1[1] ‘Surely the day is coming; it will burn like a furnace. All the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble, and that day that is coming will set them on fire,’ says the Lord Almighty. ‘Not a root or a branch will be left to them.2But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays. And you will go out and frolic like well-fed calves.3Then you will trample on the wicked; they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day when I act,’ says the Lord Almighty.4‘Remember the law of my servant Moses, the decrees and laws I gave him at Horeb for all Israel.5‘See, I will send the prophet Elijah to you before that great and dreadful day of the Lord comes.6He will turn the hearts of the parents to their children, and the hearts of the children to their parents; or else I will come and strike the land with total destruction.’
1Iată, vine ziua care arde ca un cuptor! Toți cei aroganți și toți cei ce trăiesc în răutate vor fi o miriște. Ziua care vine îi va arde, zice DOMNUL Oștirilor, și nu le va mai lăsa nici rădăcină, nici ramuri!2Dar pentru voi care vă temeți de Numele Meu va răsări Soarele dreptății, aducând vindecare sub aripile Lui! Veți ieși și veți sări ca vițeii din grajd.3Îi veți călca în picioare pe cei răi, căci ei vor fi cenușă sub tălpile picioarelor voastre în ziua pe care Eu o pregătesc, zice DOMNUL Oștirilor.4Aduceți‑vă aminte de Legea robului Meu Moise, de hotărârile și judecățile pe care i le‑am poruncit la Horeb pentru tot Israelul!5Iată, vi‑l voi trimite pe profetul Ilie înainte să vină ziua cea mare și de temut a DOMNULUI!6El va întoarce inimile taților spre copiii lor și inimile copiilor spre tații lor, ca nu cumva, atunci când voi veni, să lovesc țara cu blestem[1]!“
