Psalm 8

New International Reader’s Version

from Biblica
1 LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in the whole earth! You have set your glory in the heavens.2 You have made sure that children and infants praise you. Their praise is a wall that stops the talk of your enemies.3 I think about the heavens. I think about what your fingers have created. I think about the moon and stars that you have set in place.4 What are human beings that you think about them? What is a son of man that you take care of him?5 You have made them a little lower than the angels. You placed on them a crown of glory and honour.6 You made human beings rule over everything your hands created. You put everything under their control.7 They rule over all flocks and herds and over the wild animals.8 They rule over the birds in the sky and over the fish in the ocean. They rule over everything that swims in the oceans.9 LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in the whole earth!

Psalm 8

New International Version

from Biblica
1 Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory in the heavens.[1]2 Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.3 When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,4 what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?[2]5 You have made them[3] a little lower than the angels[4] and crowned them[5] with glory and honour.6 You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their[6] feet:7 all flocks and herds, and the animals of the wild,8 the birds in the sky, and the fish in the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas.9 Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

Psalm 8

English Standard Version

from Crossway
1 To the choirmaster: according to The Gittith.[1] A Psalm of David. O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens. (Ex 34:5; Ps 81:1; Ps 84:1; Ps 113:4; Ps 148:13; Isa 12:4)2 Out of the mouth of babies and infants, you have established strength because of your foes, to still the enemy and the avenger. (Ps 44:16; Jer 16:19; Mt 11:25; Mt 21:16; 1Co 1:27)3 When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, (Ge 1:16; Ex 8:19; Ex 31:18; Ps 111:2)4 what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? (Ge 8:1; Ge 21:1; Ge 50:24; Job 7:17; Job 25:6; Ps 65:9; Ps 80:17; Ps 144:3; Heb 2:6)5 Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings[2] and crowned him with glory and honor. (Ge 1:26; Ps 21:5)6 You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet, (Ge 1:26; Ge 1:28; Mt 28:18; 1Co 15:27)7 all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field,8 the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas.9 O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

Psalm 8

King James Version

1 To the chief Musician upon Gittith, A Psalm of David. O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.2 Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.3 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:7 All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;8 The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.9 O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

Psalm 8

Lutherbibel 2017

from Deutsche Bibelgesellschaft
