1Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance.2So she came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and said, ‘They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put him!’3So Peter and the other disciple started for the tomb.4Both were running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first.5He bent over and looked in at the strips of linen lying there but did not go in.6Then Simon Peter came along behind him and went straight into the tomb. He saw the strips of linen lying there,7as well as the cloth that had been wrapped round Jesus’ head. The cloth was still lying in its place, separate from the linen.8Finally the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went inside. He saw and believed.9(They still did not understand from Scripture that Jesus had to rise from the dead.)10Then the disciples went back to where they were staying.

11Now Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb12and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus’ body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot.13They asked her, ‘Woman, why are you crying?’ ‘They have taken my Lord away,’ she said, ‘and I don’t know where they have put him.’14At this, she turned round and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realise that it was Jesus.15He asked her, ‘Woman, why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?’ Thinking he was the gardener, she said, ‘Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him.’16Jesus said to her, ‘Mary.’ She turned towards him and cried out in Aramaic, ‘Rabboni!’ (which means ‘Teacher’).17Jesus said, ‘Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, “I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.” ’18Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: ‘I have seen the Lord!’ And she told them that he had said these things to her.

19On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, ‘Peace be with you!’20After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.21Again Jesus said, ‘Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.’22And with that he breathed on them and said, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit.23If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.’

24Now Thomas (also known as Didymus[1]), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came.25So the other disciples told him, ‘We have seen the Lord!’ But he said to them, ‘Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.’26A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, ‘Peace be with you!’27Then he said to Thomas, ‘Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.’28Thomas said to him, ‘My Lord and my God!’29Then Jesus told him, ‘Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.’
The purpose of John’s gospel
30Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book.31But these are written that you may believe[2] that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

Er sah die Leinenbinden (Joh 11:44; Joh 19:40)7und das Tuch, mit dem sie Jesus das Gesicht bedeckt hatten. Dieses Tuch lag nicht bei den Binden, sondern war getrennt davon zusammengelegt.8Nun ging auch der andere Jünger hinein, der zuerst am Grab angekommen war. Er sah alles und kam zum Glauben.9Denn sie hatten die Heiligen Schriften noch nicht verstanden, in denen doch steht, dass Jesus vom Tod auferstehen muss. (1Co 15:4)10Danach gingen die beiden Jünger nach Hause zurück.

11Maria stand noch draußen vor dem Grab und weinte. Dabei beugte sie sich vor und schaute hinein. (Mt 28:9; Mr 16:9)12Da sah sie zwei weiß gekleidete Engel. Sie saßen an der Stelle, wo Jesus gelegen hatte, einer am Kopfende und einer am Fußende.13»Frau, warum weinst du?«, fragten die Engel. Maria antwortete: »Sie haben meinen Herrn fortgetragen und ich weiß nicht, wo sie ihn hingelegt haben!«14Als sie sich umdrehte, sah sie Jesus dastehen. Aber sie wusste nicht, dass es Jesus war. (Lu 24:16; Joh 21:4)15Er fragte sie: »Frau, warum weinst du? Wen suchst du?« Sie dachte, er sei der Gärtner, und sagte zu ihm: »Herr, wenn du ihn fortgenommen hast, dann sag mir, wo du ihn hingelegt hast. Ich will hingehen und ihn holen.«16»Maria!«, sagte Jesus zu ihr. Sie wandte sich ihm zu und sagte: »Rabbuni!« Das ist Hebräisch und heißt: Mein Lehrer!17Jesus sagte zu ihr: »Halte mich nicht fest![2] Ich bin noch nicht zum Vater zurückgekehrt. Aber geh zu meinen Brüdern[3] und sag ihnen von mir: ›Ich kehre zurück zu meinem Vater und eurem Vater, zu meinem Gott und eurem Gott.‹« (Ro 8:29; Heb 2:11)18Maria aus Magdala ging zu den Jüngern und verkündete: »Ich habe den Herrn gesehen!« Und sie richtete ihnen aus, was er ihr aufgetragen hatte.
Jesus zeigt sich seinen Jüngern
19Es war Abend geworden an jenem Sonntag. Die Jünger waren beisammen und hatten aus Angst vor den führenden Juden[4] die Türen abgeschlossen. Da kam Jesus, trat in ihre Mitte und sagte: »Frieden sei mit euch!« (Mr 16:14; Lu 24:36; Joh 9:22; Joh 14:27)20Dann zeigte er ihnen seine Hände und seine Seite. Als die Jünger den Herrn sahen, kam große Freude über sie. (Joh 15:11)21Noch einmal sagte Jesus zu ihnen: »Frieden sei mit euch! Wie der Vater mich gesandt hat, so sende ich nun euch.« (Joh 17:18)22Dann hauchte er sie an und sagte: »Empfangt den Heiligen Geist! (Joh 14:16)23Wenn ihr jemand die Vergebung seiner Schuld zusprecht, ist die Schuld auch von Gott vergeben. Wenn ihr die Vergebung verweigert, bleibt die Schuld bestehen.« (Mt 16:19)

24Als Jesus kam, war Thomas, genannt der Zwilling, einer aus dem Kreis der Zwölf, nicht dabei gewesen. (Joh 11:16; Joh 14:5; Joh 20:26; Joh 21:2)25Die anderen Jünger erzählten ihm: »Wir haben den Herrn gesehen!« Thomas sagte zu ihnen: »Niemals werde ich das glauben! Da müsste ich erst die Spuren von den Nägeln an seinen Händen sehen und sie mit meinem Finger fühlen und meine Hand in seine Seitenwunde legen – sonst nicht!«26Eine Woche später waren die Jünger wieder im Haus versammelt und Thomas war bei ihnen. Die Türen waren abgeschlossen. Jesus kam, trat in ihre Mitte und sagte: »Frieden sei mit euch!«27Dann wandte er sich an Thomas und sagte: »Leg deinen Finger hierher und sieh dir meine Hände an! Streck deine Hand aus und lege sie in meine Seitenwunde! Hör auf zu zweifeln und glaube!«28Da antwortete Thomas: »Mein Herr und mein Gott!«29Jesus sagte zu ihm: »Du glaubst, weil du mich gesehen hast. Freuen dürfen sich alle, die mich nicht sehen und trotzdem glauben!« (1Pe 1:8)
Der Zweck dieses Buches
30Jesus tat vor den Augen seiner Jünger noch viele andere Wunderzeichen, die nicht in diesem Buch stehen. (Joh 1:14; Joh 2:11)31Was aber in diesem Buch steht, wurde aufgeschrieben, damit ihr festbleibt in dem Glauben,[5] dass Jesus der versprochene Retter[6] ist, der Sohn Gottes. Wenn ihr das tut,[7] habt ihr durch ihn das Leben. (Joh 1:34; Joh 3:15; 1Jo 5:13)

La risurrezione di Gesù
1Il primo giorno della settimana, la mattina presto, mentre era ancora buio, Maria Maddalena andò al sepolcro e vide la pietra tolta dal sepolcro.2Allora corse verso Simon Pietro e l’altro discepolo che Gesù amava, e disse loro: «Hanno tolto il Signore dal sepolcro e non sappiamo dove l’abbiano messo».3Pietro e l’altro discepolo uscirono dunque e si avviarono al sepolcro.4I due correvano assieme, ma l’altro discepolo corse più veloce di Pietro e giunse primo al sepolcro;5e, chinatosi, vide le fasce per terra, ma non entrò.6Giunse intanto anche Simon Pietro, che lo seguiva, ed entrò nel sepolcro, e vide le fasce per terra7e il sudario, che era stato sul capo di Gesù, non per terra con le fasce, ma piegato in un luogo a parte.8Allora entrò anche l’altro discepolo che era giunto per primo al sepolcro, e vide, e credette.9Perché non avevano ancora capito la Scrittura, secondo la quale egli doveva risuscitare dai morti.10I discepoli dunque se ne tornarono a casa.

11Maria, invece, se ne stava fuori vicino al sepolcro a piangere. Mentre piangeva, si chinò a guardare dentro il sepolcro,12ed ecco, vide due angeli, vestiti di bianco, seduti uno al capo e l’altro ai piedi, lì dov’era stato il corpo di Gesù.13Ed essi le dissero: «Donna, perché piangi?» Ella rispose loro: «Perché hanno tolto il mio Signore e non so dove l’abbiano deposto».14Detto questo, si voltò indietro e vide Gesù in piedi; ma non sapeva che fosse Gesù.15Gesù le disse: «Donna, perché piangi? Chi cerchi?» Ella, pensando che fosse il giardiniere, gli disse: «Signore, se tu l’hai portato via, dimmi dove l’hai deposto, e io lo prenderò».16Gesù le disse: «Maria!» Ella, voltatasi, gli disse in ebraico: «Rabbunì!», che vuol dire: «Maestro!»17Gesù le disse: «Non trattenermi, perché non sono ancora salito al Padre; ma va’ dai miei fratelli e di’ loro: “Io salgo al Padre mio e Padre vostro, al Dio mio e Dio vostro”».18Maria Maddalena andò ad annunciare ai discepoli che aveva visto il Signore e che egli le aveva detto queste cose.

19La sera di quello stesso giorno, che era il primo della settimana, mentre le porte del luogo in cui si trovavano i discepoli erano chiuse per timore dei Giudei, Gesù venne e si presentò in mezzo a loro, e disse: «Pace a voi!»20E detto questo mostrò loro le mani e il costato. I discepoli dunque, veduto il Signore, si rallegrarono.21Allora {Gesù} disse loro di nuovo: «Pace a voi! Come il Padre mi ha mandato, anch’io mando voi».22Detto questo, soffiò su di loro e disse: «Ricevete lo Spirito Santo.23A chi perdonerete i peccati, saranno perdonati; a chi li riterrete, saranno ritenuti».

24Ora Tommaso, detto Didimo, uno dei dodici, non era con loro quando venne Gesù.25Gli altri discepoli dunque gli dissero: «Abbiamo visto il Signore!» Ma egli disse loro: «Se non vedo nelle sue mani il segno dei chiodi e se non metto il mio dito nel segno dei chiodi, e se non metto la mia mano nel suo costato, io non crederò».26Otto giorni dopo i suoi discepoli erano di nuovo in casa, e Tommaso era con loro. Gesù venne a porte chiuse, e si presentò in mezzo a loro e disse: «Pace a voi!»27Poi disse a Tommaso: «Porgi qua il dito e guarda le mie mani; porgi la mano e mettila nel mio costato; e non essere incredulo, ma credente».28Tommaso gli rispose: «Signore mio e Dio mio!»29Gesù gli disse: «Perché mi hai visto, tu hai creduto; beati quelli che non hanno visto e hanno creduto!»
Lo scopo del Vangelo secondo Giovanni
30Ora Gesù fece in presenza dei {suoi} discepoli molti altri segni miracolosi, che non sono scritti in questo libro;31ma questi sono stati scritti affinché crediate che Gesù è il Cristo, il Figlio di Dio, e affinché, credendo, abbiate vita nel suo nome.
