1Bel bows down, Nebo stoops low; their idols are borne by beasts of burden.[1] The images that are carried about are burdensome, a burden for the weary.2They stoop and bow down together; unable to rescue the burden, they themselves go off into captivity.3‘Listen to me, you descendants of Jacob, all the remnant of the people of Israel, you whom I have upheld since your birth, and have carried since you were born.4Even to your old age and grey hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.5‘With whom will you compare me or count me equal? To whom will you liken me that we may be compared?6Some pour out gold from their bags and weigh out silver on the scales; they hire a goldsmith to make it into a god, and they bow down and worship it.7They lift it to their shoulders and carry it; they set it up in its place, and there it stands. From that spot it cannot move. Even though someone cries out to it, it cannot answer; it cannot save them from their troubles.8‘Remember this, keep it in mind, take it to heart, you rebels.9Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me.10I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, “My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.”11From the east I summon a bird of prey; from a far-off land, a man to fulfil my purpose. What I have said, that I will bring about; what I have planned, that I will do.12Listen to me, you stubborn-hearted, you who are now far from my righteousness.13I am bringing my righteousness near, it is not far away; and my salvation will not be delayed. I will grant salvation to Zion, my splendour to Israel.
1Gott Bel geht in die Knie, Gott Nebo sinkt um;[1] ihre Bilder werden weggeschleppt auf dem Rücken des Lastviehs. Ihr Leute von Babylon,[2] eure Götter sind aufgeladen, das Vieh schleppt sich müde daran! (Isa 21:9; Jer 50:2)2Die Götter sind umgesunken, sind in die Knie gegangen; sie können die eigene Last nicht retten, müssen selber in die Gefangenschaft!3»Hört, Volk Israel, der ganze Rest, der von den Nachkommen Jakobs übrig geblieben ist«, sagt der HERR. »Ich habe euch getragen, seit es euch gibt; ihr seid mir aufgeladen, seit ihr aus dem Mutterleib kamt. (De 1:31; Ps 71:17; Ho 11:3)4Und ich bleibe derselbe in alle Zukunft! Bis ihr alt und grau werdet, bin ich es, der euch schleppt. Ich habe es bisher getan und ich werde es auch künftig tun. Ich bin es, der euch trägt und schleppt und rettet!5Mit wem wollt ihr mich vergleichen? Gibt es irgendjemand, den ihr mit mir auf eine Stufe stellen könnt? (Isa 40:18; Isa 44:9)6Da schütten sie Gold und Silber aus ihrem Beutel, sie wiegen es ab und beauftragen den Goldschmied, dass er ihnen einen Gott daraus macht. Vor dem werfen sie sich nieder,7sie heben ihn auf ihre Schultern, sie tragen ihn feierlich umher, sie setzen ihn wieder auf seinen Platz – und da steht er dann und rührt sich nicht. Wenn jemand um Hilfe zu ihm ruft, antwortet er nicht; er rettet keinen aus der Not.8Macht euch das einmal klar und nehmt es euch zu Herzen! Kommt endlich zur Besinnung!«
Die Hilfe ist nahe
9»Denkt an das, was ich früher getan habe!«, sagt der HERR. »Ich allein bin Gott und sonst keiner, niemand ist mir gleich. (Isa 43:16; Isa 44:6)10Ich kündige an, was geschehen wird, lange bevor es eintrifft. Und das sage ich euch: Wenn ich etwas plane, dann wird es auch ausgeführt. Alles, was ich mir vornehme, das tue ich auch. (Ps 115:3; Isa 41:21)11Ich rufe jetzt den Adler aus dem Osten, den Mann aus fernem Land, der meinen Plan ausführen wird. Ich habe es angekündigt und es wird eintreffen; es ist schon im Gang, ich führe es herbei. (Isa 45:1)12Hört her, ihr Starrsinnigen! Ihr habt alle Hoffnung aufgegeben, weil ihr weit und breit keine Hilfe seht. (Isa 40:27)13Aber von mir kommt eure Rettung, sie ist ganz nahe; meine Hilfe lässt nicht auf sich warten. Auf dem Zionsberg gebe ich euch einen neuen Anfang und Israel mache ich zu meinem Schmuckstück!«
