Psalm 82

New International Version

from Biblica

A psalm of Asaph.

1 God presides in the great assembly; he renders judgment among the ‘gods’: 

2 ‘How long will you defend the unjust and show partiality to the wicked? 

3 Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed. 

4 Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked. 

5 ‘The “gods” know nothing, they understand nothing. They walk about in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken. 

6 ‘I said, “You are ‘gods’; you are all sons of the Most High.” 

7 But you will die like mere mortals; you will fall like every other ruler.’ 

8 Rise up, O God, judge the earth, for all the nations are your inheritance.

King James Version

1 A Psalm of Asaph. God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods. 

2 How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah. 

3 Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy. 

4 Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked. 

5 They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course. 

6 I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High. 

7 But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes. 

8 Arise, O God, judge the earth: for thou shalt inherit all nations.

1 Ein Psalm. Von Asaf. Gott steht in der Gottesversammlung, inmitten der Götter richtet er. (Ps 50:1; Ps 58:2) 

2 Bis wann wollt ihr ungerecht richten und die Gottlosen begünstigen? // (Le 19:15; De 1:17; Pr 18:5) 

3 Schafft Recht dem Geringen und der Waise, dem Elenden und dem Bedürftigen lasst Gerechtigkeit widerfahren! (Isa 1:17) 

4 Rettet den Geringen und den Armen, entreißt ihn der Hand der Gottlosen! (Jer 22:3) 

5 Sie erkennen nichts und verstehen nichts, im Dunkeln laufen sie umher. Es wanken alle Grundfesten der Erde. (Job 8:9; Ps 99:1; Pr 4:19) 

6 Ich sagte ⟨zwar⟩: Ihr seid Götter, Söhne des Höchsten seid ihr alle! (Joh 10:34; Ac 17:28) 

7 Doch wie ein Mensch werdet ihr sterben, wie einer der Obersten werdet ihr fallen. 

8 Stehe auf, Gott, richte die Erde! Denn du sollst zum Erbteil haben alle Nationen. (Ps 2:8; Ps 76:10; Ps 94:2)
