Die Familie Esaus

1 Dies ist die Familiengeschichte von Esau, der auch Edom heißt: (1Mo 2,4) 

2 Esau hatte drei Frauen aus dem Land Kanaan geheiratet: Ada, die Tochter des Hetiters Elon, Oholibama, die Tochter Anas und Enkelin des Hiwiters Zibon, 

3 sowie Basemat, die Tochter Ismaels und Schwester Nebajots. 

4 Ada bekam einen Sohn namens Elifas, Basemat brachte Reguël zur Welt, 

5 und Oholibamas Söhne waren Jëusch, Jalam und Korach. Alle diese Söhne wurden Esau im Land Kanaan geboren. 

6 Später zog Esau in das Land Seïr, weit weg von seinem Bruder Jakob. Seine Frauen, seine Kinder und alle, die zu seinem Haus gehörten, nahm er mit; ebenso seine Viehherden und allen anderen Besitz, den er in Kanaan erworben hatte. 

7 Denn die beiden Brüder besaßen zu viele Herden, um weiter am selben Ort zu wohnen. Das Land, in dem sie sich aufhielten, bot nicht genug Weidefläche. 

8 Deshalb siedelte sich Esau, der auch Edom genannt wird, im Bergland Seïr an. 

Die Nachkommen Esaus

9 Dies ist das Verzeichnis der Nachkommen Esaus, von dem die Edomiter im Bergland Seïr abstammen: (1Mo 2,4) 

10 Von seinen Frauen Ada und Basemat hatte Esau je einen Sohn: Ada brachte Elifas zur Welt und Basemat Reguël. 

11 Die Söhne von Elifas waren Teman, Omar, Zefo, Gatam und Kenas. 

12 Timna, die Nebenfrau von Esaus Sohn Elifas, brachte außerdem noch Amalek zur Welt. Sie alle sind Nachkommen von Esaus Frau Ada. 

13 Die Söhne Reguëls waren Nahat, Serach, Schamma und Misa. Sie ´alle` sind Nachkommen von Esaus Frau Basemat. 

14 Esaus Frau Oholibama, die Tochter Anas und Enkelin Zibons, brachte die Söhne Jëusch, Jalam und Korach zur Welt. 

Die Stämme der Edomiter

15 Es folgen nun die Stämme, die sich aus Esaus Nachkommen entwickelt haben. ´Sie tragen die Namen ihrer Gründer`. Die Stammesgründer Teman, Omar, Zefo, Kenas, 

16 Korach, Gatam und Amalek sind Nachkommen von Esaus erstgeborenem Sohn Elifas. Daher gehen alle diese Stämme auf ´Esaus Frau` Ada zurück. 

17 Die Stammesgründer Nahat, Serach, Schamma und Misa sind Nachkommen von Reguël. Damit gehen diese Stämme auf ´Esaus Frau` Basemat zurück. 

18 Die Stammesgründer Jëusch, Jalam und Korach sind Nachkommen von Esaus Frau Oholibama. Damit gehen diese Stämme auf Oholibama, die Tochter Anas, zurück. 

19 Alle diese Stämme sind Nachkommen Esaus und bilden das Volk der Edomiter. 

Die Nachkommen Seïrs

20 Die ursprünglichen Bewohner des Landes Edom waren die Nachkommen des Horiters Seïr. Seïrs Söhne hießen Lotan, Schobal, Zibon, Ana, 

21 Dischon, Ezer und Dischan. Sie waren die Gründer der horitischen Stämme, die im Land Edom wohnten. 

22 Die Söhne Lotans waren Hori und Heman, Lotans Schwester hieß Timna. 

23 Schobals Söhne hießen Alwan, Manahat, Ebal, Schefi und Onam. 

24 Zibons Söhne waren Aja und Ana. Ana ist derjenige, der die warmen Quellen in der Wüste fand, als er die Esel seines Vaters Zibon hütete. 

25 Ana hatte einen Sohn namens Dischon und eine Tochter mit Namen Oholibama. 

26 Dischons Söhne hießen Hemdan, Eschban, Jitran und Keran. 

27 Ezers Söhne waren Bilhan, Saawan und Akan. 

28 Dischans Söhne hießen Uz und Aran. 

29 Die horitischen Stämme heißen also Lotan, Schobal, Zibon, Ana, 

30 Dischon, Ezer und Dischan – aufgeführt nach der Reihenfolge ihrer Gründer. Aus diesen Stämmen besteht das Volk der Horiter, das im Land Seïr wohnt. 

Die Könige der Edomiter

31 Noch bevor es in Israel einen König gab, regierten in Edom folgende Könige: 

32 Der ´erste` edomitische König war Bela, der Sohn Beors. Seine Hauptstadt hieß Dinhaba. 

33 Ihm folgten König Jobab, der Sohn Serachs, aus der Stadt Bozra 

34 und König Huscham aus dem Gebiet des Stammes Teman. 

35 Nach ihm bestieg König Hadad, der Sohn Bedads, den Thron. Hadads Hauptstadt hieß Awit. Er besiegte die Midianiter in einer Schlacht auf moabitischem Gebiet. 

36 Ihm folgten König Samla aus der Stadt Masreka, 

37 König Schaul aus der Stadt Rehobot am Fluss, 

38 König Baal-Hanan, der Sohn Achbors, 

39 und König Hadar. Hadars Hauptstadt hieß Pagu. Der Name seiner Frau war Mehetabel. Sie war eine Tochter Matreds und Enkelin Me-Sahabs. 

Eine weitere Liste edomitischer Stämme

40 Die ist eine ´weitere` Liste edomitischer Stämme, geordnet nach Stammesgründern und Wohnorten: Timna, Alwa, Jetet, 

41 Oholibama, Ela, Pinon, 

42 Kenas, Teman, Mizbar, 

43 Magdiël und Iram. Dies sind Stämme der Edomiter, gegliedert nach ihren Wohngebieten in dem Land, das sie in Besitz genommen hatten. Hier endet das Verzeichnis der Nachkommen Esaus, des edomitischen Stammvaters.

Die Nachkommen Esaus

1 Dies ist die Geschichte Esaus, das ist Edom. (1Mo 25,30; 5Mo 23,7) 

2 Esau nahm seine Frauen von den Töchtern Kanaans: Ada, die Tochter Elons, des Hetiters, und Oholibama, die Tochter der Ana, der Tochter Zibeons, des Hewiters; (1Mo 26,34) 

3 dazu Basmath, die Tochter Ismaels, Nebajoths Schwester. (1Mo 28,8) 

4 Und Ada gebar dem Esau den Eliphas. Aber Basmath gebar den Reguel. (1Chr 1,35) 

5 Oholibama gebar Jehusch und Jaelam und Korah. Das sind die Söhne Esaus, die ihm im Land Kanaan geboren wurden. 

6 Und Esau nahm seine Frauen und seine Söhne und seine Töchter und alle Seelen seines Hauses, auch seine Habe und all sein Vieh und alle Güter, die er im Land Kanaan erworben hatte, und zog von seinem Bruder Jakob weg in ein anderes Land. (1Mo 13,6; 1Mo 13,11; 1Mo 25,33; Offb 18,11) 

7 Denn ihre Habe war zu groß, sodass sie nicht beieinanderwohnen konnten; und das Land, in dem sie Fremdlinge waren, konnte sie wegen ihrer Herden nicht ertragen. (1Mo 36,8) 

8 So wohnte Esau auf dem Bergland von Seir; Esau, das ist Edom. (1Mo 32,3; Jos 24,4; Ob 1,1) 

9 Dies ist das Geschlecht Esaus, des Vaters der Edomiter, auf dem Bergland von Seir. (1Mo 36,1) 

10 Und dies sind die Namen der Söhne Esaus: Eliphas, der Sohn Adas, der Frau Esaus; Reguel, der Sohn Basmaths, der Frau Esaus. (1Mo 36,4; 1Chr 1,35) 

11 Die Söhne des Eliphas aber waren diese: Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gaetam und Kenas. (Jer 49,7; Jer 49,20) 

12 Und Timna war eine Nebenfrau des Eliphas, des Sohnes Esaus, die gebar dem Eliphas den Amalek. Das sind die Söhne von Ada, der Frau Esaus. (2Mo 17,8; 2Mo 17,14; 4Mo 24,20; 1Sam 15,2; Ps 83,8) 

13 Aber die Söhne Reguels sind diese: Nachath, Serach, Schamma und Missa. Das sind die Söhne von Basmath, der Frau Esaus. (1Mo 36,17) 

14 Die Söhne aber von Oholibama, der Frau Esaus, der Tochter der Ana, der Tochter Zibeons, die sie Esau gebar, sind diese: Jehusch, Jaelam und Korah. (1Mo 36,5; 1Mo 36,18) 

15 Das sind die Fürsten unter den Söhnen Esaus. Die Söhne des Eliphas, des ersten Sohnes Esaus, waren diese: der Fürst Teman, der Fürst Omar, der Fürst Zepho, der Fürst Kenas, (1Mo 36,11; 2Mo 15,15) 

16 der Fürst Korah, der Fürst Gaetam, der Fürst Amalek. Das sind die Fürsten von Eliphas im Land Edom; das sind die Söhne der Ada. (1Mo 36,12) 

17 Und das sind die Söhne Reguels, des Sohnes Esaus: der Fürst Nachath, der Fürst Serach, der Fürst Schamma, der Fürst Missa. Das sind die Fürsten von Reguel im Land Edom; das sind die Söhne der Basmath, der Frau Esaus. (1Mo 36,4; 1Mo 36,13) 

18 Dies sind die Söhne Oholibamas, der Frau Esaus: der Fürst Jehusch, der Fürst Jaelam, der Fürst Korah. Das sind die Fürsten von Oholibama, der Tochter der Ana, der Frau Esaus. (1Mo 36,5; 1Mo 36,14) 

19 Das sind die Söhne Esaus und ihre Fürsten, das ist Edom. (1Mo 36,1) 

20 Die Söhne Seirs aber, des Horiters, die im Land wohnten, sind diese: Lotan, Schobal, Zibeon, Ana, (1Mo 14,6; 1Chr 1,38) 

21 Dischon, Ezer und Dischan. Das sind die Fürsten der Horiter, die Söhne des Seir im Land Edom. (1Mo 36,30) 

22 Aber Lotans Söhne waren diese: Hori und Hemam; und Lotans Schwester hieß Timna. (1Mo 36,12) 

23 Die Söhne Schobals waren diese: Alwan, Manachath, Ebal, Schepho und Onam. (1Mo 36,29) 

24 Die Söhne Zibeons waren: Aja und Ana. Das ist jener Ana, der in der Wüste die heißen Quellen fand, als er die Esel seines Vaters Zibeon hütete. (1Sam 9,3) 

25 Die Kinder Anas waren: Dischon und Oholibama, diese ist die Tochter Anas. (1Mo 36,2; 1Mo 36,14; 1Mo 36,18; 1Mo 36,21) 

26 Die Söhne Dischons waren: Hemdan, Eschban, Jithran und Keran. (1Mo 36,21; 1Mo 36,30) 

27 Die Söhne Ezers waren: Bilhan, Saawan und Akan. (1Mo 36,21) 

28 Die Söhne Dischans waren: Uz und Aran. (Hi 1,1) 

29 Das sind die Fürsten der Horiter: der Fürst Lotan, der Fürst Schobal, der Fürst Zibeon, der Fürst Ana, (1Mo 36,20) 

30 der Fürst Dischon, der Fürst Ezer, der Fürst Dischan. Das sind die Fürsten der Horiter nach ihren Fürstentümern im Land Seir. 

31 Die Könige aber, die im Land Edom regiert haben, bevor ein König über die Kinder Israels regierte, sind diese: (4Mo 20,14; 1Chr 1,43) 

32 Bela, der Sohn Beors, war König in Edom, und der Name seiner Stadt war Dinhaba. (1Chr 1,43) 

33 Als Bela starb, wurde Jobab, der Sohn Serachs, aus Bozra König an seiner Stelle. (Jes 34,6; Jes 63,1; Jer 48,24; Jer 49,13; Am 1,12) 

34 Als Jobab starb, wurde Huscham aus dem Land der Temaniter König an seiner Stelle. (1Mo 36,11; 1Mo 36,15; Hi 2,11) 

35 Als Huscham starb, wurde an seiner Stelle Hadad, der Sohn Bedads, König, der die Midianiter im Gebiet von Moab schlug; und der Name seiner Stadt war Awith. (1Mo 19,37; 1Mo 25,2; 4Mo 21,11; 5Mo 1,5; Rut 1,1; Rut 1,6; 1Chr 1,32) 

36 Als Hadad starb, wurde Samla von Masreka König an seiner Stelle. 

37 Als Samla starb, wurde Saul von Rechobot am Strom König an seiner Stelle. (1Mo 10,11; 1Mo 26,22) 

38 Als Saul starb, wurde Baal-Hanan, der Sohn Achbors, König an seiner Stelle. 

39 Als Baal-Hanan, der Sohn Achbors, starb, wurde Hadar König an seiner Stelle; und der Name seiner Stadt war Pagu, und der Name seiner Frau war Mehetabeel — eine Tochter Matreds, der Tochter Me-Sahabs. 

40 Und dies sind die Namen der Fürsten von Esau nach ihren Geschlechtern, Orten und Namen: der Fürst von Timna, der Fürst von Alwa, der Fürst von Jetet, (1Mo 36,15; 2Mo 15,15)

Esau’s descendants

1 This is the account of the family line of Esau (that is, Edom). 

2 Esau took his wives from the women of Canaan: Adah daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Oholibamah daughter of Anah and granddaughter of Zibeon the Hivite – 

3 also Basemath daughter of Ishmael and sister of Nebaioth. 

4 Adah bore Eliphaz to Esau, Basemath bore Reuel, 

5 and Oholibamah bore Jeush, Jalam and Korah. These were the sons of Esau, who were born to him in Canaan. 

6 Esau took his wives and sons and daughters and all the members of his household, as well as his livestock and all his other animals and all the goods he had acquired in Canaan, and moved to a land some distance from his brother Jacob. 

7 Their possessions were too great for them to remain together; the land where they were staying could not support them both because of their livestock. 

8 So Esau (that is, Edom) settled in the hill country of Seir. 

9 This is the account of the family line of Esau the father of the Edomites in the hill country of Seir. 

10 These are the names of Esau’s sons: Eliphaz, the son of Esau’s wife Adah, and Reuel, the son of Esau’s wife Basemath. 

11 The sons of Eliphaz: Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatam and Kenaz. 

12 Esau’s son Eliphaz also had a concubine named Timna, who bore him Amalek. These were grandsons of Esau’s wife Adah. 

13 The sons of Reuel: Nahath, Zerah, Shammah and Mizzah. These were grandsons of Esau’s wife Basemath. 

14 The sons of Esau’s wife Oholibamah daughter of Anah and granddaughter of Zibeon, whom she bore to Esau: Jeush, Jalam and Korah. 

15 These were the chiefs among Esau’s descendants: The sons of Eliphaz the firstborn of Esau: Chiefs Teman, Omar, Zepho, Kenaz, 

16 Korah, Gatam and Amalek. These were the chiefs descended from Eliphaz in Edom; they were grandsons of Adah. (1Chr 1,36) 

17 The sons of Esau’s son Reuel: Chiefs Nahath, Zerah, Shammah and Mizzah. These were the chiefs descended from Reuel in Edom; they were grandsons of Esau’s wife Basemath. 

18 The sons of Esau’s wife Oholibamah: Chiefs Jeush, Jalam and Korah. These were the chiefs descended from Esau’s wife Oholibamah daughter of Anah. 

19 These were the sons of Esau (that is, Edom), and these were their chiefs. 

20 These were the sons of Seir the Horite, who were living in the region: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, 

21 Dishon, Ezer and Dishan. These sons of Seir in Edom were Horite chiefs. 

22 The sons of Lotan: Hori and Homam. Timna was Lotan’s sister. (1Chr 1,39) 

23 The sons of Shobal: Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho and Onam. 

24 The sons of Zibeon: Aiah and Anah. (This is the Anah who discovered the hot springs in the desert while he was grazing the donkeys of his father Zibeon.) 

25 The children of Anah: Dishon and Oholibamah daughter of Anah. 

26 The sons of Dishon: Hemdan, Eshban, Ithran and Keran. 

27 The sons of Ezer: Bilhan, Zaavan and Akan. 

28 The sons of Dishan: Uz and Aran. 

29 These were the Horite chiefs: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, 

30 Dishon, Ezer and Dishan. These were the Horite chiefs, according to their divisions, in the land of Seir. 

The rulers of Edom

31 These were the kings who reigned in Edom before any Israelite king reigned: 

32 Bela son of Beor became king of Edom. His city was named Dinhabah. 

33 When Bela died, Jobab son of Zerah from Bozrah succeeded him as king. 

34 When Jobab died, Husham from the land of the Temanites succeeded him as king. 

35 When Husham died, Hadad son of Bedad, who defeated Midian in the country of Moab, succeeded him as king. His city was named Avith. 

36 When Hadad died, Samlah from Masrekah succeeded him as king. 

37 When Samlah died, Shaul from Rehoboth on the river succeeded him as king. 

38 When Shaul died, Baal-Hanan son of Akbor succeeded him as king. 

39 When Baal-Hanan son of Akbor died, Hadad succeeded him as king. His city was named Pau, and his wife’s name was Mehetabel daughter of Matred, the daughter of Me-Zahab. (1Chr 1,50) 

40 These were the chiefs descended from Esau, by name, according to their clans and regions: Timna, Alvah, Jetheth, 

41 Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon, 

42 Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar, 

43 Magdiel and Iram. These were the chiefs of Edom, according to their settlements in the land they occupied. This is the family line of Esau, the father of the Edomites.

1 Now these are the generations of Esau, who is Edom. 

2 Esau took his wives of the daughters of Canaan; Adah the daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Aholibamah the daughter of Anah the daughter of Zibeon the Hivite; 

3 And Bashemath Ishmael' daughter, sister of Nebajoth. 

4 And Adah bare to Esau Eliphaz; and Bashemath bare Reuel; 

5 And Aholibamah bare Jeush, and Jaalam, and Korah: these are the sons of Esau, which were born unto him in the land of Canaan. 

6 And Esau took his wives, and his sons, and his daughters, and all the persons of his house, and his cattle, and all his beasts, and all his substance, which he had got in the land of Canaan; and went into the country from the face of his brother Jacob. 

7 For their riches were more than that they might dwell together; and the land wherein they were strangers could not bear them because of their cattle. 

8 Thus dwelt Esau in mount Seir: Esau is Edom. 

9 And these are the generations of Esau the father of the Edomites in mount Seir: 

10 These are the names of Esau' sons; Eliphaz the son of Adah the wife of Esau, Reuel the son of Bashemath the wife of Esau. 

11 And the sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zepho, and Gatam, and Kenaz. 

12 And Timna was concubine to Eliphaz Esau' son; and she bare to Eliphaz Amalek: these were the sons of Adah Esau' wife. 

13 And these are the sons of Reuel; Nahath, and Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah: these were the sons of Bashemath Esau' wife. 

14 And these were the sons of Aholibamah, the daughter of Anah the daughter of Zibeon, Esau' wife: and she bare to Esau Jeush, and Jaalam, and Korah. 

15 These were dukes of the sons of Esau: the sons of Eliphaz the firstborn son of Esau; duke Teman, duke Omar, duke Zepho, duke Kenaz,
