Psalm 87

New International Version

1 He has founded his city on the holy mountain.2 The Lord loves the gates of Zion more than all the other dwellings of Jacob.3 Glorious things are said of you, city of God:[1]4 ‘I will record Rahab[2] and Babylon among those who acknowledge me – Philistia too, and Tyre, along with Cush[3] – and will say, “This one was born in Zion.” ’[4]5 Indeed, of Zion it will be said, ‘This one and that one were born in her, and the Most High himself will establish her.’6 The Lord will write in the register of the peoples: ‘This one was born in Zion.’7 As they make music they will sing, ‘All my fountains are in you.’

Psalm 87

English Standard Version

1 A Psalm of the Sons of Korah. A Song. On the holy mount stands the city he founded; (Ps 42:1; Ps 48:1; Isa 28:16)2 the Lord loves the gates of Zion more than all the dwelling places of Jacob. (Ps 78:67)3 Glorious things of you are spoken, O city of God. (Ps 46:4; Isa 54:1; Isa 60:1)4 Among those who know me I mention Rahab and Babylon; behold, Philistia and Tyre, with Cush[1]— “This one was born there,” they say. (Job 9:13; Ps 36:10; Ps 68:31; Isa 19:22; Joh 10:14)5 And of Zion it shall be said, “This one and that one were born in her”; for the Most High himself will establish her. (Ps 48:8)6 The Lord records as he registers the peoples, “This one was born there.” (Ps 69:28)7 Singers and dancers alike say, “All my springs are in you.” (2Sa 6:14; Ps 36:9; Ps 68:25; Isa 12:3; Re 21:6)
