1The man brought me back to the entrance to the temple, and I saw water coming out from under the threshold of the temple towards the east (for the temple faced east). The water was coming down from under the south side of the temple, south of the altar.2He then brought me out through the north gate and led me round the outside to the outer gate facing east, and the water was trickling from the south side.3As the man went eastward with a measuring line in his hand, he measured off a thousand cubits[1] and then led me through water that was ankle-deep.4He measured off another thousand cubits and led me through water that was knee-deep. He measured off another thousand and led me through water that was up to the waist.5He measured off another thousand, but now it was a river that I could not cross, because the water had risen and was deep enough to swim in – a river that no-one could cross.6He asked me, ‘Son of man, do you see this?’ Then he led me back to the bank of the river.7When I arrived there, I saw a great number of trees on each side of the river.8He said to me, ‘This water flows towards the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah,[2] where it enters the Dead Sea. When it empties into the sea, the salty water there becomes fresh.9Swarms of living creatures will live wherever the river flows. There will be large numbers of fish, because this water flows there and makes the salt water fresh; so where the river flows everything will live.10Fishermen will stand along the shore; from En Gedi to En Eglaim there will be places for spreading nets. The fish will be of many kinds – like the fish of the Mediterranean Sea.11But the swamps and marshes will not become fresh; they will be left for salt.12Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river. Their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail. Every month they will bear fruit, because the water from the sanctuary flows to them. Their fruit will serve for food and their leaves for healing.’
The boundaries of the land
13This is what the Sovereign Lord says: ‘These are the boundaries of the land that you will divide among the twelve tribes of Israel as their inheritance, with two portions for Joseph.14You are to divide it equally among them. Because I swore with uplifted hand to give it to your ancestors, this land will become your inheritance.15‘This is to be the boundary of the land: ‘On the north side it will run from the Mediterranean Sea by the Hethlon road past Lebo Hamath to Zedad,16Berothah[3] and Sibraim (which lies on the border between Damascus and Hamath), as far as Hazer Hattikon, which is on the border of Hauran.17The boundary will extend from the sea to Hazar Enan,[4] along the northern border of Damascus, with the border of Hamath to the north. This will be the northern boundary.18On the east side the boundary will run between Hauran and Damascus, along the Jordan between Gilead and the land of Israel, to the Dead Sea and as far as Tamar.[5] This will be the eastern boundary.19On the south side it will run from Tamar as far as the waters of Meribah Kadesh, then along the Wadi of Egypt to the Mediterranean Sea. This will be the southern boundary.20On the west side, the Mediterranean Sea will be the boundary to a point opposite Lebo Hamath. This will be the western boundary.21‘You are to distribute this land among yourselves according to the tribes of Israel.22You are to allot it as an inheritance for yourselves and for the foreigners residing among you and who have children. You are to consider them as native-born Israelites; along with you they are to be allotted an inheritance among the tribes of Israel.23In whatever tribe a foreigner resides, there you are to give them their inheritance,’ declares the Sovereign Lord.

Alle Monate werden sie neue Früchte bringen; denn ihr Wasser fließt aus dem Heiligtum. Ihre Früchte werden als Speise dienen und ihre Blätter als Heilmittel. (Ps 1:3; Jer 17:8; Eze 47:7; Re 22:2)
Die Grenzen des Landes
13So spricht GOTT, der Herr: Das ist die Grenze, innerhalb derer ihr den zwölf Stämmen Israels das Land zum Erbe austeilen sollt; Joseph gehören zwei Lose. (Ge 15:18; Ge 48:5; Jos 13:29; Jos 16:1; Jos 16:5; Jos 17:1; 1Ki 5:1; Eze 47:15; Eze 47:17; Eze 47:20; Eze 47:21; Eze 48:4)14Und zwar sollt ihr es, einer wie der andere, zum Erbbesitz erhalten, da ich meine Hand [zum Schwur] erhoben habe, es euren Vätern zu geben; und dieses Land soll euch als Erbbesitz zufallen. (Ge 15:18; Ge 17:8; Ex 6:8; Eze 20:5)15Das ist aber die Grenze des Landes: auf der Nordseite vom großen Meer an, wo man von Hetlon nach Zedad geht, (Nu 34:8; Eze 48:1)16Hamat, Berota, Sibraim, das zwischen dem Gebiet von Damaskus und dem Gebiet von Hamat liegt, bis Hazar-Tichon, das an der Grenze des Hauran liegt. (Nu 34:8; 2Sa 8:8)17Und die Grenze vom Meer soll nach Hazar-Enon verlaufen, im Gebiet von Damaskus; und was den Norden betrifft, nordwärts soll Hamat die Grenze sein. Das ist die Nordseite. (Nu 34:9; Eze 48:1)18Was aber die Ostseite betrifft, so soll sie von Hauran nach Damaskus und Gilead bis zum Land Israel am Jordan verlaufen. Von der [Nord]grenze sollt ihr [so] bis zum östlichen Meer[2] messen. Das ist die Ostseite. (2Ki 10:33; Joe 2:20; Zec 14:8)19Aber die Südseite gegen Mittag geht von Tamar bis an das Haderwasser von Kadesch, durch den Bach [Ägyptens][3] bis zum großen Meer. Das ist die Mittagsseite nach Süden. (Ge 14:7; Nu 20:1; Nu 20:13; De 32:51; 2Ch 20:2; Eze 48:28)20Und die Westseite bildet das große Meer, von der [Süd-]Grenze an bis man nach Lebo-Hamat kommt. Das ist die Westseite. (Nu 13:21; Nu 34:6; Eze 48:1)21Dieses Land sollt ihr unter euch verteilen nach den Stämmen Israels. (Eze 47:13)22Ihr sollt es aber als Erbbesitz verlosen unter euch und unter die Fremdlinge, die unter euch wohnen und unter euch Kinder gezeugt haben. Und sie sollen euch gelten wie Eingeborene unter den Kindern Israels. Sie sollen mit euch unter den Stämmen Israels ihren Erbbesitz erhalten. Und wenn es ins Meer fließt, soll dessen Wasser gesund werden,9und alles, was darin lebt und webt, wohin der Strom kommt, das soll leben. Und es soll sehr viele Fische dort geben, wenn dieses Wasser dorthin kommt; und alles soll gesund werden und leben, wohin dieser Strom kommt.10Und es werden an ihm die Fischer stehen. Von En-Gedi bis nach En-Eglajim wird man die Netze zum Trocknen aufspannen; denn es wird dort sehr viele Fische von aller Art geben wie im großen Meer.11Aber die Teiche und Lachen daneben werden nicht gesund werden, sondern man soll daraus Salz gewinnen.12Und an dem Strom werden an seinem Ufer auf beiden Seiten allerlei fruchtbare Bäume wachsen; und ihre Blätter werden nicht verwelken und mit ihren Früchten hat es kein Ende. Die Grenzen des Landes
13So spricht Gott der HERR: Dies sind die Grenzen, nach denen ihr das Land den zwölf Stämmen Israels austeilen sollt; zwei Teile gehören dem Stamm Josef. (Ge 48:5; Jos 17:17)14Und ihr sollt es als Erbteil bekommen, einer wie der andere; denn ich habe meine Hand aufgehoben zum Schwur, dies Land euren Vätern zu geben, und so soll es euch als Erbteil zufallen. (Ex 6:8)15Dies ist nun die Grenze des Landes gegen Norden: von dem großen Meer an auf Hetlon zu nach Zedad, (Nu 34:2)16Hamat, Berota, Sibrajim, das an Damaskus und Hamat grenzt, und Hazar-Enan, das an den Hauran grenzt.17Und so soll die Grenze laufen vom Meer an bis nach Hazar-Enan, und Damaskus und Hamat sollen nördlich liegen bleiben. Das sei die Grenze gegen Norden.18Aber die Grenze gegen Osten: von Hazar-Enan, das zwischen dem Hauran und Damaskus liegt, der Jordan zwischen Gilead und dem Lande Israel bis hinab ans östliche Meer nach Tamar. Das soll die Grenze gegen Osten sein.19Aber die Grenze gegen Süden läuft von Tamar bis an das Haderwasser von Kadesch und den Bach Ägyptens hinab bis an das große Meer. Das soll die Grenze gegen Süden sein. (Nu 20:13; Nu 34:5)20Und an der Seite gegen Westen ist das große Meer die Grenze bis dahin, wo es nach Hamat geht. Das sei die Grenze gegen Westen.
Verteilung des Landes im Norden
21Und ihr sollt dies Land austeilen unter die Stämme Israels,22und wenn ihr das Los werft, um das Land unter euch zu teilen, so sollt ihr die Fremdlinge, die bei euch wohnen und Kinder unter euch zeugen, halten wie die Einheimischen unter den Israeliten; mit euch sollen sie ihren Erbbesitz erhalten unter den Stämmen Israels, (Le 19:33)23und ihr sollt auch ihnen ihren Anteil am Lande geben, jedem bei dem Stamm, bei dem er wohnt, spricht Gott der HERR.
