1‘Listen to this, you descendants of Jacob, you who are called by the name of Israel and come from the line of Judah, you who take oaths in the name of the Lord and invoke the God of Israel – but not in truth or righteousness –2you who call yourselves citizens of the holy city and claim to rely on the God of Israel – the Lord Almighty is his name:3I foretold the former things long ago, my mouth announced them and I made them known; then suddenly I acted, and they came to pass.4For I knew how stubborn you were; your neck muscles were iron, your forehead was bronze.5Therefore I told you these things long ago; before they happened I announced them to you so that you could not say, “My images brought them about; my wooden image and metal god ordained them.”6You have heard these things; look at them all. Will you not admit them? ‘From now on I will tell you of new things, of hidden things unknown to you.7They are created now, and not long ago; you have not heard of them before today. So you cannot say, “Yes, I knew of them.”8You have neither heard nor understood; from of old your ears have not been open. Well do I know how treacherous you are; you were called a rebel from birth.9For my own name’s sake I delay my wrath; for the sake of my praise I hold it back from you, so as not to destroy you completely.10See, I have refined you, though not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction.11For my own sake, for my own sake, I do this. How can I let myself be defamed? I will not yield my glory to another.

12‘Listen to me, Jacob, Israel, whom I have called: I am he; I am the first and I am the last.13My own hand laid the foundations of the earth, and my right hand spread out the heavens; when I summon them, they all stand up together.14‘Come together, all of you, and listen: which of the idols has foretold these things? The Lord’s chosen ally will carry out his purpose against Babylon; his arm will be against the Babylonians.[1]15I, even I, have spoken; yes, I have called him. I will bring him, and he will succeed in his mission.16‘Come near me and listen to this: ‘From the first announcement I have not spoken in secret; at the time it happens, I am there.’ And now the Sovereign Lord has sent me, endowed with his Spirit.17This is what the Lord says – your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: ‘I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.18If only you had paid attention to my commands, your peace would have been like a river, your well-being like the waves of the sea.19Your descendants would have been like the sand, your children like its numberless grains; their name would never be blotted out nor destroyed from before me.’20Leave Babylon, flee from the Babylonians! Announce this with shouts of joy and proclaim it. Send it out to the ends of the earth; say, ‘The Lord has redeemed his servant Jacob.’21They did not thirst when he led them through the deserts; he made water flow for them from the rock; he split the rock and water gushed out.22‘There is no peace,’ says the Lord, ‘for the wicked.’
1Hört, ihr Leute vom Volk Jakobs, ihr Nachkommen Judas! Ihr tragt den Ehrennamen Israel, ihr schwört beim Namen des HERRN, ihr bekennt euch zum Gott Israels – aber rechnet ihr vielleicht ernsthaft mit ihm? (Ge 32:29; Ge 49:1; Ge 49:8; Isa 65:9)2Gewiss, ihr habt euch die Bewohner der Heiligen Stadt genannt und im Gott Israels euren Helfer gesehen, und das ist er auch; sein Name ist: »der HERR, der Herrscher der Welt«.[1] Hört also, was er euch sagt: (Jer 7:4)3»Von jeher hatte ich euch angekündigt, was geschehen würde; den Propheten hatte ich mein Wort in den Mund gelegt und ihr konntet es hören. Dann habe ich ganz plötzlich gehandelt und alles traf ein. (Isa 41:21)4Ich wusste, dass ihr starrsinnig seid; euer Nacken ist unbeugsam wie Eisen und eure Stirn so hart wie Stahl. (De 31:27; Eze 3:7)5Deshalb habe ich euch das alles im Voraus angekündigt, damit ihr nicht sagen könnt: ›Das hat mein Götze getan; mein Götzenbild aus Holz und Metall hat das angeordnet.‹6Ihr habt alles gehört und ihr seht: Es ist eingetroffen. Wollt ihr das nicht zugeben und öffentlich verkünden? Aber von jetzt an kündige ich etwas Neues an; bisher war es verborgen und ihr habt nichts davon gewusst. (Isa 43:19)7Es war nicht schon immer da, eben erst habe ich es geschaffen und in Gang gesetzt. Bis zum heutigen Tag habt ihr nichts davon gehört – sonst würdet ihr sagen: ›Wir haben es ja schon lange gewusst!‹8Nein, ihr habt nichts davon gewusst, ihr habt nie etwas davon zu hören bekommen. Ich kannte euch doch und wusste: Ihr seid durch und durch treulos. Man nennt euch nicht umsonst ›Rebell vom Mutterleib an‹. (Isa 48:4)9Aber weil ich mich mit euch verbunden habe und die Ehre meines Namens auf dem Spiel steht, bezwinge ich meinen Zorn und vernichte euch nicht.10Im Schmelzofen des Leidens habe ich euch geprüft, aber es kam kein Silber dabei heraus! (Pr 17:3; Isa 1:25; Jer 9:6; Zec 13:9; Mal 3:2; 1Pe 1:7)11Nicht euretwegen, sondern einzig und allein meinetwegen schaffe ich euch Rettung. Soll ich mich noch länger von den Völkern verhöhnen lassen? Meine Ehre lasse ich mir von niemand nehmen!« (Ps 115:1; Isa 42:8; Isa 43:25; Isa 48:9; Eze 36:20)
Gott hat den Perserkönig beauftragt
12Der HERR sagt: »Höre, Israel, du Volk der Nachkommen Jakobs, das ich in meinen Dienst gestellt habe! Ich bin der eine und einzige Gott, der Erste und auch der Letzte. (Isa 44:6)13Ich habe die Erde auf festen Grund gestellt, ich habe den Himmel ausgespannt; nur ein Wort von mir und sie standen da. (Ps 33:9)14Kommt alle herbei, ihr Leute von Israel, und hört! Wer außer mir hat angekündigt, was jetzt geschieht? Der Mann, den ich liebe, vollstreckt meinen Willen an Babylon und lässt die Chaldäer meine Macht spüren. (Isa 45:1)15Ich allein habe es vorhergesagt, ich habe ihn auch gerufen. Ich habe ihn hergeholt und lasse sein Vorhaben gelingen.16Kommt her zu mir, hört, was ich euch sage! Von Anfang an habe ich dies öffentlich angekündigt, und seit es in Gang gekommen ist, habe ich meine Hand im Spiel.« Und jetzt hat der HERR, der mächtige Gott, mich beauftragt und mir seinen Geist gegeben.[2] (Isa 45:19)
Steht eurem Glück nicht im Weg!
17Der HERR, der heilige Gott Israels, euer Befreier, sagt: »Ich, der HERR, euer Gott, sage euch, was ihr tun und wie ihr leben sollt. Meine Weisungen dienen zu eurem Besten. (Isa 41:14)18Hättet ihr doch auf meine Gebote geachtet! Dann würdet ihr jetzt Frieden haben und es würde euch an nichts fehlen; euer Wohlstand würde anschwellen wie ein Strom, er würde sich ausbreiten wie die Wogen des Meeres. (De 5:29)19Eure Nachkommen würden so unzählbar sein wie der Sand und ich würde mich niemals von ihnen abwenden und sie dem Untergang preisgeben!« (Ge 22:17)
Vorblick auf den Auszug des Volkes Israel aus Babylonien
20Brecht auf aus Babylon! Verlasst das Land der Chaldäer, so schnell ihr könnt! Freut euch und jubelt, macht überall bis ans Ende der Erde bekannt: »Der HERR hat sein Volk, die Nachkommen Jakobs, befreit!« (Isa 40:10; Isa 52:11; Jer 51:45)21Er führt sie durch Wüsten, aber sie leiden keinen Durst; denn er gibt ihnen zu trinken: Er spaltet Felsen und es strömt Wasser heraus. (Ex 17:6; Isa 41:17)22»Wer sich gegen mich auflehnt«, sagt der HERR, »findet keinen Frieden, sondern stürzt sich ins Unglück.« (Isa 57:21)
