Jesus ist Herr über den Sabbat

1 An einem Sabbat^[1] ging Jesus durch die Felder. Seine Jünger rissen Ähren ab, zerrieben sie mit den Händen und aßen die Körner. (Mt 12,1; Mk 2,23) 2 Da sagten einige der Pharisäer: »Was tut ihr da? Das ist doch am Sabbat nicht erlaubt!« 3 Jesus entgegnete ihnen: »Habt ihr nie gelesen, was David tat, als er und seine Begleiter Hunger hatten? 4 Wie er ins Haus Gottes ging, die geweihten Brote nahm, davon aß und auch seinen Begleitern davon gab, obwohl doch niemand außer den Priestern davon essen darf?« 5 Und Jesus fügte hinzu: »Der Menschensohn ist Herr über den Sabbat.«

Jesus heilt am Sabbat

6 An einem anderen Sabbat, als Jesus in die Synagoge ging und lehrte, war dort ein Mann, dessen rechte Hand verkrüppelt war. (Mt 12,9; Mk 3,1) 7 Die Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäer beobachteten Jesus aufmerksam; sie wollten sehen, ob er am Sabbat heilen würde. Sie hofften nämlich, einen Vorwand zu finden, um ihn anklagen zu können. 8 Jesus wusste, was sie dachten. »Steh auf und komm nach vorn^[2]!«, sagte er zu dem Mann mit der verkrüppelten Hand. Der Mann stand auf und trat vor. 9 Nun wandte sich Jesus zu den Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäern^[3] und sagte: »Ich frage euch: Was ist richtig^[4] – am Sabbat Gutes zu tun oder Böses? Einem Menschen das Leben zu retten oder ihn ins Verderben zu stürzen^[5]?« 10 Er sah sie alle der Reihe nach an. Dann befahl er dem Mann: »Streck deine Hand aus!« Der Mann tat es, und seine Hand war geheilt. 11 Da wurden sie von sinnloser Wut gepackt und berieten miteinander, was sie gegen Jesus unternehmen könnten.

Die zwölf Apostel

12 In jener Zeit zog sich Jesus auf einen Berg^[6] zurück, um zu beten. Die ganze Nacht verbrachte er im Gebet^[7]. (Mt 10,1; Mk 3,13) 13 Als es Tag wurde, rief er seine Jünger zu sich und wählte zwölf von ihnen aus, die er Apostel nannte. Es waren: 14 Simon, dem er auch den Namen Petrus gab, dessen Bruder Andreas, Jakobus, Johannes, Philippus, Bartholomäus, 15 Matthäus, Thomas, Jakobus, der Sohn des Alphäus, Simon, den man den Zeloten nannte, 16 Judas, der Sohn des Jakobus, und Judas Iskariot, der zum Verräter wurde.

Jesus lehrt und heilt

17 Dann stieg Jesus mit ihnen den Berg hinunter bis zu einem ebenen Platz, wo sich eine große Schar seiner Jünger und eine große Menschenmenge aus dem ganzen jüdischen Land^[8], aus Jerusalem und aus dem Küstengebiet von Tyrus und Sidon um ihn versammelte. (Mt 4,23) 18 Sie waren gekommen, um ihn zu hören und von ihren Krankheiten geheilt zu werden. Auch die von bösen^[9] Geistern Geplagten fanden Heilung. 19 Jeder versuchte, ihn zu berühren; denn es ging eine Kraft von ihm aus, die alle gesund machte.

Wer glücklich zu preisen ist und wer nicht

20 Jesus blickte seine Jünger an und sagte: »Glücklich zu preisen seid ihr, die ihr arm seid; denn euch gehört das Reich Gottes. (Mt 5,2) 21 Glücklich zu preisen seid ihr, die ihr jetzt hungert; denn ihr werdet satt werden. Glücklich zu preisen seid ihr, die ihr jetzt weint; denn ihr werdet lachen. 22 Glücklich zu preisen seid ihr, wenn ihr^[10] um des Menschensohnes willen gehasst und ausgestoßen werdet und wenn man euch um seinetwillen beschimpft und euren Namen in den Schmutz zieht^[11]. 23 Freut euch, wenn das geschieht; tanzt und springt vor Freude! Denn im Himmel wartet eine große Belohnung auf euch. Genauso haben es ja ihre Vorfahren mit den Propheten gemacht. 24 Doch weh euch, die ihr reich seid; denn ihr habt euren Trost ´damit schon` erhalten. 25 Weh euch, die ihr jetzt satt seid; denn ihr werdet hungern. Weh euch, die ihr jetzt lacht; denn ihr werdet trauern und weinen. 26 Und weh euch, wenn alle Leute gut von euch reden! Genauso haben es ja ihre Vorfahren mit den falschen Propheten gemacht.«

Liebe zu den Feinden. Grundregeln für das Verhalten gegenüber anderen

27 »Aber euch, die ihr mir zuhört, sage ich: Liebt eure Feinde; tut denen Gutes, die euch hassen; (Mt 5,38) 28 segnet die, die euch verfluchen; betet für die, die euch Böses tun^[12]. 29 Schlägt dich jemand auf die eine Backe, dann halt ihm auch die andere hin, und nimmt dir jemand den Mantel, dann lass ihm auch das Hemd. 30 Gib jedem, der dich bittet, und wenn dir jemand etwas nimmt, dann fordere es nicht zurück. 31 Handelt allen Menschen gegenüber so, wie ihr es von ihnen euch gegenüber erwartet. 32 Wenn ihr die liebt, die euch Liebe erweisen, verdient ihr dafür etwa besondere Anerkennung? Auch die Menschen, die nicht nach Gott fragen,^[13] lieben die, von denen sie Liebe erfahren. 33 Und wenn ihr denen Gutes tut, die euch Gutes tun, verdient ihr dafür besondere Anerkennung? So handeln doch auch die, die nicht nach Gott fragen. 34 Und wenn ihr denen leiht, von denen ihr ebenfalls etwas erwarten könnt^[14], verdient ihr dafür besondere Anerkennung? Auch bei denen, die nicht nach Gott fragen, leiht einer dem anderen in der Hoffnung auf eine entsprechende Gegenleistung^[15]. 35 Nein, gerade eure Feinde sollt ihr lieben! Tut Gutes und leiht^[16], ohne etwas zurückzuerwarten^[17]. Dann wartet eine große Belohnung auf euch, und ihr werdet Söhne des Höchsten sein; denn auch er ist gütig gegen die Undankbaren und Bösen. 36 Seid barmherzig, wie euer Vater barmherzig ist.«

Warnung vor selbstgerechtem Urteilen

37 »Richtet nicht, und ihr werdet nicht gerichtet werden. Verurteilt nicht, und ihr werdet nicht verurteilt werden. Sprecht frei, und ihr werdet freigesprochen werden.^[18] (Mt 7,1; Mk 4,24) 38 Gebt, und es wird euch gegeben werden. Ein volles Maß wird man euch in den Schoß schütten, ein reichliches Maß, bis an den Rand gefüllt und überfließend. Denn das Maß, das ihr verwendet, wird auch bei euch verwendet werden.« 39 Jesus gebrauchte noch einen Vergleich; er sagte: »Kann ein Blinder einen Blinden führen? Werden nicht beide in die Grube fallen? 40 Ein Jünger steht nicht über seinem Meister; wenn er alles von ihm gelernt hat, ist er ´höchstens` so weit gekommen wie dieser^[19]. 41 Wie kommt es, dass du den Splitter im Auge deines Bruders siehst, aber den Balken in deinem eigenen Auge nicht bemerkst? 42 Wie kannst du zu deinem Bruder sagen: ›Bruder, halt still! Ich will den Splitter herausziehen, der in deinem Auge sitzt‹ – und bemerkst dabei den Balken im eigenen Auge nicht? Du Heuchler! Zieh zuerst den Balken aus deinem eigenen Auge; dann wirst du klar sehen und kannst den Splitter, der im Auge deines Bruders ist, herausziehen.«

Der Vergleich mit dem guten und mit dem schlechten Baum

43 »Ein guter^[20] Baum trägt keine schlechten^[21] Früchte, und ebenso wenig trägt ein schlechter^[22] Baum gute Früchte. (Mt 7,16; Mt 12,33) 44 Jeden Baum erkennt man an seinen Früchten: Von Dornbüschen pflückt man keine Feigen, und von Gestrüpp erntet man keine Trauben. 45 Ein guter Mensch bringt Gutes hervor, weil sein Herz mit Gutem erfüllt ist^[23]. Ein böser Mensch dagegen bringt Böses hervor, weil sein Herz mit Bösem erfüllt ist. Denn wie der Mensch in seinem Herzen denkt, so redet er.^[24]«

Der Vergleich mit dem Hausbau

46 »Warum nennt ihr mich immerfort ›Herr‹^[25], wenn ihr doch nicht tut, was ich sage? (Mt 7,21; Mt 7,24) 47 Wisst ihr, wem der gleicht, der zu mir kommt, meine Worte hört und danach handelt? Ich will es euch sagen^[26]. 48 Er gleicht einem Mann, der ein Haus baut und dabei tief ausschachtet und das Fundament auf felsigen Grund legt. Wenn dann Hochwasser kommt und die Flutwellen gegen das Haus schlagen, können sie es nicht erschüttern, so gut ist es gebaut. 49 Wer aber meine Worte hört und nicht danach handelt, gleicht einem Mann, der ein Haus baut, ohne auszuschachten^[27] und ohne ein Fundament zu legen. Sobald die Flutwellen dagegen schlagen, stürzt es in sich zusammen und wird völlig zerstört^[28].«

1 And it came to pass on the second sabbath after the first, that he went through the corn fields; and his disciples plucked the ears of corn, and did eat, rubbing them in their hands. 2 And certain of the Pharisees said unto them, Why do ye that which is not lawful to do on the sabbath days? 3 And Jesus answering them said, Have ye not read so much as this, what David did, when himself was an hungred, and they which were with him; 4 How he went into the house of God, and did take and eat the shewbread, and gave also to them that were with him; which it is not lawful to eat but for the priests alone? 5 And he said unto them, That the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath. 6 And it came to pass also on another sabbath, that he entered into the synagogue and taught: and there was a man whose right hand was withered. 7 And the scribes and Pharisees watched him, whether he would heal on the sabbath day; that they might find an accusation against him. 8 But he knew their thoughts, and said to the man which had the withered hand, Rise up, and stand forth in the midst. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes. 45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. 46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? 47 Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: 48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. 49 But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.
