from Biblica1Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron will be your prophet.2You are to say everything I command you, and your brother Aaron is to tell Pharaoh to let the Israelites go out of his country.3But I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and though I multiply my signs and wonders in Egypt,4he will not listen to you. Then I will lay my hand on Egypt and with mighty acts of judgment I will bring out my divisions, my people the Israelites.5And the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord when I stretch out my hand against Egypt and bring the Israelites out of it.’6Moses and Aaron did just as the Lord commanded them.7Moses was eighty years old and Aaron eighty-three when they spoke to Pharaoh.
Aaron’s staff becomes a snake
8The Lord said to Moses and Aaron,9‘When Pharaoh says to you, “Perform a miracle,” then say to Aaron, “Take your staff and throw it down before Pharaoh,” and it will become a snake.’10So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did just as the Lord commanded. Aaron threw his staff down in front of Pharaoh and his officials, and it became a snake.11Pharaoh then summoned the wise men and sorcerers, and the Egyptian magicians also did the same things by their secret arts:12each one threw down his staff and it became a snake. But Aaron’s staff swallowed up their staffs.13Yet Pharaoh’s heart became hard and he would not listen to them, just as the Lord had said.
The plague of blood
14Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘Pharaoh’s heart is unyielding; he refuses to let the people go.15Go to Pharaoh in the morning as he goes out to the river. Confront him on the bank of the Nile, and take in your hand the staff that was changed into a snake.16Then say to him, “The Lord, the God of the Hebrews, has sent me to say to you: Let my people go, so that they may worship me in the wilderness. But until now you have not listened.17This is what the Lord says: by this you will know that I am the Lord: with the staff that is in my hand I will strike the water of the Nile, and it will be changed into blood.18The fish in the Nile will die, and the river will stink; the Egyptians will not be able to drink its water.” ’19The Lord said to Moses, ‘Tell Aaron, “Take your staff and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt – over the streams and canals, over the ponds and all the reservoirs – and they will turn to blood.” Blood will be everywhere in Egypt, even in vessels[1] of wood and stone.’20Moses and Aaron did just as the Lord had commanded. He raised his staff in the presence of Pharaoh and his officials and struck the water of the Nile, and all the water was changed into blood.21The fish in the Nile died, and the river smelled so bad that the Egyptians could not drink its water. Blood was everywhere in Egypt.22But the Egyptian magicians did the same things by their secret arts, and Pharaoh’s heart became hard; he would not listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the Lord had said.23Instead, he turned and went into his palace, and did not take even this to heart.24And all the Egyptians dug along the Nile to get drinking water, because they could not drink the water of the river.
The plague of frogs
25Seven days passed after the Lord struck the Nile.
1Der HERR sprach zu Mose: Siehe, ich setze dich zum Gott für den Pharao, und Aaron, dein Bruder, soll dein Prophet sein. (Ex 4:16)2Du sollst alles reden, was ich dir gebieten werde; aber Aaron, dein Bruder, soll es vor dem Pharao reden, damit er die Israeliten aus seinem Lande ziehen lasse.3Aber ich will das Herz des Pharao verhärten und viele Zeichen und Wunder tun in Ägyptenland. (Ex 4:21)4Und der Pharao wird nicht auf euch hören. Dann werde ich meine Hand auf Ägypten legen und durch große Gerichte meine Heerscharen, mein Volk, die Israeliten, aus Ägyptenland führen.5Und die Ägypter sollen innewerden, dass ich der HERR bin, wenn ich meine Hand über Ägypten ausstrecken und die Israeliten aus ihrer Mitte wegführen werde. (Ex 8:18; Ex 9:29; Ex 17:1; 1Sa 17:46; 1Ki 20:28; 2Ki 19:19; Eze 29:6)6Mose und Aaron taten, wie ihnen der HERR geboten hatte.7Und Mose war achtzig Jahre und Aaron dreiundachtzig Jahre alt, als sie mit dem Pharao redeten.8Und der HERR sprach zu Mose und Aaron:9Wenn der Pharao zu euch sagen wird: Weist euch aus durch ein Wunder!, so sollst du zu Aaron sagen: Nimm deinen Stab und wirf ihn hin vor dem Pharao, dass er zur Schlange werde! (Ex 4:3)10Da gingen Mose und Aaron hinein zum Pharao und taten, wie ihnen der HERR geboten hatte. Und Aaron warf seinen Stab hin vor dem Pharao und vor seinen Großen, und er ward zur Schlange.11Da ließ der Pharao die Weisen und Zauberer rufen und die ägyptischen Zauberer taten ebenso mit ihren Künsten: (Ge 41:8; Ex 8:3; Ex 22:1; 2Ti 3:8)12Ein jeder warf seinen Stab hin, da wurden Schlangen daraus; aber Aarons Stab verschlang ihre Stäbe.13Aber das Herz des Pharao wurde verstockt, und er hörte nicht auf sie, wie der HERR gesagt hatte. (Ex 4:21)
Die erste Plage: Verwandlung aller Gewässer in Blut
14Und der HERR sprach zu Mose: Das Herz des Pharao ist hart; er weigert sich, das Volk ziehen zu lassen.15Geh hin zum Pharao morgen früh. Siehe, er wird ans Wasser gehen; so tritt ihm entgegen am Ufer des Nils und nimm den Stab in deine Hand, der zur Schlange wurde,16und sprich zu ihm: Der HERR, der Gott der Hebräer, hat mich zu dir gesandt und lässt dir sagen: Lass mein Volk ziehen, dass es mir diene in der Wüste. Aber du hast bisher nicht hören wollen. (Ex 5:1)17Darum spricht der HERR: Daran sollst du erfahren, dass ich der HERR bin: Siehe, ich will mit dem Stabe, den ich in meiner Hand habe, auf das Wasser schlagen, das im Nil ist, und es soll in Blut verwandelt werden. (Ex 4:9)18Die Fische im Strom werden sterben, und der Strom wird stinken. Und die Ägypter wird es ekeln, das Wasser aus dem Nil zu trinken.19Und der HERR sprach zu Mose: Sage Aaron: Nimm deinen Stab und recke deine Hand aus über die Wasser in Ägypten, über ihre Ströme und Kanäle und Sümpfe und über alle Wasserstellen, dass sie zu Blut werden, und es sei Blut in ganz Ägyptenland, selbst in den hölzernen und steinernen Gefäßen. (Re 11:6)20Mose und Aaron taten, wie ihnen der HERR geboten hatte. Da hob er den Stab und schlug ins Wasser, das im Nil war, vor dem Pharao und seinen Großen. Und alles Wasser im Strom wurde in Blut verwandelt.21Und die Fische im Strom starben und der Strom wurde stinkend, sodass die Ägypter das Wasser aus dem Nil nicht trinken konnten; und es war Blut in ganz Ägyptenland.22Und die ägyptischen Zauberer taten ebenso mit ihren Künsten. So wurde das Herz des Pharao verstockt, und er hörte nicht auf Mose und Aaron, wie der HERR gesagt hatte. (Ex 11:1)23Und der Pharao wandte sich und ging heim und nahm sich auch dies nicht zu Herzen.24Aber alle Ägypter gruben am Nil entlang nach Wasser zum Trinken, denn das Wasser aus dem Strom konnten sie nicht trinken.25Und das währte sieben Tage lang, nachdem der HERR den Strom geschlagen hatte.
Die zweite Plage: Frösche
26Da sprach der HERR zu Mose: Geh hinein zum Pharao und sage zu ihm: So spricht der HERR: Lass mein Volk ziehen, dass es mir diene! (Ex 5:1)27Wenn du dich aber weigerst, siehe, so will ich dein ganzes Gebiet mit Fröschen plagen,28dass der Nil von Fröschen wimmeln soll. Die sollen heraufkriechen und in dein Haus kommen, in deine Schlafkammer, auf dein Bett, auch in die Häuser deiner Großen und deines Volks, in deine Backöfen und in deine Backtröge;29ja, die Frösche sollen auf dich selbst und auf dein Volk und auf alle deine Großen kriechen.
