1When you have entered the land that the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance and have taken possession of it and settled in it,2take some of the firstfruits of all that you produce from the soil of the land that the Lord your God is giving you and put them in a basket. Then go to the place that the Lord your God will choose as a dwelling for his Name3and say to the priest in office at the time, ‘I declare today to the Lord your God that I have come to the land the Lord swore to our ancestors to give us.’4The priest shall take the basket from your hands and set it down in front of the altar of the Lord your God.5Then you shall declare before the Lord your God: ‘My father was a wandering Aramean, and he went down into Egypt with a few people and lived there and became a great nation, powerful and numerous.6But the Egyptians ill-treated us and made us suffer, subjecting us to harsh labour.7Then we cried out to the Lord, the God of our ancestors, and the Lord heard our voice and saw our misery, toil and oppression.8So the Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, with great terror and with signs and wonders.9He brought us to this place and gave us this land, a land flowing with milk and honey;10and now I bring the firstfruits of the soil that you, Lord, have given me.’ Place the basket before the Lord your God and bow down before him.11Then you and the Levites and the foreigners residing among you shall rejoice in all the good things the Lord your God has given to you and your household.12When you have finished setting aside a tenth of all your produce in the third year, the year of the tithe, you shall give it to the Levite, the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow, so that they may eat in your towns and be satisfied.13Then say to the Lord your God: ‘I have removed from my house the sacred portion and have given it to the Levite, the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow, according to all you commanded. I have not turned aside from your commands nor have I forgotten any of them.14I have not eaten any of the sacred portion while I was in mourning, nor have I removed any of it while I was unclean, nor have I offered any of it to the dead. I have obeyed the Lord my God; I have done everything you commanded me.15Look down from heaven, your holy dwelling-place, and bless your people Israel and the land you have given us as you promised on oath to our ancestors, a land flowing with milk and honey.’
Follow the Lord’s commands
16The Lord your God commands you this day to follow these decrees and laws; carefully observe them with all your heart and with all your soul.17You have declared this day that the Lord is your God and that you will walk in obedience to him, that you will keep his decrees, commands and laws – that you will listen to him.18And the Lord has declared this day that you are his people, his treasured possession as he promised, and that you are to keep all his commands.19He has declared that he will set you in praise, fame and honour high above all the nations he has made and that you will be a people holy to the Lord your God, as he promised.
1You will enter the land the LORD your God is giving you as your own. You will take it over. You will make your homes in the land.2When you do, get some of the first share of everything your soil produces. Put it in a basket. It’s from the land the LORD your God is giving you. Take your gifts and go to the special place he will choose. He will put his Name there.3Speak to the priest in office at that time. Tell him, ‘I announce today to the LORD your God that I have come to this land. It’s the land he promised to give us. He promised it to our people of long ago.’4The priest will receive the basket from you. He’ll set it down in front of the altar of the LORD your God.5Then you will speak while the LORD is listening. You will say, ‘My father Jacob was a wanderer from the land of Aram. He went down into Egypt with a few people. He lived there and became the father of a great nation. It had huge numbers of people.6But the people of Egypt treated us badly. They made us suffer. They made us work very hard.7Then we cried out to the LORD. He is the God of our people who lived long ago. He heard our voice. He saw how much we were suffering. The Egyptians were treating us badly. They were making us work very hard.8So the LORD used his mighty hand and powerful arm to bring us out of Egypt. He did great and terrifying things. He did signs and amazing things.9He brought us to this place. He gave us this land. It’s a land that has plenty of milk and honey.10Now, LORD, I’m bringing you the first share of crops from the soil. After all, you have given them to me.’ Place the basket in front of the LORD your God. Bow down to him.11Then you and the Levites and the outsiders among you will be full of joy. You will enjoy all the good things the LORD your God has given to you and your family.12You will set apart a tenth of everything you produce in the third year. That’s the year for giving the tenth to people who have greater needs. You will give it to the Levites, outsiders and widows. You will also give it to children whose fathers have died. Then all of them will have plenty to eat in your towns.13Speak to the LORD your God. Say to him, ‘I have taken your sacred share from my house. I have given it to the Levites, outsiders and widows. I have also given it to children whose fathers have died. I’ve done everything you commanded me to do. I haven’t stopped obeying your commands. I haven’t forgotten any of them.14I haven’t eaten any part of your sacred share while I mourned over someone who had died. I haven’t taken any of it from my house while I was “unclean”. And I haven’t offered any of it to the dead. LORD my God, I’ve obeyed you. I’ve done everything you commanded me to do.15Look down from the holy place where you live in heaven. Bless your people Israel. Bless the land you have given us. It’s the land you promised to give to our people of long ago. It’s a land that has plenty of milk and honey.’
Obey the Lord’s commands
16This day the LORD your God commands you to obey all these rules and laws. Be careful to obey them with all your heart and with all your soul.17Today you have announced that the LORD is your God. You have said you would live exactly as he wants you to live. You have agreed to keep his rules, commands and laws. And you have said you would listen to him.18Today the LORD has announced that you are his people. He has said that you are his special treasure. He promised that you would be. He has told you to keep all his commands.19He has announced that he will make you famous. He’ll give you more praise and honour than all the other nations he has made. And he has said that you will be a holy nation. The LORD your God has set you apart for himself. That’s exactly what he promised to do.

(De 1:8)4Und der Priester soll den Korb aus deiner Hand nehmen und ihn vor den Altar des HERRN, deines Gottes, niedersetzen.5Du aber sollst vor dem HERRN, deinem Gott, anheben und sprechen: Ein umherirrender[1] Aramäer war mein Vater, und er zog nach Ägypten hinab und hielt sich dort als Fremder auf, als ein geringes Häuflein[2]. Doch er wurde dort zu einer großen, starken und zahlreichen Nation. (Ge 28:5; Ge 46:3; Ex 1:7; De 10:22; Isa 51:2; Ho 12:13)6Und die Ägypter misshandelten uns, unterdrückten uns und legten uns harte Arbeit auf. (Ex 1:11; Nu 20:15)7Da schrien wir zu dem HERRN, dem Gott unserer Väter, und der HERR hörte unsere Stimme und sah unser Elend und unsere Mühsal und unsere Bedrängnis. (Ex 2:23)8Und der HERR führte uns aus Ägypten heraus mit starker Hand und mit ausgestrecktem Arm und mit großem Schrecken und mit Zeichen und Wundern[3]. (Ex 6:6; Ex 13:3; De 4:34; De 5:15)9Und er brachte uns an diese Stätte und gab uns dieses Land, ein Land, das von Milch und Honig überfließt. (De 6:3)10Und nun siehe, ich habe die Erstlinge der Frucht des Landes gebracht, das du, HERR, mir gegeben hast. – Und du sollst sie vor dem HERRN, deinem Gott, niederlegen und anbeten[4] vor dem HERRN, deinem Gott. (Ex 23:19)11Und du sollst dich an all dem Guten freuen, das der HERR, dein Gott, dir und deinem Haus gegeben hat, du und der Levit und der Fremde, der in deiner Mitte ⟨wohnt⟩. (De 12:7)
Gebet zur Abgabe des Zehnten für die Armen
12Wenn du den ganzen Zehnten deines Ertrages im dritten Jahr, dem Jahr des Zehnten, vollständig entrichtet hast und ihn dem Leviten, dem Fremden, der Waise und der Witwe gegeben hast, damit sie in deinen Toren essen und sich sättigen, (Ge 47:24; De 14:28)13dann sollst du vor dem HERRN, deinem Gott, sprechen: Ich habe das Geheiligte aus dem Haus weggeschafft und habe es auch dem Leviten und dem Fremden, der Waise und der Witwe gegeben nach all deinem Gebot, das du mir befohlen hast; ich habe deine Gebote nicht übertreten noch vergessen. (Ps 18:22)14Ich habe nichts davon gegessen in meiner Trauer⟨zeit⟩ und habe nichts davon als Unreiner weggeschafft und habe nichts davon für einen Toten gegeben. Ich habe der Stimme des HERRN, meines Gottes, gehorcht, ich habe getan nach allem, was du mir geboten hast. (De 13:5; De 15:5; Ps 18:22; Jer 16:7; Ho 9:4)15Blicke herab von deiner heiligen Wohnung vom Himmel, und segne dein Volk Israel und das Land, das du uns gegeben, wie du es unseren Vätern geschworen hast, ein Land, das von Milch und Honig überfließt! (De 1:8; De 6:3; 1Ki 8:43; Ps 80:15; Ps 102:20; Isa 63:15)
Bundeszuspruch und Bundestreue
16Am heutigen Tag befiehlt dir der HERR, dein Gott, diese Ordnungen und Rechtsbestimmungen zu tun. So bewahre und tue sie mit deinem ganzen Herzen und mit deiner ganzen Seele! (De 10:12)17Du hast heute den HERRN sagen lassen, dass er dein Gott sein will und dass du auf seinen Wegen gehen und seine Ordnungen und seine Gebote und seine Rechtsbestimmungen bewahren und seiner Stimme gehorchen willst. (Ex 19:8; De 29:12; Jos 24:22)18Und der HERR hat dich heute sagen lassen, dass du ihm zum Volk ⟨seines⟩ Eigentums sein willst, wie er zu dir geredet hat, und dass du alle seine Gebote bewahren willst, (De 7:6; De 14:2; De 27:10)19und dass er dich als höchste über alle Nationen stellen will, die er gemacht hat, zum Ruhm und zum Namen und zum Schmuck, und dass du dem HERRN, deinem Gott, ein heiliges Volk sein willst, wie er geredet hat. (Ex 19:5; De 28:1; Jer 13:11; Zep 3:19; Zec 8:13)
