Moses sets up the holy tent

1 Then the LORD said to Moses, 2 ‘Set up the holy tent, the tent of meeting. Set it up on the first day of the first month. 3 Place in it the ark where the tablets of the covenant law are kept. Hide the ark with the curtain. 4 Bring in the table for the holy bread. Arrange the loaves of bread on it. Then bring in the lampstand. Set up its lamps. 5 Place the gold altar for burning incense in front of the ark where the tablets of the covenant law are kept. Put up the curtain at the entrance to the holy tent. 6 ‘Place the altar for burnt offerings in front of the entrance to the holy tent, the tent of meeting. 7 Place the large bowl between the tent of meeting and the altar. Put water in the bowl. 8 Set up the courtyard around the holy tent. Put the curtain at the entrance to the courtyard. 9 ‘Get the anointing oil. Anoint the holy tent and everything in it. Set apart the holy tent and everything that belongs to it. Then it will be holy. 10 Anoint the altar for burnt offerings and all its tools. Set apart the altar. Then it will be a very holy place. 11 Anoint the large bowl and its stand. Set them apart. 12 ‘Bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance to the tent of meeting. Wash them with water. 13 Dress Aaron in the sacred clothes. Anoint him and set him apart. Then he will be able to serve me as priest. 14 Bring his sons and dress them in their inner robes. 15 Anoint them just as you anointed their father. Then they will be able to serve me as priests. They will be anointed to do the work of priests. That work will last for all time to come.’ 16 Moses did everything just as the LORD had commanded him. 17 So the holy tent was set up. It was the first day of the first month in the second year. 18 Moses set up the holy tent. He put the bases in place. He put the frames in them. He put in the crossbars. He set up the posts. 19 He spread the holy tent over the frames. Then he put the coverings over the tent. Moses did it as the LORD had commanded him. 20 He got the tablets of the covenant law. He placed them in the ark. He put the poles through its rings. And he put the cover on it. The cover was the place where sin is paid for. 21 Moses brought the ark into the holy tent. He hung the curtain to hide the ark where the tablets of the covenant law are kept. Moses did it as the LORD had commanded him. 22 Moses placed the table for the holy bread in the tent of meeting. It was on the north side of the holy tent outside the curtain. 23 He arranged the loaves of bread on it in the sight of the LORD. Moses did it as the LORD had commanded him. 24 Moses placed the lampstand in the tent of meeting. It stood opposite the table on the south side of the holy tent. 25 He set up the lamps in front of the LORD. Moses did it as the LORD had commanded him. 26 Moses placed the gold altar for burning incense in the tent of meeting. He placed it in front of the curtain. 27 He burned sweet-smelling incense on it. Moses did it as the LORD had commanded him. 28 Then Moses put up the curtain at the entrance to the holy tent. 29 He set the altar for burnt offerings near the entrance to the holy tent, the tent of meeting. He sacrificed burnt offerings and grain offerings on it. Moses did it as the LORD had commanded him. 30 Moses placed the large bowl between the tent of meeting and the altar. He put water in the bowl for washing. 31 Moses and Aaron and his sons used it to wash their hands and feet. 32 They washed whenever they entered the tent of meeting or approached the altar. They did it as the LORD had commanded Moses. 33 Then Moses set up the courtyard around the holy tent and altar. He put up the curtain at the entrance to the courtyard. And so Moses completed the work.

The glory of the Lord

34 Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting. The glory of the LORD filled the holy tent. 35 Moses couldn’t enter the tent of meeting because the cloud had settled on it. The glory of the LORD filled the holy tent. 36 The Israelites continued their travels. Whenever the cloud lifted from above the holy tent, they started out. 37 But if the cloud didn’t lift, they did not start out. They stayed until the day it lifted. 38 So the cloud of the LORD was above the holy tent during the day. Fire was in the cloud at night. All the Israelites could see the cloud during all their travels.

Aufrichtung und Einweihung der Stiftshütte

1 Und der HERR redete mit Mose und sprach: 2 Du sollst die Wohnung der Stiftshütte aufrichten am ersten Tage des ersten Monats. (Ex 12:2; Ex 17:1; Ex 19:1) 3 Und du sollst die Lade mit dem Gesetz hineinstellen und vor die Lade den Vorhang hängen; 4 und du sollst den Tisch hineinbringen und ihn herrichten und den Leuchter hineinstellen und die Lampen daraufsetzen; 5 und du sollst den goldenen Räucheraltar vor die Lade mit dem Gesetz stellen und die Decke am Eingang der Wohnung aufhängen. 6 Den Brandopferaltar aber sollst du außen vor den Eingang der Wohnung der Stiftshütte setzen 7 und das Becken zwischen die Stiftshütte und den Altar und Wasser hineintun 8 und den Vorhof ringsherum herstellen und die Decke in der Tür des Vorhofs aufhängen. 9 Und du sollst das Salböl nehmen und die Wohnung und alles, was darin ist, salben und sollst sie weihen mit ihrem ganzen Gerät, dass sie heilig sei. 10 Und du sollst den Brandopferaltar salben mit seinem ganzen Gerät und weihen, dass er hochheilig sei. 11 Und du sollst auch das Becken und sein Gestell salben und weihen. 12 Und du sollst Aaron und seine Söhne vor den Eingang der Stiftshütte treten lassen und sie mit Wasser waschen 13 und Aaron die heiligen Kleider anziehen und ihn salben und weihen, dass er mein Priester sei; 14 und du sollst seine Söhne auch herzuführen und ihnen die Untergewänder anziehen 15 und sie salben, wie du ihren Vater gesalbt hast, dass sie meine Priester seien. Und diese Salbung sollen sie haben zum ewigen Priestertum bei ihren Nachkommen. 16 Und Mose tat alles, wie ihm der HERR geboten hatte. 17 Also wurde die Wohnung aufgerichtet im zweiten Jahr am ersten Tage des ersten Monats. 18 Und Mose richtete die Wohnung auf und setzte ihre Füße hin und stellte die Bretter darauf und brachte die Riegel an und richtete die Säulen auf 19 und breitete das Zelt aus über der Wohnung und legte die Decke des Zeltes oben darauf, wie der HERR ihm geboten hatte. 20 Und er nahm das Gesetz und legte es in die Lade und tat die Stangen an die Lade und setzte den Gnadenstuhl oben auf die Lade 21 und brachte die Lade in die Wohnung und hängte den Vorhang auf und verhüllte so die Lade des Gesetzes, wie ihm der HERR geboten hatte, 22 und setzte den Tisch in die Stiftshütte an die Seite der Wohnung nach Norden, außen vor dem Vorhang, 23 und bereitete den Tisch mit den Schaubroten vor dem HERRN, wie der HERR dem Mose geboten hatte, 24 und setzte den Leuchter in die Stiftshütte gegenüber dem Tisch an die Seite der Wohnung nach Süden 25 und setzte die Lampen auf vor dem HERRN, wie ihm der HERR geboten hatte. 26 Und er setzte den goldenen Altar in die Stiftshütte vor den Vorhang 27 und räucherte darauf mit wohlriechendem Räucherwerk, wie ihm der HERR geboten hatte, 28 und hängte die Decke in den Eingang der Wohnung. 29 Und den Brandopferaltar setzte er an den Eingang der Wohnung der Stiftshütte und opferte darauf Brandopfer und Speisopfer, wie ihm der HERR geboten hatte. 30 Und das Becken setzte er zwischen die Stiftshütte und den Altar und tat Wasser hinein zum Waschen. 31 Und Mose, Aaron und seine Söhne wuschen ihre Hände und Füße darin. 32 Denn sie müssen sich waschen, wenn sie in die Stiftshütte gehen oder hinzutreten zum Altar, wie der HERR es Mose geboten hatte. 33 Und er richtete den Vorhof auf rings um die Wohnung und um den Altar und hängte die Decke in das Tor des Vorhofs. Also vollendete Mose das ganze Werk.

Die Herrlichkeit des Herrn nimmt Wohnung im Heiligtum

34 Da bedeckte die Wolke die Stiftshütte, und die Herrlichkeit des HERRN erfüllte die Wohnung. (Ex 24:16; Ex 25:8; Ex 29:43; Eze 43:1)

35 Und Mose konnte nicht in die Stiftshütte hineingehen, weil die Wolke darauf ruhte und die Herrlichkeit des HERRN die Wohnung erfüllte. (Nu 7:89) 36 Und immer, wenn die Wolke sich erhob von der Wohnung, brachen die Israeliten auf, solange ihre Wanderung währte. (Ex 13:21; Nu 9:15; Nu 10:34; 1Ki 8:10; Isa 4:5)

37 Wenn sich aber die Wolke nicht erhob, so zogen sie nicht weiter bis zu dem Tag, an dem sie sich erhob. 38 Denn die Wolke des HERRN war bei Tage über der Wohnung, und bei Nacht ward sie voll Feuers vor den Augen des ganzen Hauses Israel, solange die Wanderung währte.
