To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments. A Psalm of David.
1Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have given me relief when I was in distress. Be gracious to me and hear my prayer! (Giob 36,16; Is 54,17; Ger 23,6)2O men,[1] how long shall my honor be turned into shame? How long will you love vain words and seek after lies? Selah (Sal 5,6)3But know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself; the LORD hears when I call to him. (Eso 11,7; Sal 50,5)4Be angry,[2] and do not sin; ponder in your own hearts on your beds, and be silent. Selah (Sal 42,8; Sal 77,6; Ef 4,26)5Offer right sacrifices, and put your trust in the LORD. (De 33,19; Sal 37,3; Sal 51,19; Sal 62,8)6There are many who say, “Who will show us some good? Lift up the light of your face upon us, O LORD!” (Nu 6,26; Sal 31,16; Sal 67,1; Sal 80,3; Sal 80,7; Sal 80,19; Sal 89,15; Sal 119,135)7You have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and wine abound. (Is 9,3; Is 16,10; Ger 48,38)8In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety. (Le 25,18; Le 25,19; Le 26,5; De 33,28; Sal 3,5; Sal 16,9)
Salmo 4
King James Version
1To the chief Musician on Neginoth, A Psalm of David. Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.2O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? Selah.3But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him.4Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.5Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD.6There be many that say, Who will shew us any good? LORD, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.7Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased.8I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
