14Sebulon und seine Söhne Sered, Elon und Jachleel.15Zusammen ergibt das 33 Nachkommen von Jakob und Lea, darunter auch ihre Tochter Dina.16-18Nachkommen von Jakob und der Magd Silpa, die Laban damals seiner Tochter Lea gegeben hatte: Gad und seine Söhne Zifjon, Haggi, Schuni, Ezbon, Eri, Arod und Areli; Asser und seine Söhne Jimna, Jischwa, Jischwi und Beria sowie seine Tochter Serach; Beria hatte zwei Söhne: Heber und Malkiël. Zusammen ergibt das 16 Nachkommen von Jakob und Silpa.19-22Nachkommen von Jakob und seiner Frau Rahel: Josef und seine Söhne Manasse und Ephraim. Sie wurden ihm in Ägypten von Asenat geboren. Asenat war die Tochter Potiferas, des Priesters von On. Benjamin und seine Söhne Bela, Becher, Aschbel, Gera, Naaman, Ehi, Rosch, Muppim, Huppim und Ard. Zusammen ergibt das 14 Nachkommen von Jakob und Rahel.23-25Nachkommen von Jakob und der Magd Bilha, die Laban damals seiner Tochter Rahel mitgegeben hatte: Dan und sein Sohn Schuham; Naftali und seine Söhne Jachzeel, Guni, Jezer und Schillem. Zusammen ergibt das 7 Nachkommen von Jakob und Bilha.26Insgesamt zogen 66 leibliche Kinder und Enkel mit Jakob nach Ägypten – dazu noch die Frauen seiner Söhne.27Zählt man Jakob selbst, Josef und dessen zwei Söhne hinzu, die ihm in Ägypten geboren wurden, so kamen 70 Familienangehörige nach Ägypten.[1]
Das Wiedersehen
28Jakob schickte Juda voraus. Er sollte Josef ausrichten, dass sie nach Goschen ziehen würden.29Josef ließ sofort seinen Wagen anspannen und fuhr ihnen entgegen. Er fiel seinem Vater um den Hals und weinte lange.30Jakob sagte: »Jetzt bin ich bereit zu sterben! Ich habe dich gesehen und weiß, dass du lebst!«31Josef wandte sich an die ganze Familie: »Ich gehe zum Pharao und erzähle ihm, dass ihr von Kanaan hierhergekommen seid.32Ich sage ihm: ›Diese Männer sind Viehhirten. Sie haben ihre Rinder, Schafe und Ziegen sowie ihren ganzen Besitz mitgebracht!‹33Wenn der Pharao euch nach eurem Beruf fragt,34dann antwortet: ›Schon seit vielen Generationen sind wir Viehhirten.‹ Wenn ihr ihm das sagt, wird er euch sicher hier in Goschen wohnen lassen. Die Ägypter wollen nämlich mit Viehhirten nichts zu tun haben, dieser Beruf ist bei ihnen verachtet.«

Jacob and Joseph Reunited
28He had sent Judah ahead of him to Joseph to show the way before him in Goshen, and they came into the land of Goshen. (Gen 45,10)29Then Joseph prepared his chariot and went up to meet Israel his father in Goshen. He presented himself to him and fell on his neck and wept on his neck a good while. (Gen 45,14)30Israel said to Joseph, “Now let me die, since I have seen your face and know that you are still alive.” (Lu 2,29)31Joseph said to his brothers and to his father’s household, “I will go up and tell Pharaoh and will say to him, ‘My brothers and my father’s household, who were in the land of Canaan, have come to me.
