1The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.2Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge.3They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them.4Yet their voice[1] goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun.5It is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, like a champion rejoicing to run his course.6It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other; nothing is deprived of its warmth.7The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.8The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes.9The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring for ever. The decrees of the Lord are firm, and all of them are righteous.10They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the honeycomb.11By them your servant is warned; in keeping them there is great reward.12But who can discern their own errors? Forgive my hidden faults.13Keep your servant also from wilful sins; may they not rule over me. Then I will be blameless, innocent of great transgression.14May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.
1Cerurile declară slava lui Dumnezeu și întinderea[1] istorisește despre lucrarea mâinilor Lui. (Ge 1:6)2O zi dă de știre altei zile acest mesaj și o noapte vestește această cunoaștere altei nopți,3dar fără vorbe și fără cuvinte, fără să li se audă glasul.[2]4Răsunetul lor a străbătut întreg pământul, și cuvintele lor au ajuns până la marginea lumii. În ceruri, El a întins un cort soarelui.5Acesta este asemenea unui mire care iese din odaia lui de nuntă, asemenea unui viteaz ce se bucură să alerge pe cale:6răsăritul lui este la un capăt al cerului și roată‑i este drumul până la celălalt capăt al lui. Nimic nu se poate ascunde de căldura lui.7Legea DOMNULUI este desăvârșită; ea înviorează sufletul. Mărturia DOMNULUI este demnă de încredere; ea înțelepțește pe cel neștiutor[3].8Orânduirile DOMNULUI sunt drepte; ele îmi bucură inima. Porunca DOMNULUI este curată; ea luminează ochii.9Teama de DOMNUL este curată; ea rămâne pe vecie. Judecățile DOMNULUI sunt adevărate; toate sunt drepte.10Ele sunt mai de dorit decât aurul, decât mult aur curat, sunt mai dulci decât mierea, decât picurul din faguri.11Chiar și robul Tău este instruit prin ele. Când le păzește, are o mare răsplată.12Cine își cunoaște greșelile făcute din neștiință? Iartă‑mi greșelile ascunse!13Păzește‑l, de asemenea, pe robul Tău de păcatele cu bună știință[4], ca să nu stăpânească peste mine! Atunci voi fi integru, nevinovat de o mare fărădelege.14Fie plăcute cuvintele gurii mele și murmurul inimii mele înaintea Ta, DOAMNE, Stânca mea, Răscumpărătorul meu!
