1Ma tu esponi le cose che sono conformi alla sana dottrina:2i vecchi siano sobri, dignitosi, assennati, sani nella fede, nell’amore, nella pazienza;3anche le donne anziane abbiano un comportamento conforme a santità, non siano maldicenti né dedite a molto vino, siano maestre del bene,4per incoraggiare le giovani ad amare i mariti, ad amare i figli,5a essere sagge, caste, diligenti nei lavori domestici, buone, sottomesse ai loro mariti, perché la parola di Dio non sia disprezzata.6Esorta ugualmente i giovani a essere saggi,7presentando te stesso in ogni cosa come esempio di opere buone; mostrando nell’insegnamento integrità, dignità,8linguaggio sano, irreprensibile, perché l’avversario resti confuso, non avendo nulla di male da dire contro di noi.9Esorta i servi a essere sottomessi ai loro padroni, a compiacerli in ogni cosa, a non contraddirli,10a non derubarli, ma a mostrare sempre lealtà perfetta, per onorare in ogni cosa la dottrina di Dio, nostro Salvatore.
Manifestazione della grazia di Dio
11Infatti la grazia di Dio, salvifica per tutti gli uomini, si è manifestata,12e ci insegna a rinunciare all’empietà e alle passioni mondane, per vivere in questo mondo moderatamente, giustamente e in modo santo,13aspettando la beata speranza e l’apparizione della gloria del nostro grande Dio e Salvatore, Cristo Gesù.14Egli ha dato se stesso per noi per riscattarci da ogni iniquità e purificarsi un popolo che gli appartenga, zelante nelle opere buone.15Parla di queste cose, esorta e riprendi con piena autorità. Nessuno ti disprezzi.
1But as for you, teach what accords with sound[1] doctrine. (1Ti 1,10)2Older men are to be sober-minded, dignified, self-controlled, sound in faith, in love, and in steadfastness. 1Du aber sollst dich in allem, was du sagst, nach der unverfälschten Lehre richten.2Die älteren Männer halte dazu an, maßvoll, ehrbar und besonnen zu leben, gesund in ihrem Glauben, ihrer Liebe und ihrer Geduld.3Die älteren Frauen fordere auf, ein Leben zu führen, wie es Gott Ehre macht. Sie sollen nicht klatschen und tratschen noch sich betrinken, sondern in allen Dingen mit gutem Beispiel vorangehen.4So können sie die jungen Frauen dazu anleiten, dass sie ihre Männer und Kinder lieben,5besonnen und anständig sind, ihren Haushalt gut versorgen, sich liebevoll und gütig verhalten und sich ihren Männern unterordnen, damit Gottes Botschaft durch sie nicht in Verruf gerät.6Ebenso musst du die jungen Männer ermahnen, beherrscht und maßvoll zu leben.7Sei du selbst ihnen in jeder Hinsicht ein gutes Vorbild. Lehre Gottes Botschaft unverfälscht und mit Würde.8Was immer du sagst, soll wahr und überzeugend sein. Nur so werden unsere Gegner beschämt und können nichts Nachteiliges gegen uns vorbringen.9Fordere die Sklaven auf, sich ihren Herren in jeder Beziehung unterzuordnen und ihnen nicht zu widersprechen. Sie sollen sich so verhalten, dass ihre Herren mit ihnen zufrieden sind.10Sie dürfen nichts unterschlagen, sondern sollen zuverlässig sein. So wird ihr ganzes Leben den Menschen vor Augen malen, wie großartig die Botschaft von Gott, unserem Retter, ist.
Im Alltag für Gott leben
11Denn Gottes Gnade ist sichtbar geworden, mit der er alle Menschen retten will.12Sie bringt uns dazu, dass wir uns von aller Gottlosigkeit und allen selbstsüchtigen Wünschen trennen, stattdessen besonnen und rechtschaffen hier in dieser Welt leben, so wie es Gott gefällt.13Denn wir warten darauf, dass sich unsere wunderbare Hoffnung erfüllt: dass unser großer Gott und Retter Jesus Christus in seiner ganzen Herrlichkeit erscheinen wird.14Er hat sein Leben für uns gegeben und uns von aller Schuld befreit. So sind wir sein Volk geworden, das ihm allein gehört; wir sind rein von Sünde und bereit, von ganzem Herzen Gutes zu tun.15Das sollst du lehren; ermahne und weise mit allem Nachdruck zurecht. Niemand darf auf dich herabsehen.
