People from many nations will worship at Mount Zion
1Here is a vision that Isaiah, the son of Amoz, saw about Judah and Jerusalem.2In the last days the mountain where the LORD’s temple is located will be famous. It will be the highest mountain of all. It will be raised above the hills. All the nations will go to it.3People from many nations will go there. They will say, ‘Come. Let us go up to the LORD’s mountain. Let’s go to the temple of Jacob’s God. He will teach us how we should live. Then we will live the way he wants us to.’ The law of the LORD will be taught at Zion. His message will go out from Jerusalem.4He will judge between the nations. He’ll settle problems among many of them. They will hammer their swords into ploughs. They’ll hammer their spears into pruning tools. Nations will not go to war against one another. They won’t even train to fight anymore.5People of Jacob, come. Let us live the way the LORD has taught us to.
The day of the Lord is coming
6LORD, you have deserted the people of Jacob. They are your people. The land is full of false beliefs from the east. The people practise evil magic, just as the Philistines do. They do what ungodly people do.7Their land is full of silver and gold. There is no end to their treasures. Their land is full of horses. There is no end to their chariots.8Their land is full of statues of gods. Their people bow down to what their own hands have made. They bow down to what their fingers have shaped.9So people will be brought low. Everyone will be made humble. Do not forgive them.10Go and hide in caves in the rocks, you people! Hide in holes in the ground. Hide from the terrifying presence of the LORD! Hide when he comes in glory and majesty!11Anyone who boasts will be brought low. Anyone who is proud will be made humble. The LORD alone will be honoured at that time.12The LORD who rules over all has set apart a day when he will judge. He has set it apart for all those who are proud and think they are important. He has set it apart for all those who boast about themselves. All of them will be brought low.13The LORD has set that day apart for all the cedar trees in Lebanon. They are very tall. He has set that day apart for all the oak trees in Bashan.14He has set it apart for all the towering mountains. He has set it apart for all the high hills.15He has set it apart for every high tower and every strong wall.16He has set it apart for every trading ship and every beautiful boat.17Anyone who boasts will be brought low. Anyone who is proud will be made humble. The LORD alone will be honoured at that time.18And the statues of gods will totally disappear.19People will run and hide in caves in the rocks. They will go into holes in the ground. They will run away from the terrifying presence of the LORD. They will run when he comes in glory and majesty. When he comes, he will shake the earth.20People had made some statues of gods out of silver. They had made others out of gold. Then they worshipped them. But when the LORD comes, they will throw the statues away to the moles and bats.21Those people will run and hide in caves in the rocks. They will go into holes in the cliffs. They will run away from the terrifying presence of the LORD. They will run when he comes in glory and majesty. When he comes, he will shake the earth.22Stop trusting in mere human beings, who can’t help you. They only live for a little while. What good are they?
Gottes künftige Friedensherrschaft vom Zionsberg aus
1In einer Offenbarung empfing Jesaja, der Sohn von Amoz, folgende Botschaft über Juda und Jerusalem:2Es kommt eine Zeit, da wird der Berg, auf dem der Tempel des HERRN steht, unerschütterlich fest stehen und alle anderen Berge überragen. Alle Völker strömen zu ihm hin. (Ps 96:7; Isa 18:7; Isa 25:6; Isa 45:22; Jer 3:17; Mic 4:1; Zec 2:15)3Überall werden die Leute sagen: »Kommt, wir gehen auf den Berg des HERRN, zu dem Haus, in dem der Gott Jakobs wohnt! Er soll uns lehren, was recht ist; was er sagt, wollen wir tun!« Denn vom Zionsberg in Jerusalem wird der HERR sein Wort ausgehen lassen. (Ps 76:3; Isa 11:9; Isa 24:23; Isa 31:9)4Er weist die Völker zurecht und schlichtet ihren Streit. Dann schmieden sie aus ihren Schwertern Pflugscharen und aus ihren Speerspitzen Winzermesser. Kein Volk wird mehr das andere angreifen und niemand lernt mehr das Kriegshandwerk. (Ps 46:10; Isa 9:4; Ho 2:20)5Auf, ihr Nachkommen Jakobs, lasst uns in dem Licht leben, das vom HERRN ausgeht! (Isa 60:1)
Der Tag, an dem Gott seine Macht erweist
6HERR, du hast dich von deinem Volk, den Nachkommen Jakobs, zurückgezogen. Denn ihr Land ist voll von fremden Bräuchen, überall gibt es Zauberer wie bei den Philistern; es wimmelt bei ihnen von Ausländern. (Le 19:26; Isa 3:3)7Ihr Land ist voll von Silber und Gold und unzähligen Schätzen. Es ist voll von Pferden, und die Streitwagen kann niemand zählen. (Isa 31:1)8Und ihr Land ist voll von Götzen. Seine Bewohner beten Bildwerke an, die sie mit eigenen Händen gemacht haben.9Darum müssen sich alle bücken und werden erniedrigt. Vergib ihnen nicht, HERR!10Verkriecht euch zwischen Felsen, versteckt euch in Erdlöchern, wenn der HERR Schrecken verbreitet und seine Macht und Hoheit zeigt!11Der Tag kommt, an dem es mit der Überheblichkeit der Menschen zu Ende ist und ihr Stolz gebrochen wird. Dann wird der HERR allein groß sein. (Pr 29:23; Isa 10:12; Isa 16:6; Eze 31:10; Ho 5:5; Joe 3:3; Joe 4:14; Am 5:18; Am 6:8; Mr 13:24; Ac 17:31)12Der Tag kommt, an dem der HERR, der Herrscher der Welt,[1] Gericht halten wird über alles, was groß und stolz und überheblich ist; er wird es erniedrigen.13Er wird die mächtigen Zedern auf dem Libanon und die Eichen im Baschan vernichten.14Er wird alle hohen Berge und Hügel einebnen,15jeden großen Turm und jede feste Mauer einreißen;16alle großen Schiffe, die weit über die Meere fahren,[2] und alle Prunkboote wird er zerstören.17Mit dem Hochmut der Menschen wird es aus sein und ihr Stolz wird erniedrigt. An diesem Tag wird der HERR allein groß sein18und alle falschen Götter werden verschwinden.19Die Menschen müssen sich in Felshöhlen und Erdlöchern verkriechen aus Angst vor dem HERRN und seiner Macht und Hoheit, wenn er aufsteht und die Erde in Schrecken versetzt!20An dem Tag wird jeder seine silbernen und goldenen Götterbilder, die er sich gemacht hat, den Fledermäusen und Ratten hinwerfen. (Isa 31:7)21Die Menschen werden sich in Höhlen und Felsspalten verkriechen aus Angst vor dem HERRN und seiner Macht und Hoheit, wenn er aufsteht und die Erde in Schrecken versetzt.22Zählt doch nicht auf Menschen! Sie sind nichts als ein Hauch, und mehr sind sie auch nicht wert. (Ps 39:5; Ps 56:5; Isa 31:3)
