1Therefore, since through God’s mercy we have this ministry, we do not lose heart.2Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to everyone’s conscience in the sight of God.3And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing.4The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.5For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake.6For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ. (Ge 1:3)7But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.8We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair;9persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.10We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.11For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body.12So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.13It is written: ‘I believed; therefore I have spoken.’[1] Since we have that same spirit of[2] faith, we also believe and therefore speak, (Ps 116:10)14because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you to himself.15All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.16Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.17For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.18So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
1De aceea, având slujba aceasta, după mila ce ni s‑a arătat, nu ne descurajăm.2Dimpotrivă, am respins lucrurile ascunse și rușinoase[1], și nu umblăm cu viclenie, nici nu falsificăm[2] Cuvântul lui Dumnezeu, ci, prin expunerea adevărului, ne recomandăm pe noi înșine conștiinței oricărui om, înaintea lui Dumnezeu.3Iar, dacă Evanghelia noastră este acoperită, este acoperită printre cei ce pier,4în mijlocul cărora dumnezeul veacului acestuia a orbit mințile necredincioșilor, ca să nu strălucească asupra lor lumina Evangheliei slavei lui Cristos,[3] Care este chipul lui Dumnezeu.5Noi nu ne predicăm pe noi înșine, ci pe Isus Cristos ca Domn, iar pe noi înșine ca sclavi ai voștri, de dragul lui Isus.6Fiindcă Dumnezeu, Care a spus: „Să strălucească din întuneric lumina!“[4], este Cel Ce a strălucit în inimile noastre ca să ne dea lumina cunoașterii slavei lui Dumnezeu în fața lui Isus Cristos. (Ge 1:3)7Dar noi avem comoara aceasta în niște vase de lut, pentru ca această putere nemaiîntâlnită să fie de la Dumnezeu, și nu de la noi.8Suntem în necaz în toate, dar nu zdrobiți, nedumeriți, dar nu disperați,9persecutați, dar nu părăsiți, trântiți la pământ, dar nu distruși,10purtăm întotdeauna în trup moartea lui Isus, pentru ca și viața lui Isus să fie văzută în trupurile noastre.11Căci noi, cei vii, suntem întotdeauna dați la moarte din cauza lui Isus, pentru ca și viața lui Isus să fie văzută în trupul nostru muritor.12Astfel, în noi lucrează moartea, iar în voi viața.13Însă, fiindcă avem același duh al credinței, potrivit cu ceea ce este scris: „Am crezut, de aceea am vorbit!“[5], și noi credem și de aceea vorbim. (Ps 116:10)14Știm că Cel Ce L‑a înviat pe Domnul Isus ne va învia și pe noi împreună cu Isus și ne va face să ne înfățișăm împreună cu voi.15Toate sunt pentru voi, pentru ca harul, care crește prin mulți, să facă să sporească mulțumirea, spre slava lui Dumnezeu.16De aceea, noi nu ne descurajăm, ci, chiar dacă omul nostru din afară piere, totuși omul nostru dinăuntru este înnoit din zi în zi.17Căci necazul nostru ușor, temporar, lucrează în noi greutatea veșnică a slavei cu mult mai măreață.18Noi nu ne uităm la lucrurile care se văd, ci la cele care nu se văd, deoarece cele care se văd sunt trecătoare, dar cele care nu se văd sunt veșnice.
