1 Alleluia. Beato l’uomo che teme il Signore e trova grande gioia nei suoi comandamenti. 2 Potente sulla terra sarà la sua discendenza; la stirpe degli uomini retti sarà benedetta. 3 Abbondanza e ricchezze sono in casa sua e la sua giustizia dura per sempre. 4 La luce spunta nelle tenebre per gli onesti, per chi è misericordioso, pietoso e giusto. 5 Felice l’uomo che ha compassione, dà in prestito e amministra i suoi affari con giustizia, 6 perché non vacillerà mai; il giusto sarà ricordato per sempre. 7 Egli non temerà cattive notizie; il suo cuore è saldo, fiducioso nel Signore. 8 Il suo cuore è tenace, privo di paure, e alla fine vedrà sui suoi nemici quanto desidera. 9 Egli ha dato generosamente ai bisognosi; la sua giustizia dura per sempre e la sua fronte si alza gloriosa. 10 L’empio lo vede, si irrita, digrigna i denti e si consuma; il desiderio degli empi non potrà mai avverarsi.

1 [1] Praise the Lord! Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who greatly delights in his commandments! (Sal 1,2; Sal 104,35; Sal 111,10; Sal 115,13; Sal 128,1; Sal 128,4) 2 His offspring will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. (Sal 25,13; Sal 37,26; Sal 102,28; Prov 11,21; Prov 20,7) 3 Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever. (Sal 111,3; Prov 3,16) 4 Light dawns in the darkness for the upright; he is gracious, merciful, and righteous. (Giob 11,17; Sal 97,11; Mat 1,19) 5 It is well with the man who deals generously and lends; who conducts his affairs with justice. (Sal 37,26) 6 For the righteous will never be moved; he will be remembered forever. (Sal 55,22; Prov 10,7) 7 He is not afraid of bad news; his heart is firm, trusting in the Lord. (Sal 11,1; Sal 57,7; Sal 64,10; Prov 1,33) 8 His heart is steady;[2] he will not be afraid, until he looks in triumph on his adversaries. 9 He has distributed freely; he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever; his horn is exalted in honor. (Sal 75,10; 2Co 9,9) 10 The wicked man sees it and is angry; he gnashes his teeth and melts away; the desire of the wicked will perish! (Giob 8,13; Giob 16,9; Sal 58,8; Mat 8,12; Lu 13,28)
