Rut lässt sich auf einen mutigen Plan ein

1 ´Eines Tages` sagte Noomi zu ihrer Schwiegertochter Rut: »Meine Tochter, ich möchte für dich ein Zuhause suchen, wo es dir gut geht. 2 Boas, mit dessen Mägden du zusammen warst, ist doch unser Verwandter. Heute Abend ist er auf seinem Dreschplatz und worfelt ´das Getreide`^[1]. 3 Bade und salbe dich, zieh deine ´besten` Kleider an und geh hinunter zum Dreschplatz! Sieh aber zu, dass Boas dich nicht bemerkt, bis er fertig ist mit Essen und Trinken. 4 Merk dir die Stelle, wo er sich hinlegt, ´und wenn es dunkel ist`, dann schlüpf unter seine Decke und leg dich ans Fußende. Er wird dir sagen, was du tun sollst.« 5 »Ich werde alles befolgen, was du mir geraten hast«, antwortete Rut. 6 Sie ging hinunter zum Dreschplatz und verhielt sich genau so, wie ihre Schwiegermutter es ihr aufgetragen hatte. 7 Als Boas gegessen und getrunken hatte, legte er sich fröhlich und zufrieden^[2] am Rand des Getreidehaufens schlafen. Rut kam leise dazu, schlüpfte unter seine Decke und legte sich ans Fußende. 8 Um Mitternacht schrak Boas auf. Er tastete um sich und ´bemerkte, dass` bei seinen Füßen eine Frau lag. 9 »Wer bist du?«, fragte er. »Ich bin Rut, deine Dienerin«, antwortete sie. » ´Bitte` breite dein Gewand^[3] über mich aus ´als Zeichen dafür, dass du mich heiraten willst`. Denn du bist ´als` Löser ´für mich verantwortlich`.« (Rut 2,12) 10 Da sagte er: »Der HERR segne dich, meine Tochter! Jetzt hast du noch viel mehr als bisher gezeigt, wie treu du zu der Familie deiner Schwiegermutter stehst.^[4] Denn du bist nicht den jungen Männern nachgelaufen, weder den armen noch den reichen. 11 Hab keine Angst, meine Tochter. Alles, worum du mich gebeten hast, will ich für dich tun. Jeder in der Stadt^[5] weiß, dass du eine tüchtige und zuverlässige Frau bist. 12 Nun, es ist wirklich so, dass ich ´als` Löser ´für dich verantwortlich` bin, aber es gibt einen weiteren Löser, der noch näher mit dir verwandt ist als ich. 13 Bleib diese Nacht hier! Morgen soll der andere Verwandte sich entscheiden, ob er für dich sorgen will^[6] oder nicht. Wenn er seiner Verantwortung nicht nachkommen möchte^[7], werde ich es tun. Das schwöre ich, so wahr der HERR lebt. Bleib also liegen bis zum Morgen!« 14 Rut blieb am Fußende liegen, doch am frühen Morgen, noch bevor ´es so hell war, dass` man jemand erkennen konnte, stand sie auf. Denn Boas sagte: »Es darf sich nicht herumsprechen, dass eine Frau ´zu mir` auf den Dreschplatz gekommen ist.« 15 »Nimm dein Umschlagtuch ab«, sagte er, »und halte es auf!« Er schüttete einen halben Zentner^[8] Gerste hinein und lud es ihr auf die Schulter. Dann ging er zurück in die Stadt. 16 Als Rut nach Hause kam, fragte ihre Schwiegermutter: »Wie ist es dir ergangen, meine Tochter?« Rut berichtete ihr alles, was Boas für sie getan hatte. 17 »Diesen halben Zentner Gerste hat er mir geschenkt«, erzählte sie. »Er hat gesagt: ›Du sollst nicht mit leeren Händen zu deiner Schwiegermutter zurückkommen.‹« 18 Noomi antwortete: »Bleib ´hier`, meine Tochter, bis du weißt, wie diese Angelegenheit ausgeht. Boas wird keine Ruhe geben. Er wird noch heute diese Sache klären.«

1 Then Naomi her mother in law said unto her, My daughter, shall I not seek rest for thee, that it may be well with thee? 2 And now is not Boaz of our kindred, with whose maidens thou wast? Behold, he winnoweth barley to night in the threshingfloor. 3 Wash thyself therefore, and anoint thee, and put thy raiment upon thee, and get thee down to the floor: but make not thyself known unto the man, until he shall have done eating and drinking. 4 And it shall be, when he lieth down, that thou shalt mark the place where he shall lie, and thou shalt go in, and uncover his feet, and lay thee down; and he will tell thee what thou shalt do. 5 And she said unto her, All that thou sayest unto me I will do. 6 And she went down unto the floor, and did according to all that her mother in law bade her. 7 And when Boaz had eaten and drunk, and his heart was merry, he went to lie down at the end of the heap of corn: and she came softly, and uncovered his feet, and laid her down. 8 And it came to pass at midnight, that the man was afraid, and turned himself: and, behold, a woman lay at his feet. 9 And he said, Who art thou? And she answered, I am Ruth thine handmaid: spread therefore thy skirt over thine handmaid; for thou art a near kinsman. 10 And he said, Blessed be thou of the LORD, my daughter: for thou hast shewed more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, inasmuch as thou followedst not young men, whether poor or rich. 11 And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman. 12 And now it is true that I am thy near kinsman: howbeit there is a kinsman nearer than I. 13 Tarry this night, and it shall be in the morning, that if he will perform unto thee the part of a kinsman, well; let him do the kinsman' part: but if he will not do the part of a kinsman to thee, then will I do the part of a kinsman to thee, as the LORD liveth: lie down until the morning. 14 And she lay at his feet until the morning: and she rose up before one could know another. And he said, Let it not be known that a woman came into the floor. 15 Also he said, Bring the vail that thou hast upon thee, and hold it. And when she held it, he measured six measures of barley, and laid it on her: and she went into the city. 16 And when she came to her mother in law, she said, Who art thou, my daughter? And she told her all that the man had done to her. 17 And she said, These six measures of barley gave he me; for he said to me, Go not empty unto thy mother in law. 18 Then said she, Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall: for the man will not be in rest, until he have finished the thing this day.
