Psalm 13

New International Version

1 How long, Lord? Will you forget me for ever? How long will you hide your face from me?2 How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and day after day have sorrow in my heart? How long will my enemy triumph over me?3 Look on me and answer, Lord my God. Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death,4 and my enemy will say, ‘I have overcome him,’ and my foes will rejoice when I fall.5 But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation.6 I will sing the Lord’s praise, for he has been good to me.

Psalm 13

English Standard Version

1 To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? (Job 13:24; Ps 10:12; Ps 44:24; Ps 74:19; Ps 74:23; Ps 79:5; Ps 89:46; La 5:20; Re 6:10)2 How long must I take counsel in my soul and have sorrow in my heart all the day? How long shall my enemy be exalted over me? (Ps 77:6)3 Consider and answer me, O Lord my God; light up my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death, (1Sa 14:27; Ezr 9:8; Ps 5:1; Ps 19:8; Ps 119:153; Pr 29:13; Jer 51:39; Eph 1:18)4 lest my enemy say, “I have prevailed over him,” lest my foes rejoice because I am shaken. (De 32:27; Ps 10:6)5 But I have trusted in your steadfast love; my heart shall rejoice in your salvation. (Ps 9:14; Ps 11:1)6 I will sing to the Lord, because he has dealt bountifully with me.
