1The revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John,2who testifies to everything he saw – that is, the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ.3Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.
Greetings and doxology
4John, To the seven churches in the province of Asia: Grace and peace to you from him who is, and who was, and who is to come, and from the seven spirits[1] before his throne,5and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood,6and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father – to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.7‘Look, he is coming with the clouds,’ and ‘every eye will see him, even those who pierced him’; and all peoples on earth ‘will mourn because of him.’ So shall it be! Amen. (Da 7:13; Zec 12:10)8‘I am the Alpha and the Omega,’ says the Lord God, ‘who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.’
John’s vision of Christ
9I, John, your brother and companion in the suffering and kingdom and patient endurance that are ours in Jesus, was on the island of Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.10On the Lord’s Day I was in the Spirit, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet,11which said: ‘Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea.’12I turned round to see the voice that was speaking to me. And when I turned I saw seven golden lampstands,13and among the lampstands was someone like a son of man,[2] dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash round his chest. (Da 7:13)14The hair on his head was white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire.15His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters.16In his right hand he held seven stars, and coming out of his mouth was a sharp, double-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance.17When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: ‘Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last.18I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.19‘Write, therefore, what you have seen, what is now and what will take place later.20The mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand and of the seven golden lampstands is this: the seven stars are the angels[3] of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.

A Celui Care ne iubește, Care ne‑a eliberat din păcatele noastre prin sângele Lui (Ps 89:27)6și ne‑a făcut o Împărăție, preoți[7] pentru Dumnezeu, Tatăl Său, a Lui să fie slava și puterea în vecii vecilor! Amin. (Ex 19:6; 1Pe 2:5; 1Pe 2:9)7Iată, El vine cu norii[8] și orice ochi Îl va vedea, chiar și cei care L‑au străpuns[9]. Toate semințiile pământului se vor jeli din cauza Lui. Da! Viziunea lui Ioan despre Cristos
9Eu, Ioan, fratele vostru și părtaș împreună cu voi la necaz, la Împărăție[12] și la răbdarea în Isus, mă aflam pe insula Patmos[13], din cauza Cuvântului lui Dumnezeu și a mărturiei lui Isus.10În ziua Domnului[14] eram în Duhul și am auzit în spatele meu un glas puternic ca o trâmbiță, (Ac 20:7)11zicând: „Scrie pe un sul ceea ce vezi și trimite‑l celor șapte biserici: în Efes, Smirna, Pergam, Tiatira, Sardes, Filadelfia și Laodicea[15]!“12M‑am întors să văd ce glas vorbea cu mine. Și când m‑am întors, am văzut șapte sfeșnice de aur,13iar în mijlocul sfeșnicelor, pe „Cineva asemenea unui fiu al omului“[16]. Era îmbrăcat într‑o mantie care‑I ajungea până la picioare și era încins la piept cu un brâu de aur.[17] (Ex 28:4; Ex 29:5; Da 7:13)14Capul și părul Lui erau albe ca lâna albă sau ca zăpada,[18] ochii Lui erau ca flacăra focului,[19] (Da 7:9; Da 10:6; Re 2:23; Re 4:6)15picioarele Lui erau asemenea bronzului încins, ars ca în cuptor, iar glasul Îi era asemenea vuietului unor ape mari.[20] (Eze 1:24; Eze 1:27; Da 10:6)16În mâna dreaptă avea șapte stele, și din gură Îi ieșea o sabie ascuțită, cu două tăișuri. Fața Lui era ca soarele atunci când strălucește în toată puterea lui.17Când L‑am văzut, am căzut la picioarele Lui, ca mort. El Și‑a pus peste mine mâna dreaptă și mi‑a zis: „Nu te teme! Eu sunt Cel dintâi și Cel de pe urmă18și Cel Ce trăiește! Am fost mort, dar iată că sunt viu în vecii vecilor! Eu am cheile morții și ale Locuinței Morților[21]!19Așadar, scrie ce ai văzut, ce este acum și ce urmează[22] să se întâmple după acestea!20Cât despre taina[23] celor șapte stele pe care le‑ai văzut în mâna Mea dreaptă și a celor șapte sfeșnice de aur, cele șapte stele sunt îngerii[24] celor șapte biserici, iar cele șapte sfeșnice sunt cele șapte biserici.
