Psalm 14

1 Für den Chorleiter: Ein Psalm Davids. Nur Narren sagen sich: »Es gibt keinen Gott.« Sie sind durch und durch schlecht und ihre Taten sind böse. Es gibt keinen, der Gutes tut! (Ps 10,4; Ps 53,2; Röm 3,10) 2 Der HERR sieht vom Himmel herab auf die Menschen, um zu sehen, ob es wenigstens einen einzigen gibt, der klug ist und nach Gott fragt. (Ps 33,13; Ps 102,20) 3 Aber sie haben sich alle von Gott abgewandt und sind nun alle verdorben. Es gibt keinen, der Gutes tut, nicht einmal einen!^[1] (Ps 58,4; Ps 143,2) 4 Werden die Bösen denn niemals klug, die mein Volk wie Brot auffressen und nicht daran denken zum HERRN zu beten? (Jes 64,6) 5 Aber Angst und Schrecken wird sie packen, denn Gott steht denen bei, die ihm gehorchen. 6 Die Bösen wollen die Hoffnungen des Armen zerstören, doch der HERR wird ihn beschützen. (Ps 9,10; Ps 40,18) 7 Ach käme doch Rettung vom Berg Zion, um Israel aus der Gefangenschaft zu befreien! Wenn der HERR die Not seines Volkes wendet, dann wird Jakob jubeln und Israel sich freuen. (Hi 42,10; Ps 53,7; Ps 85,2)

1 Foolish people say in their hearts, ‘There is no God.’ They do all kinds of horrible and evil things. No one does anything good. 2 The LORD looks down from heaven on all people. He wants to see if there are any who understand. He wants to see if there are any who trust in God. 3 All of them have turned away. They have all become evil. No one does anything good, no one at all. 4 Do all these people who do evil know nothing? They eat up my people as if they were eating bread. They never call out to the LORD. 5 But just look at them! They are filled with terror because God is among those who do right. 6 You who do evil keep poor people from succeeding. But the LORD is their place of safety. 7 How I pray that the God who saves Israel will come out of Zion! Then the LORD will bless his people with great success again. So let the people of Jacob be filled with joy! Let Israel be glad!

The Fool Says, There Is No God

1 To the choirmaster. Of David. The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds; there is none who does good. (1Mo 6,5; 1Mo 6,11; Hi 2,10; Ps 10,4; Ps 53,1; Ps 74,18; Ps 74,22; Röm 3,10)

2 The Lord looks down from heaven on the children of man, to see if there are any who understand,^[1] who seek after God. (2Chr 15,2; 2Chr 19,3; Ps 11,4; Ps 102,19)

3 They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt; there is none who does good, not even one. 5 There they are in great terror, for God is with the generation of the righteous. (Ps 24,6; Ps 73,15) 6 You would shame the plans of the poor, but^[2] the Lord is his refuge. (Ps 46,1; Ps 61,3; Ps 62,7; Ps 91,2; Ps 142,5)
