Die Versuchung Jesu

1 Erfüllt mit dem Heiligen Geist, verließ Jesus die Jordangegend. Vierzig Tage war er, vom Geist geführt, in der Wüste (Mt 4,1; Mk 1,12) 2 und wurde^[1] vom Teufel versucht. Während jener ganzen Zeit aß er nichts, sodass er am Ende sehr hungrig war. 3 Da sagte der Teufel zu ihm: »Wenn du Gottes Sohn bist, dann befiehl diesem Stein hier, er soll zu Brot werden.« 4 Aber Jesus gab ihm zur Antwort: »Es heißt in der Schrift: ›Der Mensch lebt^[2] nicht nur von Brot.‹ « (5Mo 8,3) 5 Der Teufel führte ihn an eine hochgelegene Stelle^[3], zeigte ihm in einem einzigen Augenblick alle Reiche der Erde 6 und sagte: »Alle diese Macht und Herrlichkeit will ich dir geben. Denn mir ist das alles übergeben, und ich gebe es, wem ich will. 7 Du brauchst mich nur anzubeten, und alles gehört dir.« 8 Aber Jesus entgegnete: »Es heißt in der Schrift: ›Den Herrn, deinen Gott, sollst du anbeten; ihm allein sollst du dienen.‹ « (5Mo 6,13) 9 Der Teufel führte ihn auch nach Jerusalem, stellte ihn auf einen Vorsprung des Tempeldaches^[4] und sagte: »Wenn du Gottes Sohn bist, dann stürz dich von hier hinunter! 10 Denn es heißt in der Schrift: ›Er wird seine Engel schicken^[5], damit sie dich behüten. 11 Sie werden dich auf ihren Händen tragen, damit du mit deinem Fuß nicht an einen Stein stößt.‹ « (Ps 91,11; Ps 91,12) 12 Jesus erwiderte: »Es heißt aber auch: ›Du sollst den Herrn, deinen Gott, nicht herausfordern!‹ « (5Mo 6,16) 13 Nachdem der Teufel alles versucht hatte, um Jesus zu Fall zu bringen^[6], ließ er ihn für einige Zeit^[7] in Ruhe.

Jesu erstes öffentliches Wirken in Galiläa

14 Erfüllt mit der Kraft des Geistes, kehrte Jesus nach Galiläa zurück. Bald sprach man in der ganzen Gegend von ihm. (Mt 4,12; Mk 1,14) 15 Er lehrte in den^[8] Synagogen und wurde von allen hoch geachtet.

Jesus in seiner Heimatstadt Nazaret

16 So kam Jesus auch nach Nazaret, wo er aufgewachsen war. Am Sabbat ging er, wie er es gewohnt war, in die Synagoge. Er stand auf, um ´aus der Schrift` vorzulesen, (Mt 13,54; Mk 6,1) 17 und man reichte ihm die Buchrolle des Propheten Jesaja. Er rollte sie auf und las^[9] die Stelle, an der es heißt: 18 »Der Geist des Herrn ruht auf mir, denn der Herr hat mich gesalbt. Er hat mich gesandt mit dem Auftrag, den Armen gute Botschaft zu bringen^[10], den Gefangenen zu verkünden, dass sie frei sein sollen, und den Blinden, dass sie sehen werden, den Unterdrückten die Freiheit zu bringen, 19 und ein Jahr der Gnade des Herrn auszurufen.« 20 Jesus rollte die Buchrolle zusammen, gab sie dem Synagogendiener zurück und setzte sich. Alle in der Synagoge sahen ihn gespannt an. 21 Er begann zu reden. »Heute hat sich dieses Schriftwort erfüllt«, sagte er zu ihnen. »Ihr seid Zeugen.«^[11] 22 Alle waren von ihm beeindruckt und staunten über seine Worte. Sie mussten zugeben, dass das, was er sagte, ihm von Gott geschenkt war.^[12] »Aber ist er denn nicht der Sohn Josefs?«, fragten sie. 23 Da sagte Jesus zu ihnen: »Ihr werdet mir sicher das Sprichwort vorhalten: ›Arzt, hilf dir selbst!‹ und werdet sagen: ›Wie wir gehört haben, hast du in Kafarnaum große Dinge getan. Nun, dann tu sie auch hier in deiner Vaterstadt!‹« 24 »Ich sage euch«, fuhr Jesus fort, »kein Prophet gilt etwas in seiner Vaterstadt. 25 Im Übrigen erinnere ich euch an Folgendes^[13]: Es gab in Israel viele Witwen, als es in den Tagen Elias drei Jahre und sechs Monate nicht regnete^[14] und im ganzen Land eine große Hungersnot herrschte. 26 Und doch wurde Elia zu keiner von ihnen geschickt, sondern zu einer Witwe in Sarepta im Gebiet von Sidon. 27 Und zur Zeit des Propheten Elisa gab es in Israel viele Aussätzige. Aber nicht einer von ihnen wurde geheilt, nur der Syrer Naaman.« 28 Als die Leute in der Synagoge das hörten, packte sie alle die Wut. 29 Sie sprangen auf, zerrten Jesus zur Stadt hinaus und führten ihn an einen Abhang des Hügels, auf dem ihre Stadt erbaut war; dort wollten sie ihn hinunterstürzen. 30 Jesus aber schritt mitten durch die Menge hindurch und ging fort.

Austreibung eines bösen Geistes in der Synagoge von Kafarnaum

31 Jesus ging hinunter nach Kafarnaum, einer Stadt in Galiläa, und sprach^[15] dort am Sabbat zu den Menschen. (Mk 1,21) 32 Sie waren von seiner Lehre tief beeindruckt, denn er redete mit Vollmacht. 33 In der Synagoge war auch ein Mann, der einen bösen Geist hatte, einen Dämon^[16]. Er schrie mit lauter Stimme: 34 »Was^[17] willst du von uns, Jesus von Nazaret? Bist du gekommen, um uns zugrunde zu richten?^[18] Ich weiß, wer du bist: der Heilige Gottes!« – 35 »Schweig!«, befahl ihm Jesus. »Verlass diesen Mann!« Da warf der Dämon den Mann mitten in der Synagoge zu Boden und verließ ihn, ohne ihm noch etwas antun zu können. 36 Furcht und Staunen ergriff alle, und sie sagten zueinander: »Was für eine Vollmacht und Kraft hat sein Wort! Er befiehlt den bösen Geistern^[19] auszufahren, und sie fahren aus.« 37 Bald gab es in der ganzen Gegend keinen Ort mehr, an dem man nicht von Jesus sprach.

Weiteres Wirken Jesu in Kafarnaum

38 Von der Synagoge aus ging Jesus^[20] in das Haus Simons. Dessen Schwiegermutter hatte hohes Fieber, und man bat Jesus, ihr zu helfen. (Mt 8,14; Mk 1,29) 39 Er trat zu ihr hin, beugte sich über sie und befahl dem Fieber, sie zu verlassen. Das Fieber verschwand, und sofort stand sie auf und sorgte für das Wohl Jesu und seiner Begleiter^[21]. 40 Als die Sonne unterging, brachten alle Leute ihre Kranken zu Jesus – Menschen mit den verschiedensten Leiden. Er legte jedem Einzelnen von ihnen die Hände auf und heilte sie. 41 Von vielen fuhren auch Dämonen aus; diese schrien: »Du bist der Sohn Gottes!« Aber Jesus trat ihnen mit Nachdruck entgegen und verbot ihnen zu reden; denn sie wussten, dass er der Messias^[22] war.

Jesu Botschaft soll alle erreichen

42 Bei Tagesanbruch verließ Jesus ´das Haus^[23]` und ging an einen einsamen Ort. Doch die Leute suchten ihn, bis sie ihn gefunden hatten. Sie wollten ihn festhalten und verhindern, dass er von ihnen wegging. (Mk 1,35) 43 Aber er sagte zu ihnen: »Ich muss auch den anderen Städten die Botschaft vom Reich Gottes verkünden, denn dazu bin ich gesandt worden.« 44 Von da an verkündete er die Botschaft vom Reich Gottes überall in den Synagogen des jüdischen Landes^[24].

1 And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, 2 Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered. 3 And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread. 4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. 5 And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. 7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine. 8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. 9 And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence: 10 For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee: 11 And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. 12 And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. 13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season. 14 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about. 15 And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all. 16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. 17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, 18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, 19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. 20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. 21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears. 22 And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph's son? 23 And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country. 24 And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country. 25 But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land; 26 But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow. 27 And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian. 28 And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath, 29 And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong. 30 But he passing through the midst of them went his way, 31 And came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the sabbath days. 32 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power. 33 And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice, 34 Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God. 35 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not. 36 And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out. 37 And the fame of him went out into every place of the country round about. 38 And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon's house. And Simon's wife's mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her. 39 And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them. 40 Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them. 41 And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ. 42 And when it was day, he departed and went into a desert place: and the people sought him, and came unto him, and stayed him, that he should not depart from them. 43 And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent. 44 And he preached in the synagogues of Galilee.
