Job 25

New International Version

from Biblica
1 Then Bildad the Shuhite replied:2 ‘Dominion and awe belong to God; he establishes order in the heights of heaven.3 Can his forces be numbered? On whom does his light not rise?4 How then can a mortal be righteous before God? How can one born of woman be pure?5 If even the moon is not bright and the stars are not pure in his eyes,6 how much less a mortal, who is but a maggot – a human being, who is only a worm!’

Job 25

1 Then Bildad the Shuhite answered and said: (Job 2:11)2 “Dominion and fear are with God;[1] he makes peace in his high heaven.3 Is there any number to his armies? Upon whom does his light not arise? (Job 19:12; Ps 103:21; Mt 5:45; Jas 1:17)4 How then can man be in the right before God? How can he who is born of woman be pure? (Job 4:17; Job 9:2; Job 14:1; Job 14:4; Job 15:14; Ps 130:3; Ps 143:2)5 Behold, even the moon is not bright, and the stars are not pure in his eyes;6 how much less man, who is a maggot, and the son of man, who is a worm!” (Job 9:14; Job 15:16; Job 35:8; Ps 22:6; Isa 41:14)
